A meeting was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) on the results of the “Staff Index” pilot project implemented by the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population. The meeting was attended by AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev, Chairman of the Board of the State Employment Agency Sadig Aliyev, and relevant representatives from both sides. It was reported that initially 65 second-year students from two faculties of the university participated in the project, and their non-academic activities were evaluated in 7 areas. As the next stage, an action plan will be developed to support the personal development of students involved in the project. It should be noted that the purpose of the “Staff  Index”, which was developed on the experience of more than 10 prestigious international universities, is to measure individual indicators that affect students’ competitiveness in the labor market, assess inter-competence balance, and form a systematic approach to students’ personal development. In the future, the project is planned to be expanded and implemented in other faculties of AzTU.

A seminar on the topic of “Restoration and preservation of technological heritage in Western Azerbaijan” was held by the Western Azerbaijan Technological Heritage Center of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The aim was to evaluate and discuss the relevance of the technological heritage formed in Western Azerbaijan for the modern era from a scientific perspective. First, an exhibition dedicated to the heritage of Western Azerbaijan was viewed in the lobby of AzTU. Speaking at the seminar, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev said that the issue of preserving the heritage of Western Azerbaijan is in the focus of attention of President Ilham Aliyev. He noted that the mission of AzTU is to explore the technological capabilities of this heritage and pass on the scientific research conducted in this direction to future generations. The Rector also emphasized the creation of opportunities for creatively-minded young people in preserving this heritage. Then, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the West Azerbaijan Community, MP Aziz Alakbarov made a speech and looked through the history. The MP noted the importance of studying the realities of Western Azerbaijan, communicating them to the world community, fully exposing Armenian lies and frauds, bringing the rights of Azerbaijanis deported from the lands of Western Azerbaijan over the past 200 years to the international level, restoring them, using all possible opportunities to punish the Armenian state and Armenian nationalists in international courts for all these crimes, and at the same time conducting this struggle in parallel in the fields of culture, science, education, and technology. He considered such a series of events important and expressed his gratitude to Rector Vilayat Valiyev for the created conditions and support. Then, a panel discussion of the seminar was held under the moderation of the chairman of the Public Union "For the Social Welfare of Citizens" Irada Rizazade. Western Azerbaijan researcher Jalal Allahverdiyev, honored cultural worker, national culinary researcher Tahir Amiraslanov, members of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan Isgander Sardarli, Togrul Sardarli, and artist Ali Ismayil Aliyev made a wide-ranging presentation on the technological heritage of Western Azerbaijan. During the speeches, proposals were made on preserving the technological heritage of Western Azerbaijan and conducting various studies in this direction. It should be noted that in accordance with the instructions given by President Ilham Aliyev to prepare the Concept of Return to Western Azerbaijan, the Western Azerbaijan Technological Heritage Center was established at AzTU last year.

The employees of the Library Information Center (LIC) of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) have gained success in the country. Within the framework of cooperation between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and TCS LLC, internationally certified HSE trainings are organized to further improvement of the knowledge and skills of teachers. Tural Aliyev, CEO of PASHA Property Management, and company representatives visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The guests met with AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev and university employees. Rector Vilayat Valiyev provided information about the projects implemented at AzTU in recent years and the work done within the framework of university-industry cooperation. Tural Aliyev, CEO of PASHA Property Management, in turn, thanked for the initiative shown for cooperation. Stating that the company implements various internship programs for students, Tural Aliyev emphasized that AzTU students are selected and provided with jobs by showing activity in these programs. During the meeting, issues such as the prospects of cooperation between AzTU and PASHA Property Management, joint scientific research, the university's contribution to the process of professional personnel training for the company, and students' internship and job opportunities in the company were discussed. At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the parties.

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) students Seljan Kerimli and Khalida Hajizadeh have been selected to participate in the summer internship program on robotics, which is a joint initiative of Middle East Technical University (METU) and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TCCA). The selection was made among candidates from 7 countries and a total of 12 students were selected to participate in the summer internship program within the framework of this international project. The program will last a total of 6 weeks, the first week of which will consist of theoretical training. The main goal of the program is to develop robotics technologies and train a new generation of researchers who can apply them in practice, to support research in the field of robotics both within Turkey and internationally, to raise research on robots and artificial intelligence to a higher level, to ensure the integration of robotics technologies into industrial production processes and to develop products using these technologies, as well as to develop unmanned and intelligent systems in line with the needs of the defense industry. All basic expenses of the students during the internship will be covered by TCCA.

Andrea Ibrenda, Director of the Italian company “Proges Engineering”, and Asif Namazov, Deputy Director, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The guests met with AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev and representatives of the university. Andrea Ibrenda said that this is his second visit to AzTU. He noted that he is always ready to support the establishment of relations between AzTU and prestigious higher education institutions in Italy specializing in technical fields. During the discussions, views were exchanged on issues such as the implementation of mutual exchange of experience in all areas of engineering, joint scientific research work of doctoral students and young researchers.

The State Service for Special Communications and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCSIS) organized another competition in the field of cybersecurity for the spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year to assess the knowledge of undergraduate and graduate students studying at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) in the field of cybersecurity. According to the results of the competition, Tural Salimov and Orkhan Eminbeyli, 3rd-year undergraduate students of the Information Security specialty of the Faculty of Information and Telecommunications Technologies of the University, as well as Rena Sadiqova and Aytaj Agayeva, 2nd-year master's students of the State Information Systems Security specialization of the Higher Education Institute under the University, were declared winners with special distinction. The award ceremony was attended by Major General Allahveran Ismayilov, Deputy Head of the SCSIS, AzTU Rector Professor Vilayat Valiyev, and other representatives. During the event, the importance of cooperation between state bodies and educational institutions was emphasized in the speeches, and it was stated that training young specialists in the field of cybersecurity is one of the strategic priorities. It was noted that the measures implemented within the framework of the Memorandum signed between the State Institute of Information Security and AzTU are of great importance in transforming students' theoretical knowledge into practical skills and strengthening the human resources potential of the cybersecurity field in the country. Within the framework of the Memorandum, the State Institute of Information Security created conditions for students studying at the bachelor's level of AzTU in information security to participate in events within the framework of the practical training program. Then, the representatives of the State Institute of Information Security got acquainted with the laboratories supported by the Service in conjunction with the University in order to strengthen its modern educational infrastructure, material and technical base, as well as the existing modern classrooms for communications and telecommunications, advanced technologies applied in innovative training methods, and experience gained in the field.

Active members of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) Student Trade Union Committee (STUC) also participated in the tree planting campaign organized by the Republican Committee of the Free Trade Union of Education Workers. The campaign was organized to protect the ecological balance in our country, expand green areas, and form an ecological culture among young people. STUC activists planted various types of tree seedlings, carried out their watering and initial care, and demonstrated their solidarity in order to contribute to nature conservation. The students participating in the campaign emphasized that such events play an important role in increasing the ecological responsibility of young people and stated that they will enthusiastically join activities in this direction in the future. Supporting projects related to environmental protection and ensuring the active participation of students in this process is one of the priority areas of activity of the AzTU STUC. The initiative and solidarity of young people are of great importance for such campaigns to become sustainable.
