Sabunchu schoolchildren joined AzTU's plastic bottle recycling initiative

The School of Lifelong Learning of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has launched a new and exciting initiative to recycle plastic bottles and turn them into PLA material. This initiative is being implemented by engineers from the MGP Group, which operates under the School of Lifelong Learning. The goal is to increase interest in science and technology among secondary school students, instill care for the environment, and contribute to sustainable development goals. Under the leadership of Aygun Mehdiyeva, who teaches STEAM and informatics-digitalization classes, the students brought the collected plastic bottles to AzTU and handed them over to the MGP Workshop, and also got acquainted with its activities. At the MGP Workshop, the students watched the process of sorting, processing plastic waste and producing filament for 3D printers. Engineers of the AzTU MGP Group explained the technical aspects of the processing processes, the application of modern software and technologies, as well as the main principles of the MGP concept to the schoolchildren in detail, provided interesting information, and answered their numerous questions. This initiative also proves that every plastic bottle that looks like household waste is not just waste, but can be the beginning of an idea, a discovery, and cooperation.

An event promoting women in the fields of technology and innovation has been held at AzTU

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) hosted the event titled "International Women’s Day 2025 Baku IWD 2025 Baku", aimed at promoting women’s activities in the fields of technology and innovation. The event was organized jointly by the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (DDA), AzTU’s Student Trade Union Committee (STUC), foreign students studying at AzTU, the Turkic States Youth Platform (TSYP), Women Techmakers, and Google Developer Groups. During the opening of the event, Fatih Emir Torun, the chairman of TSYP, and Malik Mammadli, the community leader of Google Developer Groups, spoke about the event’s goals and significance, providing participants with valuable information. The majority of attendees were women studying and working in the ICT field. The event, featuring engaging speeches, created a unique opportunity for women who have succeeded in the fields of information technologies, artificial intelligence, the gaming industry, digital communication, user experience (UX) design, social media strategy, and cybersecurity, to share their knowledge and experiences. At Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), the final round of the Republic Stage of the Republic Science Olympiad in Computer Science was held, organized by the Education Institute of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARTI) and AzTU’s Institute of Information Technology and Methodical Support in Education. In the final, 94 students from the 10th and 11th grades competed at AzTU, while 107 students from the 8th and 9th grades participated at Baku State University. During the two-day final round, participants were tasked with solving three algorithmic problems in C++ and Python programming languages, with 3 hours allocated each day. The evaluation was carried out using an automated assessment system.

AzTU has organızed an international training for academic journal edıtors in Azerbaıjan

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has organized the first international training for open-access academic journal editors operating in Azerbaijan. The training program, held online, focused on working in accordance with the requirements of the international Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) platform. Initiated by Khayala Hajiyeva, Director of AzTU’s Library Information Center and DOAJ’s representative editor for Azerbaijan, the main goal of the training was to align scientific journals published in Azerbaijan with international standards and increase the number of Azerbaijani academic journals listed in DOAJ. Dr. Ramazan Turgut, Editor-in-Chief of DOAJ, addressed international criteria, application procedures for the platform, preparation of legal documentation, common mistakes, and key points to pay attention to. Representatives from the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Baku State University, National Aviation Academy, Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, and Mingachevir State University participated in the training. An “Open Day” was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The event was attended by high school students, their teachers and parents, as well as education experts. During the “Open Day,” stands representing faculties, student organizations, structural departments, and student startups were displayed in front of the university. At the faculty stands, deans and department heads provided visitors with detailed information about their activities, projects, academic programs, international relations, and dual degree programs. They also answered questions of interest to prospective students. Later, a guided tour of AzTU’s laboratories and centers was organized for students, with the participation of Eyvaz Mammadli, AzTU’s special representative for prospective student affairs. The prospective students had the opportunity to closely examine the machines and equipment installed in the laboratories and to receive detailed information about the projects being implemented in the centers. A cooperation agreement has been signed between aztu and the company 'Aqualink'

A cooperation agreement has been signed between the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and the company “Aqualink.” According to the agreement, the company will establish a “Water Research and Training” laboratory at AzTU. Students who wish to become professional water engineers will be able to conduct various research projects in the laboratory. Additionally, the agreement includes provisions for students to undergo industrial internships in projects implemented by Aqualink, receive training from specialists of the company’s international partners, and participate in industry-based scientific research. During the event, the rector of AzTU, Vilayat Valiyev, stated that the protection of water bodies from pollution, their purification, the provision of clean and high-quality water to the population, and the recycling of wastewater are among the most pressing issues today. There is a growing need in the labor market for professional water engineers. AzTU places great importance on developing university-industry collaboration to train specialists who meet labor market demands. The cooperation with Aqualink is a continuation of these efforts. Orkhan Mikayil, the director of Aqualink, noted that the company has been operating since 2010 and has implemented more than 200 large-scale projects during this period. Specializing in professional water engineering and chemical solutions, Aqualink is an Azerbaijani brand that has now become a regional company. “We cooperate with more than 50 renowned companies worldwide. Unfortunately, due to the shortage of local professionals, we have to rely on foreign experts. A job fair was held under the auspices of the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population and jointly organized by the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The event aimed to ensure the employment of unemployed and job seekers, as well as to support the entry of students studying in higher courses and graduates who are about to start their labor activity into the labor market, to inform them about vacant jobs appropriate to their specialization and interests, and to create conditions for establishing initial contacts with employers. The fair emphasized the importance of holding such active employment events in ensuring the employment of unemployed and job seekers, as well as in integrating young people into the labor market, ensuring accessibility to vacancies appropriate to their specializations, and meeting employers' needs for qualified personnel in a short time. The next graduation day of the “Code Academy” project “Code For Future” was held. Opening the event with an introductory speech, the head of the AzTU SABAH groups Ayten Sadigova said that the “Code for Future” project plays an important role in the professional development of students. Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications Ayten Movsumova congratulated the graduates and emphasized that they will be able to make innovations in the country's technology sector by developing the knowledge and skills gained within the project in their future lives. Asya Rustamova, the general coordinator of the “Code for Future” project, Tugrul Kapucuoglu, the general director of business development of “Code Academy” and the head of the Academic Department, congratulated the graduates and wished the students success. It was noted that the third and fourth course students of AzTU applied to the “bootcamps” on the basics of programming and cybersecurity within the project, then first semester classes were held for the selected students, and as a final project, the students prepared their practical projects within 21 days. Within the framework of the project, a total of 1,211 students received education at AzTU, formed themselves as personnel in accordance with the requirements of the labor market and gained a number of advantages.  At the end of the event, 247 AzTU students who graduated from the “Code For Future” project in the 2023-2024 spring and 2024-2025 fall semesters were presented with diplomas (150 people), high honors diplomas (35 people), honors diplomas (61 people), and certificates of participation.
