March 31 – On the occasion of the Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis, students of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) visited the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex. During the visit, organized at the initiative of the Student Trade Union Committee, students were provided with detailed information about the genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis and the Genocide Memorial Complex established in Guba. It was noted that on December 30, 2009, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a Decree on the establishment of the “Genocide Memorial Complex” in Guba city in order to convey to the world community the territorial claims and policy of aggression and bloody crimes of Armenian nationalists against Azerbaijan, to preserve the national memory of future generations and to perpetuate the memory of the victims of the genocide. The Guba Genocide Memorial Complex was established with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The complex contains images of various areas of Guba city at the beginning of the 20th century, photos of the construction work carried out there at that time, and the lifestyle of the population. A special section here contains the history of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and interesting photos related to it. On a special map on a touch-screen monitor installed in the complex, it is possible to obtain information in several languages ​​about the genocides committed by Armenians against our people in various regions of our republic in the past century. A corner has also been created here where the work done by national leader Heydar Aliyev to expose and inform the world community about the genocidal policy carried out against Azerbaijanis, as well as the orders he signed for this purpose, are demonstrated. There is also information about the Guba, Javad, Goychay, Shamakhi and Baku districts and detailed information about the atrocities committed by Armenians in these districts. The Guba genocide cemetery was discovered on April 1, 2007, during earthworks in the area. As a result of the research, it was determined that the cemetery is related to the genocide committed by Armenians against the local civilian population in 1918.

Teams from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) participated in the international competition called “CAU Tech Hackathon 2026” held at the Central Asian University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. In this prestigious international event, where 120 teams competed, AzTU teams were represented in the “AI in Healthcare Hackathon 2026” and “International Cybersecurity Capture the Flag (CTF) 2026” directions. The AzTU team competing in the “International Cybersecurity Capture the Flag (CTF) 2026” direction was awarded 7th place. AzTU teams were accompanied by Azad Musayev, coordinator of the Incubation Center. At the same time, in order to ensure the effective participation of the teams in the preparation and competition process, mentoring support was provided by Shamkhal Aliyev, deputy dean of the Faculty of Energy, and Murad Ahmadov, for the “CTF” team. It should be noted that the results of AzTU teams in both directions surpassed those of other Azerbaijani universities.

The working visit of the delegation led by AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev to Finland continues. As part of the visit, the delegation held working meetings at the University of Turku, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. At the University of Turku, the main focus was on cooperation in the fields of data science, artificial intelligence and digital systems, as well as preliminary agreements on joint scientific research, PhD programs and participation in international projects. The meetings with Metropolia University of Applied Sciences focused on cooperation in applied engineering and innovation. During the meeting, cooperation directions were determined on the implementation of the dual education model, the creation of a rapid prototyping laboratory, innovation projects involving students, startup programs and industry-oriented training mechanisms. During the meetings held at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, an agreement was reached on joint activities on artificial intelligence and technological entrepreneurship in education. It should be noted that the AzTU delegation was represented by Aynura Ismayilova, Director of the Institute of Higher Education, and Nijat Huseynov, Acting Director of the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development.

The delegation led by the rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) Vilayat Valiyev is on a official visit to Finland. During the visit, the meetings held at the “ABB” company, as well as the Finnish universities of Vaasa and Tampere, exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, energy systems and smart manufacturing. As a result of the discussions with the “ABB” company, an agreement was reached on the establishment of a joint research-oriented Smart Energy Network as a pilot project at AzTU. During the discussions with Finnish universities, cooperation opportunities in the field of joint education, research, academic exchange, and the application of the university-industry cooperation model in accordance with real industrial needs were discussed. It should be noted that the AzTU delegation was represented by the Director of the Institute of Higher Education, Aynura Ismayilova, and the Acting Director of the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development, Nijat Huseynov.

A graduate of the SABAH groups of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and currently studying at the master's level at AzTU, Safarali Safarli achieved international success by leading the national team representing Azerbaijan at the 51st Geneva International Inventions Exhibition, considered the world's most prestigious innovation platform. 5 projects from Azerbaijan were presented at this prestigious exhibition, which was attended by more than 30 countries, more than 1,000 projects and more than 10,000 visitors. The author of 3 of the projects was Safarali Safarli. His projects were highly appreciated by the international jury and awarded medals. Thus, the team led by Safarali Safarli brought Azerbaijan 3 medals (gold, silver, bronze) with the projects he authored. The “A.I.N.O.S” project, which was awarded the gold medal, is a revolutionary system equipped with laser and high-sensitivity optics that tracks space objects in real time up to a distance of 16.3 parsecs. The “Smart Bed System” project, which was awarded the silver medal, is an intelligent bed that prevents muscle loss in space and conducts medical monitoring using artificial magnetic field technology. The “S.O.N.I.A” project, which was awarded the bronze medal, is an unmanned aerial vehicle with an artificial intelligence-based search and rescue and relief mapping system that operates in autonomous mode for 2 hours.

Within the framework of the “Novruz 2026” camp, organized by the Republican Committee of ETİHİ at the Education and Recreation Center of the Trade Union Committee of Education Workers, various sports and intellectual competitions were held. The events took place in a highly engaging and competitive atmosphere. As part of the camp program, the volleyball competition featured the participation of two teams representing Azerbaijan Technical University, AZTU-1 and AZTU-2. Both teams demonstrated strong performance, with one team being awarded first place and the other securing second place. In addition, during the intellectual competition held within the camp, the media team was awarded first place, while the “AzTex” team representing Azerbaijan Technical University achieved second place. The high level of organization of the event was made possible through the efforts of Araz Pashayev, Chairman of the Trade Union Committee of Education Workers, as well as the dedicated work of the committee members and volunteers, whose contributions are highly acknowledged.

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has achieved a significant milestone in international rankings. According to the results of the “QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026”, the university has been ranked in the 701–750 band in the field of Computer Science and Information Systems. With this result, AzTU has entered the QS Subject Ranking for the first time. Notably, this achievement has been attained in Computer Science and Information Systems one of the most competitive fields globally which further underscores the significance of this accomplishment. This success is considered a logical outcome of the systematic research activities carried out at AzTU in the fields of information technology and computer science, the modernization of the teaching process, and the expansion of international cooperation. As is well known, QS subject rankings are based on key indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations, and the h-index. AzTU’s inclusion in this ranking confirms the growing recognition of the university in the global academic and educational landscape and highlights its increasing competitiveness. At AzTU, targeted measures continue to be implemented in priority areas including artificial intelligence, software engineering, information security, and big data analytics to strengthen human capital development, expand research activities, and enhance international partnerships. This achievement demonstrates that the university’s strategic development course has been effectively defined and reflects the steady strengthening of AzTU’s position in the international academic community.

The Telecommunications and Radiotechnology Museum has been inaugurated at Azerbaijan Technical University (AZTU). The opening ceremony was attended by the university administration, faculty members, students, and industry specialists. The museum has been established to preserve achievements in the fields of telecommunications and radiotechnology and to pass this knowledge on to future generations. It features unique exhibits reflecting different stages of development in the field, including communication devices, radio equipment, and measurement instruments from various periods. The museum will also serve as an additional resource in the educational process. Students will have the opportunity to strengthen their practical knowledge, become familiar with real equipment, and gain a deeper understanding of their specialties. This initiative also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing practical learning opportunities, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by promoting technological awareness and innovation among students. It is planned to further enrich the museum with new exhibits and expand interactive opportunities for students. The AZTU administration emphasized that such initiatives play an important role in strengthening the university’s scientific potential and increasing young people’s interest in technical fields.

Azərbaycan Texniki Universitetində (AzTU) beynəlxalq ESTIEM (European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management) təşkilatının Azərbaycan nümayəndəliyi tərəfindən “Novruz Europe 3D” adlı tədbir keçirilib.   Beynəlxalq tələbə platformasında Azərbayca haqqında məlumatların genişləndirilməsi, həmçinin beynəlxalq əməkdaşlıq mühitinin gücləndirilməsi məqsədilə keçirilən tədbirdə AzTU tələbələri ilə yanaşı, Rusiya, Belarus, Hollandiya, Makedoniya, İspaniya, Serbiya və Polşadan nümayəndələr iştirak edib. Tədbir çərçivəsində AzTU-da bir sıra maarifləndirici və interaktiv sessiyalar (“Azerbaijan 101”, “Politics 101”, “Moderated Debats”) təşkil olunub. Sessiyalarda iştirakçılara Azərbaycanın tarixi, dili, milli-mənəvi dəyərləri, adət-ənənələri barədə məlumat verilib. İkigünlük tədbirin sonunda gənclərin qlobal problemlərə münasibətini öyrənmək məqsədilə “Gənclər ekoloji problemlərin həllində iştirak etməlidirlərmi?” mövzusunda debat təşkil olunub.
