An event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) was held. First, flowers were laid in front of the bust of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the lobby of the university. The event commemorated the dear memory of the sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our lands with a minute of silence. The National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played. In his opening speech, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev welcomed the guests and reviewed the 75-year history of the university. He noted that the foundation of technical education in Azerbaijan was first laid by the Baku City Duma on November 10, 1887. On November 14, 1920, by the decree of the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Revolutionary Committee Nariman Narimanov, the Baku Polytechnic Institute was established on the basis of the Baku Polytechnic, which had departments of Oil Industry, Electromechanics and Architecture and Construction. Since 1923, the Baku Polytechnic Institute has been called the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute. The current AzTU was re-established in November 1950 in Baku under the name of Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute (AzPI) with faculties of Mechanics, Construction, Railways and Hydromelioration. The rector said that for 75 years, AzTU has not only been training engineers, this higher education institution has also been forming patriotic personalities. AzTU is always proud of the successes of its students and graduates. The close participation of AzTU students and graduates in achieving the glorious Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War was an indicator of their high patriotic spirit. Vilayat Valiyev said that the goal of AzTU, which moves forward with the slogan "Create, develop, apply", is to establish a research and entrepreneurial university with an innovative-enterprising academic, graduate and student staff that teaches the development of industry and the solution of issues facing the technological future, and to raise the level of trained engineering personnel to international standards. Expressing his congratulations on the 75th anniversary of AzTU, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov spoke about the role of universities in the formation of personality. Looking at world experience in this direction, Firudin Gurbanov approached professionalism from a different context. He noted that professionalism is also the ability to make the right decision in a crisis situation. Universities also form personalities with this ability. In this sense, the role of universities is of great importance in terms of the formation of people. The Deputy Minister also noted the successful activities of AzTU graduates in various fields of the country. He emphasized that AzTU, which is currently one of the leading higher education institutions in the country, is one of the universities where innovations are applied at the level of modern standards. Honorary graduate of AzTU, statesman, diplomat, historian-scientist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former ambassador Hasan Hasanov congratulated the anniversary of the higher education institution he studied at and spoke about his memories from his university years. Stating that the engineering profession is one of the leading professions in the world, Hasan Hasanov advised students to deeply master the secrets of their specialty. He noted that engineering primarily forms the ability to think in a person. Hasan Hasanov emphasized that AzTU is at the center of his career successes and that he is always grateful to the teaching staff of this university. Honorary graduate of AzTU, Deputy Head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Security, Major General Allahveren Ismayilov also extended his congratulations on the 75th anniversary of AzTU. Allahveren Ismayilov shared his memories of his student years and spoke about the significant role of the university in its formation. Honorary graduate of AzTU, Vice-President of ANAS, Director General of the Institute of Information Technologies, Academician Rasim Alguliyev spoke about the successes achieved by the university over the past 75 years. The academician said that engineering is a creative profession. The application of knowledge taught in the world and its use in solving real problems are now among the main issues. It is the combination of innovation, creativity and practical skills that shape the world today. Rasim Aliguliyev also drew attention to the successes of the engineering personnel trained by AzTU in his speech. The academician also shared his most interesting memories from his years of study at the university with the participants of the event. Later, Advisor to the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, Jala Ahmadova, who spoke, congratulated AzTU on its 75th anniversary. She noted that the ministry and the university jointly implement various projects, and that these projects make positive contributions to the personal development of students. At the event, Professor Ehtiyat Ibragimova of Fergana State University of Uzbekistan read the text of the congratulatory letter addressed by Rector Bahodirjon Shermuhammadov on the anniversary of AzTU. Vice-Rector of Yıldız Technical University of Turkey, Huseyin Yılmaz, also congratulated AzTU on its anniversary and wished success in the activities of the university. Then, according to the order of the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, awards were presented to AzTU teachers who were awarded the “Advanced Education Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan” badge and an honorary diploma. The anniversary event continued with a performance by the Karabakh University “Cadenza” orchestra.

Within the framework of the cooperation of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) with Fergana State University (FSU) of Uzbekistan, the faculty of the Engineering, Economics and Linguistics departments of FSU (60 people in total) visited AzTU as part of an exchange program. AzTU Vice-Rector for International Relations Fariz Mammadov informed the guests about the activities of the university. Then, the guests participated in a training session by Javid Abbasli, an employee of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, got acquainted with the Library Information Center, and held meetings on various topics with teachers and students of the relevant faculties of AzTU. During the meetings, discussions were held between representatives of both universities on future joint teaching and research opportunities.

Within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty”, an event titled “The Triumphant Follower of the Path of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev” was held, jointly organized by the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) and Azerbaijan Technical University. Before the event, the bust of the founder of the modern independent Republic of Azerbaijan, the National Leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev, was visited in the administrative building of the University and his dear memory was commemorated with respect. At the event, the memory of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country was commemorated with a minute of silence. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played. Speaking, the rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, Vilayat Valiyev, noted that the leader's activity in public administration is not only the basis of successful development, but also a very important factor in terms of strengthening stability, ensuring sustainable growth and establishing civil society: "President Ilham Aliyev's idea that "Our word is as valuable as our signature" shows that the promises he made are reflected in practical activities. The most striking example of the fulfillment of the promises made by the head of state to the people is the liberation of our lands from occupation and the raising of our tricolor flag in all our territories. President Ilham Aliyev, who promised to be the President of every Azerbaijani and has proven that he is a man of his word with his practical work and large-scale activities over the past period, has gained the high sympathy and love of the people. The fact that the head of state always upholds the national interests of Azerbaijan has closely united our people around him." V. Valiyev noted that President Ilham Aliyev's purposeful policy is reflected in the development of the country, as well as in the protection of national interests: "This policy also serves to strengthen Azerbaijan's position in the international arena and increase the well-being of the people. President Ilham Aliyev's domestic and foreign policy, which has brought great success to our country, has turned Azerbaijan into an island of stability in the world, a center of multiculturalism, and a safe place for global events and meetings. It can be said with confidence that President Ilham Aliyev's activities will serve to further strengthen Azerbaijan." Speaking, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party - Head of the Central Office Tahir Budagov noted that the contemporary Azerbaijani reality is connected with the eternal ideas of our people's National Leader Heydar Aliyev: "With his far-sighted policy based on national interests, Great Leader Heydar Aliyev has brought numerous successes to our people by ensuring the permanence, irreversibility and eternity of Azerbaijan's independence. Today, we proudly note that the modern Azerbaijani state, which is a source of infinite pride for each of us, is the greatest spiritual and political legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to our nation." Tahir Budagov noted that as a result of the purposeful policy implemented by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party Ilham Aliyev, enriching the inexhaustible statehood heritage of the Great Leader in accordance with modern challenges, unparalleled achievements have been achieved, the unity of the people and the government has been further strengthened, Azerbaijan has become a leading state in the region, and has been recognized as a reliable and constructive partner in the world: “Most importantly, Azerbaijan, which has increased its economic power, political influence, military power, and strengthened its international position, has risen to the peak of Victory by restoring its territorial integrity and full sovereignty. President Ilham Aliyev, who has honorably fulfilled his father's will and all the promises he made to the people, has transformed Azerbaijan into the victorious and powerful state that our Great Leader wanted to see, and has consistently implemented strategic goals, creating new prospects not only for our country but also for our region as a whole.” The Deputy Chairman of the YAP said that the independent and decisive policy of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is aimed at preserving socio-political stability and national unity in our country, continuing socio-economic development, further improving the welfare of the population, successfully implementing the Great Return to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, and finally, establishing peace, security and multifaceted cooperation in the region: “There is an idea that our Great Leader brilliantly said: “The time will come, Azerbaijan will rise like the sun to the world”. Today, President Ilham Aliyev has built a modern, sovereign, whole and new Azerbaijan on the strong foundations created by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. There is no doubt that our people, closely united around their Victorious Leader, will continue to achieve national goals and sign new victories for the sake of a more powerful Azerbaijan.” Then, the speakers spoke about the rich statehood heritage of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the successes achieved as a result of the purposeful policy of President Ilham Aliyev. At the event, membership cards were presented to the University employees newly admitted to the ranks of the New Azerbaijan Party. Then the Anthem of the New Azerbaijan Party was sung. At the end, an artistic performance was presented and a commemorative photo was taken.

An informative and practice-oriented event titled “Green Energy and Environmental Innovations” was organized jointly by the Career Center of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and the Ecology and Chemistry Club. The main goal of the event was to create direct interaction between students and organizations operating in the rapidly developing fields of green energy, environmental innovations, sustainable production, and environmental technologies in Azerbaijan; to discuss current trends, enable experience sharing, and explore opportunities for future cooperation. Within the framework of the program, company presentations, panel and dialogue-oriented discussions, a short networking session, as well as applied training and interactive group work were organized. During the event, Amanlı Sədi Vüqar oğlu, electrical engineer at Baku Shipyard LLC, operating under AZCON Holding, delivered a presentation on the development of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, the prospects of using solar panels in industrial and manufacturing sectors, and the environmental and operational advantages of filtration systems in production facilities. His presentation was conducted in a dialogue-oriented format and was accompanied by discussions based on students’ questions. The event also featured Elnur Əliyev, Deputy Head of the Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety Department of Təmiz Şəhər OJSC, who shared real-life experiences related to practical environmental management, industrial safety, and environmental protection. In the most interactive part of the program, Aycan Nazarova, Coordinator of Bilimsenol Azerbaijan, delivered a presentation titled “The Role of Youth in Solving Global Environmental Problems: Today’s Initiative, Tomorrow’s Sustainability”, followed by an applied training session with active student participation. At the end of the event, it was emphasized that such initiatives contribute to strengthening industry–university cooperation, increasing awareness of green energy and environmental technologies, and supporting the development of youth entrepreneurship and innovation potential. Gratitude was expressed to the Career Center, the Ecology and Chemistry Club, the distinguished speakers, and all students who actively participated. It was noted that this meeting would create new opportunities for future projects and collaborations. A training on “Startup and Innovation” was held for students at the Incubation Center of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) with the participation of employees of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDIA). IDIA project managers Nigar Davud, Khumar Jamilli and Aydin Samadov participated in the training and shared their knowledge and experience with the students. Within the framework of the session, the participants were presented with basic concepts in the startup ecosystem and innovation field. During the training, extensive discussions were held on the topics of “The concept of startup and its essence”, “What is innovation and the importance of an innovative approach”, “The differences between a startup and an ordinary business idea”, “Prototype and MVP concepts”, “Innovation and support programs”, “Ways to start innovation as a student”. At the end of the training, questions of interest to the students were answered, the participants’ opinions on the topic were listened to and interactive discussions were held.

On December 16, 2025, a training session on the use of the AMAS system was organized at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). During the training, Bakhtiyar Badalov, Director of the Research and Development Department of AzTU, provided detailed information about the functional capabilities of the AMAS system and its implementation mechanisms. The impact of the AMAS system on the differentiated salary mechanism, the registration procedure within the system, as well as potential technical and organizational issues that may arise during its use were highlighted. Participants were informed about effective use of the system and ways to promptly resolve possible problems. The training was attended by numerous staff members representing various faculties and departments of the university. At the end of the session, participants’ questions were answered and an exchange of views on the topic took place. The training aimed to contribute to the more efficient implementation of the AMAS system across the university.

Within the framework of institutional cooperation with Elsevier, a leading global provider of scientific information and analytics, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has obtained official access to the SciVal research analytics platform. A relevant agreement has been signed between the parties, granting AzTU’s academic and administrative staff the right to use SciVal for institutional research analysis and strategic planning. SciVal is an internationally recognized analytical platform designed to support higher education and research institutions in assessing research performance, analyzing scientific productivity and impact, identifying collaboration networks, and benchmarking against global peers. The integration of SciVal into AzTU’s research management infrastructure is expected to significantly enhance evidence-based decision-making, improve institutional research governance, and strengthen the university’s position within the international academic and scientific landscape. As part of this collaboration, on 15 December 2025, a training session dedicated to the effective use of the SciVal platform was conducted for the senior management of Azerbaijan Technical University. Ms. Saida Sak, a representative of Elsevier, delivered the training. During the session, the core functionalities of the platform, its analytical indicators, and methodologies for evaluating research performance at the institutional level were presented in detail. Special attention was given to the practical application of SciVal data in strategic research planning, identification of priority research areas, enhancement of international research collaboration, and improvement of overall academic management efficiency. The training also emphasized the role of SciVal analytics in aligning institutional research strategies with global scientific trends and performance benchmarks. It should be noted that, in the next stage, additional training sessions and methodological support activities are planned for AzTU’s academic staff to ensure the effective and sustainable use of the SciVal platform. These initiatives are expected to contribute to the university’s deeper integration into the global research ecosystem and to the further development of its scientific potential.

Within the framework of the 75th anniversary of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), the university's Theater Club once again staged the comedy "The Story of Monsieur Jordan and the Dervish Mastali Shah" by playwright Mirza Fatali Akhundov. Members of the Theater Club presented the play in front of the AzTU administration, employees and students. The interesting stage design and the acting skills of the students were accompanied by applause from the audience. It should be noted that the essence of the work, written in Azerbaijani in 1850, is the criticism of illiteracy and ignorance, and the development of human life by changing science. After the play, rector Vilayat Valiyev talked with the students and thanked them for the interesting presentation. He noted that a number of projects are being implemented at AzTU to organize students' leisure time, and various student clubs operate. The rector positively assessed the students' participation in the aforementioned clubs and wished them success in their next projects. The students, in turn, thanked the AzTU administration for the attention shown to them and the conditions created.

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has risen to 835th place (1014th place in 2024) according to the results of the international ranking “UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025”. While AzTU’s total score in 2024 was 4645, it reached 5798 points in 2025. A significant increase was recorded in the “Setting & Infrastructure”, “Energy & Climate Change”, “Waste”, “Water”, “Transportation” and “Education & Research” indicators according to the evaluation criteria. The results achieved are a logical result of the institutional reforms carried out at the university in recent years, the work done to increase management based on the principles of sustainable development, environmental responsibility, as well as the strengthening of educational and scientific research activities. It should be noted that AzTU continues to implement systematic measures to expand its activities in accordance with international standards, implement the “green university” concept and further strengthen its positions in global rankings.

A group of students from the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) were given an excursion to the Military History Museum. During the excursion, it was reported that the two-story Military History Museum was established in 1992. The students were given extensive information about the development path of Azerbaijani military history from ancient times to the present day, various equipment and weapons used by our army. The students were closely acquainted with the photos, documents, personal belongings, military uniforms reflecting the life and activities of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the museum, and his work in the field of army building. In addition, the students were provided with detailed information about the Victory Hall dedicated to the 44-day Patriotic War, as well as the military equipment displayed in the courtyard of the museum.
