An infosession on "Artificial intelligence technologies and Big Data analytics in digital health systems" was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) organized by the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. Speaking at the infosession, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev spoke about the scientific research conducted by the Institute of Biomedical Engineering over the past year in the direction of applying artificial intelligence in medicine. The Rector said that cooperation between the institute and medical institutions is planned in the near future. It was also emphasized that this cooperation will create useful opportunities for solving existing problems in this area. Chairman of the German-Azerbaijani Radiological and Neuroradiological Society, Head of the Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Neuroradiology Clinic in Troisdorf, Germany, Fellow of the University of Cologne and Director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of AzTU, Professor Nuran Abdullayev, spoke about the work done by the institute he leads over the past year. He noted that the institute has achieved a number of firsts in Azerbaijan during this period. The Institute of Biomedical Engineering is the first institute in the country where joint scientific research is carried out in the field of engineering and medicine. Scientific research conducted at the institute has been published in international scientific journals. Nuran Abdullayev also spoke about the contribution of artificial intelligence to solving many issues in diagnostics and treatment. He said that a proposal plan for the institute's field of activity for all institutions in Azerbaijan is already ready and the institute is open to all cooperation in this direction. Director of the Republican Clinical Hospital, Honored Physician, Spine Surgeon, Orthopedic Traumatologist, Sports Medicine Specialist, Doctor of Philosophy Elviz Gasimov called the establishment of strategic cooperation between AzTU and relevant state institutions on artificial intelligence-based biomedical solutions a commendable step. He said that he hopes that the AzTU Institute of Biomedical Engineering will also contribute to the process of digitalization of the healthcare system. Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) employee Kenan Askerli was awarded the “Honorary Award for Public Service” within the framework of the Azerbaijan regional stage of the “50th ICPC – International Inter-University Programming Competition”. The “Honorary Award for Public Service” of the ICPC Foundation is presented to an individual or group that has played a significant role in promoting the International Inter-University Programming Competition.   It should be noted that the ICPC (International Inter-University Programming Competition) has been held regularly since 1977. Every year, more than 50,000 students from more than 3,000 universities in 110 countries participate in this competition.

Nar conducts career development training for students of AzTU

Mobile operator Nar, known for its affordable offers, has implemented another project aimed at developing professional talent in the country. Within the frame of the partnership that has been ongoing for more than 10 years, Nar has organized a career planning training for students of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). During the training, students of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) discussed career opportunities in the mobile communications sector, key requirements for young specialists, as well as ways to adapt to the rapidly changing digital environment. Within the program, participants gained knowledge on CV writing, preparing motivation letters and successfully passing job interviews. Nar representatives also shared their experience with students on the importance of such professional qualities as effective communication, result orientation, a responsible attitude and teamwork. The training, organized in an interactive format, also addressed students’ questions about the telecommunications sector, the internal processes of a mobile operator and available internship programs. The teaching staff of the University of Uzbekistan visited AzTU

Within the framework of the cooperation of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) with the Andijan State Technical Institute (ASTI) of Uzbekistan, a total of 14 professors and teaching staff from the Departments of Transport and Logistics and Economics of the ASTI visited AzTU as part of an exchange program.  AzTU Vice-Rector for International Relations Fariz Mammadov informed the guests about the activities of the university. Then, the guests met with teachers and students of the Faculties of Transport and Logistics and Industrial Economics and Management of AzTU, respectively, got acquainted with the educational process, and organized seminars on various topics. AzTU students participated in an international event in Serbia

The ESTIEM Local Group (LG) consisting of students from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) participated in the LXXI Council Meeting of the ESTIEM Network held in Niš, Serbia. This event is one of the main activities of ESTIEM (European Students Association for Industrial Engineering and Management), and aims to expand the opportunities for international cooperation of local groups, exchange experiences and participate in the decision-making process of the network. The AzTU ESTIEM Local Group was represented at the event by students - Muhammad-Ali Salamov and Ulvi Jafarli. They actively participated in the decision-making mechanisms of the network. At the meeting, which was attended by approximately 300 people, the main goal of the AzTU students was to ensure the transition of the local group to the Observer level. As a result of the level of preparation and professional presentation of the AzTU representatives, unlike other local groups that participated in parallel at the Guest level, the AzTU ESTIEM Local Group was the first group to move to the next stage. AzTU students successfully demonstrated both the group's activities and the "Novruz Europe 3D" project in their presentations. AzTU team qualified for the semifinals of the international competition to be held in Georgia

The regional stage of the “50th ICPC – Interuniversity International Programming Competition” was held in Azerbaijan. The competition was organized by the “ICPC Azerbaijan” community, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and ADA University, in partnership with the Innovation and Digital Development Agency. The regional stage of the competition was organized at AzTU. 52 teams from 20 higher education institutions of Azerbaijan (each consisting of three students and one team leader), as well as 3 teams of schoolchildren outside the competition, participated in the competition. The teams were tasked with solving 12 algorithmic problems in C++, Java or Python programming languages ​​within 5 hours and testing these solutions in an automatic evaluation system. According to the results of the competition, the "AzTU4" team (Samad Mastanov, Alimdar Musayev, Yusif Ismayilov, team leaders: Kenan Askerli, Etibar Seyidzadeh) was awarded a III degree certificate and received the right to participate in the semi-final stage of the "50th ICPC - International Interuniversity Programming Competition" and the South Caucasus Open Championship (in team and individual nominations) to be held in Tbilisi, Georgia on December 15-17, 2025. 21 teams will represent Azerbaijan in the semi-final stage of the competition.

Training on ISO 21001:2018 standard has been completed at the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology

The next training on ISO 21001:2018 - Education Management Standard has been successfully completed at the Faculty of Special Engineering and Technology of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The trainings covered the topics of "Internal Audit" and "International Standard for Management of Students and Implementation - Information". Dean Yadullah Babayev said that the implementation of the ISO 21001:2018 standard will make a significant contribution to the optimization of management processes at the faculty, the systematic organization of educational activities and the strengthening of a student-oriented approach. He said that this process implemented at the faculty will create conditions for a higher level of transparency, planning and division of responsibilities in education. Speaking at the training, Samir Novruzlu, Chairman of the "Quality Association" Public Union, noted that the implementation of the ISO 21001:2018 standard will not only bring the faculty's management system into line with international requirements, but will also lead to the strengthening of a quality culture here. According to him, the implementation of this standard will increase the competitiveness of the faculty, increase students' satisfaction with educational services and contribute to expanding international cooperation opportunities. During the training, the participants were introduced to the essence of internal audit under ISO 21001, audit planning, record keeping, identification of compliance and non-compliance, as well as tools for improving processes in educational organizations. In addition, the participants also acquired practical knowledge in the areas of working with students, communication, information and organizing operational activities in accordance with the standard requirements. AzTU employees participated in the training organized by the Ministry of Energy

Within the framework of the “Energy Efficiency and Climate” project implemented by the World Bank through the “Accelerated Technical Assistance Facility for Azerbaijan” (AZTAF), an educational training on increasing energy efficiency in buildings was held in Shamakhi city, organized by the Ministry of Energy. The goal is to implement energy efficiency measures in buildings, as well as to increase knowledge and skills for the effective management of “Energy Efficiency Fund” projects. The training was attended by Asif Sadigov, senior lecturer of the Department of Energy Efficiency and Green Energy Technologies of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), and Murad Rzayev, assistant of the department. During the two-day training, the participants were presented with topics on energy audit, modernization and improvement mechanisms for energy efficiency of buildings, project management, monitoring and evaluation. At the same time, detailed information was provided about the country's energy efficiency policy. In order to ensure that trainings for a wider audience will be conducted by local specialists in the future, training was held for local auditors. A delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training of the Republic of South Africa, Ms. Nomusa Dube-Ncube, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as part of their visit to our country. The guests met with the Rector of AzTU, Vilayat Valiyev, and representatives of the university. Welcoming the guests, Rector Vilayat Valiyev expressed his satisfaction with seeing them at AzTU. The Rector informed the guests about the work done at the university, the educational programs implemented, the projects implemented, international cooperation, as well as the future goals of AzTU in various fields.
