Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has been awarded 5 stars (“excellent”) within the framework of the “QS Stars” evaluation program, one of the world’s most prestigious rating systems. This important achievement is an indicator of international recognition of AzTU in key areas of activity such as teaching, research, management, diversity, equality and inclusion, graduate employment, infrastructure provision, international cooperation, social impact, innovation and knowledge transfer. The “QS Stars” system supports the global recognition of higher education institutions by evaluating their strength and areas of development potential using objective criteria. It should be noted that compared to Turkey and the countries of the Central Asian region, Azerbaijan is in a leading position in the number of higher education institutions whose activities have been evaluated with 5 stars (“excellent”) for the first time in the “QS Stars” rating system.

A seminar titled “Maximizing Speaking Time” was held for English language instructors from the Department of Foreign Languages at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Organized under the leadership of Professor Sabina Almammedova, Head of the Department, the seminar featured Jordan Taylor Brown, a U.S. English language specialist, as the main trainer. The event also welcomed English language expert Tiffany Tillman as a guest of honor. During the seminar, participants explored international best practices and took part in interactive activities designed to enhance students' speaking skills. The hands-on approach allowed faculty members to engage in practical exercises and discussions tailored to modern language teaching methodologies. Following the seminar, participants applied the techniques and approaches they had learned by developing personalized lesson plans aimed at increasing student engagement in speaking activities. the conclusion of the event, all participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their active involvement and commitment to professional growth.

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) made a strong impression at the International Education Fair held over two days in Istanbul, Turkey. Representing AzTU at the exhibition were Orkhan Vatankhah, Head of the International Relations Department; Emin Abiyev, Head of the Master’s Programs Center of the Higher Education Institute; Zemfira Suleymanova, Head of the Foreign Students Admission Sector; and Khanim Agadadashova, Leading Specialist of the same sector. On the first day of the visit, the AzTU delegation paid visits to the International Community School and the Koç School, where they held productive meetings with both school administrations and students. During these sessions, the team presented comprehensive information about AzTU’s academic programs, international partnerships, educational opportunities, and the supportive environment the university offers its students. AzTU’s participation in the fair served as a valuable opportunity to expand international relationships, strengthen academic collaboration, and promote the university as a leading destination for higher education in the region. On the second day of the visit, the AzTU delegation took part in the International Education Exhibition, where they engaged directly with prospective students from Turkey and other countries, as well as their parents. Throughout the event, the university representatives provided detailed information about AzTU’s academic environment, its strong foundation in technical disciplines, state-of-the-art laboratories, and growing international collaborations. AzTU’s exhibition stand attracted significant interest from attendees. The university’s presentations were met with enthusiasm and received high praise for their clarity, professionalism, and informative content.

Artificial intelligence (AI) plays an increasingly significant role across various domains, including the economy, culture, art, and politics. Speaking to journalists during the international conference “Artificial Intelligence in the Contemporary Art Space: problems and prospects”, Professor Vilayat Valiyev, Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), emphasized the importance of AI in today’s world and its growing impact in Azerbaijan. Professor Valiyev noted that the conference, organized by the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, is a testament to the rising relevance of AI in creative fields. “We are witnessing a growing number of AI applications in culture and the arts,” he stated. “The core nature of artificial intelligence lies in its being an applied field. At Azerbaijan Technical University, we have developed a serious platform for AI research and implementation.” He highlighted several key sectors where AI is already making a cruitial difference, including defense, energy, electronics, and telecommunications. “For instance, AI technologies are being actively utilized in the defense industry of Azerbaijan. Similarly, the energy sector has become one of the most dynamic fields for AI application,” he said. “The electronics and telecommunications industries also benefit from AI integration, supporting efficiency and innovation.” Professor Valiyev emphasized that although AI cannot replace humans, it significantly enhances human capabilities and productivity. “The most critical point is that AI does not replace people—it supports them. As humans continue to learn and evolve alongside these technologies, we are achieving serious progress,” he concluded.

On April 11, Azerbaijan hosted its first international scientific-theoretical conference on the topic "Artificial Intelligence in the Contemporary Art Space: Problems and Prospects". The conference was organized by the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, with support from the Institute of Information Technologies and Azerbaijan Technical University. The event began with the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, marking the significance of the occasion. Opening the conference, Professor Jeyran Mahmudova, Rector of AZMIU, highlighted the increasing national focus on artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. She noted that, as per the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev issued on March 19, 2025, the "Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025–2028" had been officially approved, setting forth key objectives for the country's development in this field. In his speech, Isa Habibbeyli, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, emphasized the transformative impact of AI on various sectors of society. He stated that artificial intelligence is constantly evolving, influencing all aspects of human life and society: “There is no area of human activity where the effects of artificial intelligence are not being felt. This is a challenge of our time, and it is incumbent upon every country and institution to address it. The recent decrees signed by President Ilham Aliyev underscore the importance Azerbaijan places on AI and its future development.” Habibbeyli further outlined the work being done by Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in applying AI technologies and emphasized the importance of integrating international best practices in the field. Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Director General of the Institute of Information Technologies at the Ministry of Science and Education, addressed the broader use of AI across various industries. He noted that AI technologies are now pervasive, especially in state digital technologies and industrial processes. However, Alguliyev pointed out the unique challenges associated with applying AI in the realms of culture and art. He explained that, unlike other fields where mathematical modeling and system construction are more straightforward, the integration of AI into creative sectors is far more complex: “While AI has proven to be an invaluable tool in many industries, its application in the arts has raised both exciting opportunities and ethical concerns. The artistic process is inherently creative, and blending AI technologies with this creativity presents unique challenges.” Professor Vilayat Valiyev, Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, also addressed the conference, stressing the rapid development of technological processes in Azerbaijan. He spoke about the university's efforts to align educational and research programs with contemporary technological advancements. He emphasized the need for universities and research institutes to collaborate in advancing fields like infocommunications, AI, control systems, information security, and aerospace systems. “We must foster collaboration between institutions to conduct groundbreaking research and develop innovative models for the future,” Vilayat Valiyev stated. The conference featured a presentation of a video clip created using AI technology, showcasing the growing influence of AI in creative fields. During the plenary session, leading scientists and researchers from Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Northern Cyprus, and Azerbaijan shared their insights. In addition to in-person attendees, many participants also joined the conference virtually. The event continued with several focused section meetings, addressing topics such as "Practical Applications of AI Tools," "A Vision of the Future with AI," and "Socio-Humanitarian Aspects of AI Use." In these sessions, approximately 70 researchers from universities across Azerbaijan and abroad presented their findings on the use of AI in various sectors, from healthcare and education to culture and social sciences.

Hüseyin Topuz, the Director of “Baykar Technological Azerbaijan”, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). During his visit, he met with the Rector of AzTU Vilayat Valiyev and university representatives. Ahmet Köse, Director of the “Bilim Baku” Center, also attended the meeting. Rector Vilayat Valiyev welcomed the guests and spoke about the projects implemented at the university, as well as the efforts made to develop modern engineering education. He emphasized that the cooperation established with Baykar Technological Azerbaijan is an important step toward strengthening university-industry collaboration. Hüseyin Topuz expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and stated his interest in cooperating with universities. He also shared his satisfaction with participating in joint projects with AzTU. Subsequently, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between AzTU and Baykar Technological Azerbaijan to promote cooperation in the fields of science, education, and technology. The document outlines plans for joint scientific research projects, student internship programs, collaborative teaching and training activities, the organization of conferences and seminars, and the expansion of academic cooperation. In line with the objectives of the Memorandum, both parties also plan to develop joint courses and programs that meet international standards, organize scientific events, and create training opportunities for students and young faculty members of the university.

A representative from the Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE), under the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities of the Kingdom of Spain, Ana Kornexo Roman, along with the Vice-Rector for Internationalization of Jaén University in Spain, Karmen Conti-Himenez, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as a part of their official visit to Azerbaijan. The delegation were accompanied by representatives from the Spanish Embassy in Azerbaijan. Welcoming the guests, Fariz Mammadov, Vice-Rector for International Relations at AzTU, spoke about the  work at the university in the areas of teaching, research, international cooperation, and rankings. He also provided information about AzTU's collaboration with Spanish higher education institutions. Ana Kornexo Roman, a representative of SEPIE, shared information about the activities of the institution and emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between higher education institutions in Spain and Azerbaijan. During the meeting, the prospects for expanding AzTU's cooperation with Spanish higher education institutions were discussed.

An event on the topic of “Industrial Property Objects and Their Registration” was organized at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) with the support of the Intellectual Property Agency. During the event, Subhan Namazov, Vice Rector for Science and Innovation at AzTU, emphasized the strategic importance of protecting and effectively managing intellectual property for realizing the country's scientific potential. He pointed out that the collaboration between scientific research and higher education institutions and the agency would lay a solid foundation for future successes. He also noted that awareness-raising efforts in the field of intellectual property would be crucial for attracting young researchers to this area and forming an innovative environment. In her speech, Sevinj Zeynalova, Head of the Invention and Utility Model Expertise Department at the Patent and Trademark Expertise Centre of the Intellectual Property Agency, thanked the university leadership for organizing the event and regarded the meeting as the first step toward mutual collaboration. The event, aimed at increasing knowledge on the protection of intellectual property, included presentations by experts for the participants. Sevinj Zeynalova gave a presentation on “Expertise on the Nature of Intellectual Property Objects” and “International and Regional Patent Procedures,” while Afat Qasimova, Head of the Initial Expertise and Industrial Design Expertise Department at the Patent and Trademark Expertise Centre, discussed “Patentable Objects and the Preparation and Submission of Patent Claims.” The event continued with interactive discussions, where representatives of the agency answered participants’ questions. Books on intellectual property authored by Kamran İmanov, Chairman of the Board of the Intellectual Property Agency, were gifted to the AzTU library.

As part of the AI-Baku 2025: Artificial Intelligence and Biomedical Innovations Azerbaijan-Germany Strategic Partnership Forum, a scientific seminar on “Modern Approaches in the Treatment of Ischemic Strokes” and a master class in the Angiography Laboratory were held at Yeni Clinic. The event, aimed at discussing the latest innovations and expanding the possibilities of clinical practice, featured notable speakers including Anar Israfilov, Deputy Executive Director of TABİB (Health Management Union), Parvin Akbarov, Advisor of the Executive Director of TABİB, Deputy Director of Yeni Clinic, and Head of the Somatika and Stroke Center, as well as Professor Nuran Abdullayev, Chair of the Germany-Azerbaijan Radiology and Neuroradiology Society, Head of the Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Neuroradiology Clinic in Rein-Sieg, Germany, affiliated with Cologne University, and Director of AzTU’s Institute of Biomedical Engineering. In his speech, Anar Israfilov emphasized that stroke is a significant health issue in modern society, highlighting the importance and role of stroke centers. Parvin Akbarov pointed out the necessity of a multidisciplinary team for the treatment of ischemic strokes and other neurological diseases, emphasizing the efforts being made in Azerbaijan in this direction. He also discussed the ongoing work to align the stroke-ready services at four TABİB hospitals according to international standards. Professor Nuran Abdullayev stated that the AI-Baku 2025: Artificial Intelligence and Biomedical Innovations Azerbaijan-Germany Strategic Partnership Forum was organized in alignment with the priority goals of the “Artificial Intelligence Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025–2028”, approved by the Presidential Decree of March 19, 2025. He also mentioned that artificial intelligence is now an inevitable part of modern approaches in ischemic stroke treatment and that its application is crucial. Therefore, it was decided to hold such a scientific-practical conference as a part of the forum. He highlighted examples where evidence-based, well-structured modern stroke centres have caused revolutionary changes in healthcare systems of other countries and shared detailed information on modern treatment approaches based on European experiences. In discussing mobile stroke diagnostics, Professor Nuran Abdullayev emphasized its crucial importance for the near future. He also underscored the significance of the seminar in terms of professional development in the medical field and sharing international experiences. During the seminar, which was conducted in an interactive format, clinical experiences and current approaches were presented. Other doctors from Yeni Clinic also participated in the discussions. Following the seminar, a master class was held in the Angiography Laboratory. During the session, Professor Nuran Abdullayev provided an in-depth presentation on the latest surgical techniques performed on brain blood vessels, showcasing these techniques to Azerbaijani colleagues. The focus of the master class was on advanced intervention techniques used in the treatment of brain strokes. Professor Abdullayev demonstrated the latest surgical technique he developed, as well as the newest stent, which has already been patented in Europe. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with stents, manufactured with the most modern engineering technologies, which are currently not in use in Azerbaijan but have been applied in the treatment of brain aneurysms. It is important to note that during the seminar at Yeni Clinic, for the first time, information on the application of new technologies was presented to a wider audience, and innovative approaches in the treatment of brain blood vessels were demonstrated. Furthermore, the scientific research on stents made with the latest engineering technologies will continue in Azerbaijan. This work will also be supported by the newly opened “AI-MED LAB” at AzTU, which was inaugurated as part of the AI-Baku 2025 forum. One of the  key objectives of the lab is to conduct such scientific research and represent Azerbaijan at the international level. This will not only contribute to our national healthcare but will also play an important role in global scientific innovations and the advancement of modern science.

Students of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) have achieved success in a knowledge competition organized by the Ministry of Science and Education in collaboration with the Dendrology Institute on the occasion of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” and the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). The device titled “CO2toD”, jointly developed by Aliyoldash Amiraslanli, a student of AzTU's SABAH Groups, and Anabaji Amiraslanova, a student from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, was awarded first place in the competition. It is worth noting that the device was created with the aim of contributing to the fight against global warming, one of the most pressing issues in the world today. The startup has previously been awarded first place at the International Green STEAM Azerbaijan Festival, second place at the World Robot Olympiad, and has received various other awards at different competitions. Rector of AzTU, Vilayat Valiyev, met with the students and congratulated them on their achievement. He expressed his wish for their future success and encouraged the sustainability of such accomplishments.
