The delegation led by the rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) Vilayat Valiyev held meetings with a number of higher education institutions of this country as part of its visit to the People's Republic of China. As part of the visit, the AzTU delegation visited Shanghai University of Science and Technology, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai University of Engineering Sciences and Tongji University in Shanghai, and Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology in Nanjing to discuss cooperation opportunities. During the meetings, cooperation agreements were signed with Shanghai University of Science and Technology, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai University of Engineering Sciences and Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology. It should be noted that the delegation led by the rector was represented by Fariz Mammadov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Rahid Alakbarli, Director of the Institute of Defense Technologies and Cybersecurity, and Farhad Rustamzade, Protocol Sector Specialist.

The Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) held an expanded meeting as part of preparations for the 2025/2026 academic year. AzTU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Nurali Yusifbeyli, congratulated the teachers on the start of the new academic year. He spoke about the work done to improve the quality of education at the faculty and emphasized the importance of the faculty training personnel for such a strategically important field as the defense industry. Nurali Yusifbeyli noted the importance of continuing activities in this direction more intensively and wished the faculty success in the new academic year. Then, the Dean of the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology, Associate Professor Yadullah Babayev, made a speech and noted the importance of adapting the educational process conducted at the faculty to the level of international subject programs. He touched upon the importance of each of the subjects taught at the faculty and expressed the need to further increase the correspondence of subjects with specialties. He also emphasized the importance of preparing students as professional specialists who meet the requirements of the labor market. The Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty, Doctor of Philosophy in Technology, Goshgar Rasulov, made a comprehensive presentation on the results achieved in the past academic year, the number of newly admitted bachelor's and master's students to the faculty, as well as expectations for the new academic year. Finally, the opinions of the teachers teaching at the faculty were listened to and the importance of such meetings being continuous was noted.

The international scientific and telecommunications cooperation of the Faculty of Special Engineering and Technology of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is expanding. The international training-seminar on the topic “Orbital Synergy: Global Perspectives of Space Communications” attended by faculty members was dedicated to the analysis of new development directions and recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T and ITU-R). Representatives of 8 countries participated in the event organized by the International Satellite Communications Management. The seminar included presentations and extensive discussions on the opportunities and problems of connecting to the Internet of Things (IoT) via satellite communication, the regulation of mobile networks for Europe and Asia based on D2D (Device-to-Device) principles, as well as cybersecurity risks in space systems. Dean of the faculty, Associate Professor Yadullah Babayev, Professor Bayram Ibrahimov, and senior lecturer Malik Aliyev were presented with an ITU international certificate for their active participation in the training-seminar. This seminar, in addition to strengthening the faculty's international scientific reputation, further expands the university's opportunities for global cooperation in the field of space and telecommunications.

Seven students of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) will study at Turkish universities on exchange in the fall semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Some of them have won the right to study at prestigious Turkish universities for one semester under the “Turkey Scholarships for International Exchange” (TIES) program, while others have won the right to study at prestigious Turkish universities for one semester under bilateral cooperation. Thus, students of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications Inara Guliyeva and Dunya Ismayilova, as well as a student of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy Rahim Rahimli will study at Istanbul Jarrahpasha University and Gazi University, respectively, under the TIES program. Students of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications Aytaj Bunyadova and Sevinj Murselli, and a student of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy Zarifa Kuluzadeh will continue their studies at Middle East Technical University (METU) within the framework of bilateral cooperation. Ali Jafarli, a student of the Faculty of Transport and Logistics, will study at Istanbul Kultur University. AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev met with the students and wished them success in their studies and future activities.

Within the framework of the cooperation between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) of Pakistan, an exchange program was organized at AzTU for students of the “Executive MBA” program of the NUST Business School. The purpose of the exchange program was to increase the knowledge and skills of Pakistani students in business, technology and sustainable development in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals, and to strengthen cooperation between AzTU and NUST. The training session titled “Business, Technology and Sustainability” organized for NUST students covered topics such as business analytics, the role of business education in human capital development, Sustainable Development Goals and business, the application of artificial intelligence in business processes, and related ethical issues. At the end of the training, the participants were presented with a certificate. Within the framework of the program, NUST students got acquainted with the training and educational infrastructure of AzTU. The students also visited Baku and the regions, got acquainted with the history and culture of Azerbaijan, and tasted the dishes of national cuisine.

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Union Leyla Aliyeva and head of Baku Media Center Arzu Aliyeva participated in a coastal cleaning campaign in Bilgah. Active members of the Student Youth Organization (TGT) of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) also participated in the campaign organized by IDEA Public Union. About five tons of waste collected during the campaign were delivered to the Balakhani solid waste sorting plant of "Temiz Shahar" OJSC. The main goal of the campaign is to promote cleanliness on the seashore and involve people in joint efforts to protect the marine environment. The next campaign was organized in the section of the Vilashchay River that passes through the Istisu village of Masalli district. AzTU students were among the volunteers participating in the campaign. They were provided with special clothing, gloves and other necessary equipment to protect personal health and safety, as well as to organize activities more effectively. The total volume of waste collected was about 1 ton, and most of it was single-use plastic products, which seriously pollute the soil and water ecosystem. The organized clean-up campaigns are not limited to just collecting waste, but are also of great importance in terms of sustainability and preserving the ecological balance. IDEA Public Union calls on citizens to be sensitive to environmental protection while relaxing on the beaches, to keep the coast clean, to behave responsibly by not throwing waste around, and not to leave the waste generated in the area.

The next scientific article of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) entitled “From Bedside to Bot-Side: Artificial Intelligence in Emergency Appendicitis Management” was published in the journal “Life” indexed in international databases together with researchers from different European countries. The article comparatively investigated the effectiveness of artificial intelligence technologies (GPT-4.5, DeepSeek R1 and machine learning models) in the diagnosis of appendicitis and surgical decision-making in patients presenting to the emergency department with pain. Clinical, laboratory and radiological indicators of patients were analyzed within the framework of a multicenter retrospective study conducted in different centers in Germany, as well as at AzTU. The results showed that artificial intelligence-based approaches demonstrate a high level of consistency with the decisions of surgeons with years of experience and can support doctors in the future, especially in resource-limited healthcare environments. This successful research once again confirms both the potential for international collaboration at AzTU's Institute of Biomedical Engineering and the scientific contributions of university scientists in the field of artificial intelligence and biomedical engineering.

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) thanked the “VATAN” and “KARABAĞ X” teams of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Thus, two of the three AzTU teams that won the “TAI Lift Up 2024 Industry-Oriented Graduation Project – Graduate Projects” competition in the 2024/2025 academic year, “VATAN” and “KARABAĞ X”, were thanked by “TAI Lift Up” for fully fulfilling their obligations. The “VATAN” team, consisting of 4th-year students, completed a diploma project on the topic “Reduction of residual stresses and optimization of NC program depending on the rolling direction of the material in mechanical processing parts” under the leadership of Sarvan Aziz, associate professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology of AzTU. Within the framework of the project, the possibilities of application in the aerospace industry, the regularity of formation of residual stresses and the characteristics of changes in mechanical indicators during the hot rolling process of aluminum alloys were determined based on the physical, mechanical and chemical properties of aluminum alloys, the degree of influence of the parameters of the hot rolling process of aluminum alloys on the formation of residual stresses was examined, and based on the study of the mechanical properties of the ultra-high-strength Al-Zn-Mg-Cu compound intended for use in aircraft, the technological analysis of the recrystallization process and residual stress under deformation during hot rolling of the 7055 aluminum alloy was carried out. The “KARABAĞ X” team, under the leadership of Professor Nizami Yusubov, head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology of AzTU, completed a diploma project on the topic “Green mechanical processing and durability of cutting tools”. In order to measure the surface integrity and cutting force during milling of titanium alloy with two different cooling methods, the optimization of cutting parameters using different cutting speeds, feeds and depths of cut in the final milling process was carried out using ANOVA and Taguchi methods to analyze the effect on surface integrity and tool life. In the study, faster heat removal was observed during the milling process with minimal lubrication compared to the dissolved oil. “TUSAŞ Lift Up 2024 Industry-Oriented Graduation Project – Graduate Projects” competition provides the participation of AzTU undergraduate engineering students by forming teams. The coordination of the project work is carried out by the School of Lifelong Learning.
