On May 21, the 2024/2025 season of the Azerbaijan Student League in futsal among students of higher education institutions was concluded. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Education, President of the Azerbaijan Student Football Federation Public Union Firudin Gurbanov, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade, Chairman of the Republican Committee of the Azerbaijan Free Trade Union of Education Workers Araz Pashayev, officials of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Student Football Federation Public Union, and veteran football players. It should be noted that the Azerbaijan Student League has been held since 2023 with the organization of the Ministry of Science and Education and the Azerbaijan Student Football Federation Public Union, with the support of the Republican Committee of the Azerbaijan Free Trade Union of Education Workers and the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan. The purpose of holding the league was to promote futsal among students of higher education institutions, identify promising athletes among them, increase interest in this sport, and form a futsal national team consisting of students. The 2024/2025 season of the Azerbaijan Student League started on November 29, 2024, and 12 higher education institutions competed in the league. The team of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) took second place in the final stage of the league. After the games, an award ceremony was held for the winners. The winning teams were presented with medals and cash prizes.

The Republican Committee of the Azerbaijan Free Trade Union of Education Workers (ATIAHI) held a ceremony to present the “Named Scholarship” to students who actively participate in education and the student trade union movement. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov, Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan Sahib Mammadov, Chairman of the ATIAHI Republican Committee Araz Pashayev, Chairman of the Science and Education Committee of the Milli Majlis Anar Isgandarov, heads of higher education institutions, teachers and students. First, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, and the memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and our heroes who died for the territorial integrity of our country was commemorated with a minute of silence. The speakers spoke about the youth policy implemented in our country, the development of education and the measures taken towards the social welfare of students. It was noted that the “Named Scholarship” project played a significant role in increasing students’ interest in science, education and social activism. It should be noted that within the framework of this project, which has been implemented by ATIAHI since 1995, 3179 students have been awarded scholarships to date. For the 2024–2025 academic year, 308 students were awarded "Named Scholarships". It is gratifying that among these students, there are 14 students who actively participate in the initiatives of the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC) of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and show excellent results in their classes.

The Republican AIDS Center (RACC) of the Ministry of Health held an information session at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as part of the measures to combat the disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (HIV infection). The main goal of the event, organized by the AzTU Student Youth Organization, was to raise awareness among students about the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and to emphasize the importance of preventive measures in this area. The awareness-raising event provided extensive information on the ways of HIV and AIDS transmission, methods of prevention, and the impact of the disease on society. The students were also explained the importance of being properly informed on this topic and the issues of protecting the rights of people living with HIV.

On May 13-16, in Turkestan, Kazakhstan, organized by the "Turkish Engineers Association" and invited by the Republican Committee of the Free Trade Union of Education Workers of Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Trade Union Committee (TUC) of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Professor Mehman Hasanov, Head of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications, Professor Yadigar Imamverdiyev, Head of the Department of Cybersecurity, and Associate Professor Atif Namazov, Head of the Department of Engineering Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, participated in discussions on various fields at the "II Turkic World International Engineering Summit". AzTU employees made extensive presentations on relevant topics at the event. Discussions were held on various aspects of engineering at the event, and views were exchanged on modern problems of engineering, upcoming tasks, the Turkic World Engineering Union, and future prospects. In addition, Elvin Bakhtiyarli, who spoke about the role of public organizations and trade unions in engineering, spoke about the work carried out by the ATIAHI Republican Committee and, accordingly, the AzTU HIK at the event. Discussions were held in a number of areas of engineering during the four-day summit. At the end of the event, it was decided to hold the “III Turkic World International Engineering Summit” in Azerbaijan in 2026.

Ramazan Guliyev, a student of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), participated in the “General Assembly” event of the ESTIEM organization held in Cosenza, Italy. Important topics related to the general management structure of ESTIEM were discussed at the event, new local groups were announced to join the ESTIEM family, and changes in the leadership team were announced. Activity reports for the last 6 months, as well as a report on the “Council Meeting (CM)” event, were also presented to the participants. At the same time, the country where the CM event will be held for the next year was determined by voting. Within the framework of the event, there were ample opportunities to get acquainted with ESTIEM members from different countries, exchange experiences, and network. This ESTIEM event was an important experience for AzTU student Ramazan Guliyev in terms of being represented in the international student network, directly participating in the organizational decision-making process, and closely studying the mechanisms of ESTIEM’s activities.

Within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty”, a seminar was held for students of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) by lawyer Shukufa Muradsoy. First, the dear sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our lands was commemorated with a minute of silence. The National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played. Mehti Namazov, an employee of the AzTU Communication Department, who made a welcoming speech, said that by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated December 28, 2024, 2025 was declared the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” and various events are being held in the country in this regard. The seminar held today is a logical continuation of those events. Then, the head of the Department of Humanitarian Sciences Habib Mirzayev, who spoke, drew attention to the fact that the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” is a major socio-political event in the history of Azerbaijan. Habib Mirzayev emphasized that such events serve to raise the patriotic spirit of students. Lawyer Shukufa Muradsoy introduced the students to the main provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and provided information about constitutional rights. Shabnam Muradsoy spoke about family, health, education, marriage, labor, protection of honor and dignity and other rights. During the interactive seminar, students asked the lawyer questions that interested them.

The final stage of the “Bitget Hackathon – Startup” competition was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Teams consisting of students from AzTU, Baku Engineering University (BMU) and Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AzMIU) submitted about 30 startup projects on the topics of “Blockchain”, “Cryptocurrency”, “Artificial Intelligence” and “Data Analytics”. 19 of them were advanced to the final stage and were demonstrated in a large presentation format. The projects were evaluated by a professional jury (Osman Gunduz, Elnur Guliyev, Orkhan Ahmadov and Ayten Movsumova) based on 5 main criteria – team and presentation skills, idea, technical justification, practical application, and commercial potential. As a result of intense competition and high-level presentations, the winning teams were determined and a total of 3,000 USD in prizes (1st place $1,500, 2nd place $1,000, 3rd place $500) were presented to the winners. According to the results, AzTU won 1st place, BMU won 2nd place, and AzTU team won 3rd place. The organizers of the event, AzTU and the “Bitget” platform, demonstrated their support for the development of the startup ecosystem and digital technologies in Azerbaijan through this hackathon. Such initiatives allow young people to integrate their technological knowledge not only in theory, but also into real projects and business-oriented products. Such events create the necessary basis for young people to transform their theoretical knowledge into real technological projects, form a team spirit, and enter the global technology sector.

An info session on the “Brainzy” mobile application was held for students at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). During the presentation, detailed information was provided on the main capabilities, usage rules and development prospects of the “Brainzy” mobile application. It was noted that introducing the mobile application among students is an important step in terms of expanding the future user audience. Students raised questions that interested them about the mobile application.

Professor Vagif Hasanov, Head of the Department of Energy Efficiency and Green Energy Technologies of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), conducted a training for the employees of the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute (AzMI). The training, held on the topic of “Publishing Articles in the Scopus Database”, provided detailed information on the process of publishing scientific articles in international databases, especially in “Scopus” indexed journals, requirements and successful publication strategies. The participants were informed about the preparation of scientific research papers, the structure, writing, layout and presentation of the article, as well as the selection of a suitable journal. At the end of the training, certificates were presented to the participants.

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and Jafar Jabbarli's house-museum jointly organized an event titled "Museums are our history" dedicated to May 18 - International Museum Day. A traveling exhibition of the museum was also organized as part of the event. AzTU faculty and student staff, museum and library staff participated in the event. The traveling exhibition prepared by Jafar Jabbarli's house-museum, reflecting the rich literary heritage of the great playwright, used interesting materials and a rich photo archive reflecting different periods of the writer's life and creativity. Extensive information was presented about his works in various literary genres, as well as his activities in various fields of culture. Among the exhibition materials, Jafar Jabbarli's literary examples kept secret from the general readership for many years ("The Conquest of Edirne", "The Battle of Tripoli"), as well as his political activities (1923-1927), and a number of facts about his prison work were brought to attention. Speaking at the event, Gamar Seyfaddingizi, the director of Jafar Jabbarli's house-museum and the grandson of the great playwright, told the students about Jafar Jabbarli's great contributions to the development of Azerbaijani literature and culture, his active participation in the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918-1920), and his prison issue. Habib Mirzayev, the head of the AzTU Department of Humanitarian Sciences, spoke about the writer's work in various important fields of art, along with literary creativity, and about the writer's recognition as a talented translator and film figure. AzTU students Sarkhan Mikayilli, Durna Hasanli, and Janpolad Guliyev recited the playwright's poems "Ana", "Men bir susmaz goguyam ki" and "Azerbaijani flag". AzTU graduate, young singer Farhad Rahimli performed the songs "Gerak günsul dağları aşıb sonmayaydi" and "Hayat sən kiminsən" written to the words of the writer. A film about the life and work of the great artist was screened at the event.
