A delegation led by Muhammad Kaleem Asif, Rector of the Foundation University of Islamabad (FUI) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).The guests met with AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev and university representatives.Welcoming the guests, Rector Vilayat Valiyev spoke about the projects implemented at AzTU in recent years.The rector emphasized the importance of further expanding cooperation in the fields of education and research between Azerbaijani and Pakistani universities.FUI Rector Muhammad Kaleem Asif spoke about the work and innovations carried out at the higher education institution.The meeting also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.Later, a memorandum of understanding was signed between  two universities.

The traditional XII Spartakiade,was held at the Sports Palace of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) among AzTU employees and students, dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the birth of the Great leader Heydar Aliyev, has come to an end.At the closing ceremony organized by the AzTU Trade Union Committee (TUC), the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC), and the AzTU Sports Club, the dear memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.Then the National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played.AzTU employees participating in the Spartakiade competed in football, volleyball, table tennis, checkers and chess, while AzTU students competed in football, volleyball, table tennis, checkers, chess, basketball and wrestling.Congratulating the winners, AzTU Vice-Rector Rashad Aliyev said that about 250 employees and 400 students participated in the Spartakiade.The vice-rector emphasized that the development of sports and physical education is always at the forefront of AzTU.Later, Elshad Novruzov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Republican Committee of the Free Trade Union of Education Workers of Azerbaijan, and Elvin Bakhtiyarli, Chairman of the AzTU Trade Union Committee, conveyed their congratulations to the competition participants and expressed their gratitude for their active participation.The speeches particularly emphasized the attention and care shown by the National Leader to sports and health of young people and citizens.Information was also provided about AzTU cooperation with the Republican Committee of the Azerbaijan Education Workers' Free Trade Union and future opportunities to effectively organize employees' leisure time and protect their health.Then there was an award ceremony.In the chess competitions, the Faculty of Transport and Logistics was awarded first place among employees, and the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology was awarded first place among students.In the table tennis competitions, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics was awarded first place among employees, and the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications was awarded first place among students.In the checkers competition, the General Departments team won first place among employees, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics won first place among students.In the volleyball competitions, the General Departments team won first place among employees, and the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications won first place among students.In the futsal tournament, the General Departments team won first place among employees, and the Faculty of Metallurgy and Chemical Technology won first place among students.The Faculty of Energy won first place in the basketball competitions held among students.In freestyle wrestling competitions, AzTU students took first, second, and third places in different weight categories.The winners were awarded with diplomas, medals and gifts by the AzTU Rectorate, the Trade Union Committee and  the Student Trade Union Committee.

A working meeting dedicated to the development perspektives of the higher education system was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) with the participation of the university administrative leadership and teaching staff, as well as the leadership and employees of the Department of Science, Higher Education and  Vocational Training of the Ministry of Science and Education. The goal was to discuss existing problems in the higher education system, their possible solutions, and future development directions. Faculty deans, department heads, and heads of other structural units of AzTU actively participated in the event, and various questions and proposals were put forward regarding improving legislation, increasing the quality of specialist training, and increasing the efficiency of management in higher education. In his speech, AzTU Rector Professor Vilayat Valiyev noted that state strategy plays an important role in the development of universities and highly appreciated this initiative of the Ministry of Education. The rector emphasized that the joint policy pursued with higher education institutions is of great importance in the implementation of the state education strategy.Turkhan Suleyman, Head of the Science, Higher and Vocational Education Policy Department of the Ministry of Science and Education, noted the importance of universities support in the reforms carried out in the field of higher education. He stated that for this purpose, the proposals collected during meetings with higher education institutions will be systematized and formed into a separate portfolio, and will be reflected in strategic documents to solve real problems.He also emphasized that meetings in this format were held for the first time at AzTU and that they will be continued at other universities in the next stage. At the event, the ideas put forward by AzTU employees were also responded to by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, and it was stated that the aforementioned proposals would be taken into account in improving the legal and regulatory framework.The meeting participants emphasized that the creation of such open dialogue and cooperation platforms for the sustainable development and improvement of the higher education system will make a significant contribution to improving the quality of higher education.

Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) Vilayat Valiyev met with the teams that won first place in the "Robotex Azerbaijan - Eurasia Championship" competition. It was noted that, under the mentorship of Turkana Gahramanli, senior lecturer of the Department of Engineering Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, a team consisting of 1st-year students of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications Yusif Aliyev, Ilaha Ismayilzade, and phd candidate in systemic analysis, management and information processing Khumara Gahramanli won 1st place in the "SoftTech Entrepreneurship" category. Under the mentorship of Shamkhal Aliyev, a teacher at the Department of Electrical Engineering, the team, which included first-year students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics Anabaji Amiraslanova and Nasir Malikov, and third-year student of the SABAH groups Aliyoldash Amiraslanli, was awarded 1st place in the "Green Entrepreneurship University" category with the "CO2toD Project" project.The rector wished both teams great success in the Grand Final will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark in June.

Director of the Library Information Center (LIC) of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Khayala Hajiyeva, spoke at the forum "Modern Library 5.0: The New Mission of University Libraries" organized at the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University (ASAU). The forum, attended by library directors of leading universities in Azerbaijan, discussed the status, missions, problems, and solutions of libraries in our country.In her report, Khayala Hajiyeva spoke about the activities of AzTU KIM and said that this is a project with a fully international infrastructure implemented for the first time by local specialists in our country. The Director of the KIM also spoke about the opportunities created for users and the services provided in the modern infrastructure being built.In addition, Khayala Hajiyeva spoke about AzTU's activities in the "OpenAIRE" organization under the European Commission and DOAJ, noting that AzTU's services are oriented towards modern international trends and requirements, and that it educates its users in this direction.

Rashvin Shirelizade, a 3rd year student at the Faculty of Transport and Logistics of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the IDDO Mental Health Program for her effective activities at the autism festival held at the National Aviation Academy under the theme "I am here".AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev met with Rashvin Shirelizade and positively evaluated his effective work at the festival.The rector noted the important role of students' active participation in public and social events in shaping their worldview and establishing proper communication with people.Vilayat Valiyev also took an interest in Rashvin Shirelizade's lessons and gave relevant recommendations.

A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of ICT has been signed between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and Huawei Technologies Azerbaijan. The document was signed by AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev and Lin Yanxia, authorized representative of Huawei Technologies Azerbaijan.The memorandum envisages strengthening mutual cooperation in order to train qualified personnel in Azerbaijan who can meet the requirements of the digital future.According to the document, the parties will work together to implement sustainable and long-term educational programs in the field of ICT at AzTU, using the resource base of Huawei technologies.

The "Open Door" Day of the Chinese company "Huawei" was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).A delegation led by Angela Li, Vice President of the company, attended the "Open Door" day.At the event, AzTU students were presented with the company's educational and scholarship programs, job opportunities, and proper application procedures. Two teams from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) have achieved first place in the “Robotex Azerbaijan – Eurasian Championship.” The competition brought together 845 participants from 187 teams representing various educational institutions across Azerbaijan, competing in 21 different categories. One of the winning teams consisted of first-year students Anabaci Amiraslanova and Nasir Malikov from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, and third-year SABAH group student Aliyoldash Amiraslanli. Their project, titled “CO2toD Project,” focused on addressing a global environmental challenge and secured first place in the “Green Entrepreneurship University” category. The team was mentored by Shamkhal Aliyev, lecturer at the Department of Electrical Engineering. Another AzTU team, comprising first-year students Yusif Aliyev and Ilaha Ismayilzada from the Faculty of Information Technology and Telecommunications, along with doctoral student Khumara Gahramanli (specializing in Systems Analysis, Control, and Information Processing), won first place in the “SoftTech Entrepreneurship” category. The team was mentored by Associate Professor Turkana Gahramanli from the Department of Engineering Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence. Both winning teams have qualified to represent Azerbaijan in the Grand Final, which will be held in June in Copenhagen, Denmark.

An info session was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) within the framework of the "Startup School 3" project, organized by the "Enterprise Azerbaijan" portal, operated by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication. The event was attended by university students, young people interested in the technological field, and startup enthusiasts with innovative thinking.The purpose of the infosession is to inform participants about the project, explain the opportunities for participation in the program, and contribute to the development of their knowledge and skills in the field of innovation. Isa Gasimov, head of the "Enterprise Azerbaijan" portal, spoke at the info session and provided detailed information about the "Green and Digital Silk Road" international acceleration program.He said that this program serves to support startups operating in the field of green technologies and digital solutions, expand the innovation environment, strengthen regional cooperation, and increase investment opportunities.During the interactive info session, participants received detailed information about the program's stages, selection criteria, training and mentoring opportunities, as well as local and international partnership prospects.During the session, participants' questions were answered and important recommendations for the development of startups were given.It should be noted that the "Startup School 3" project is implemented in an integrated manner with local and international innovation initiatives and serves to form a technology-oriented startup ecosystem in Azerbaijan, develop the potential of young engineers and entrepreneurs, as well as expand their access to international markets.
