From October 15 to 18, the training on "New cyber defense methods supported by artificial intelligence for wireless communication", a joint project of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan with Istanbul Technical University, will be held in the capital. At the opening ceremony of the training program, the head of the Special Communications and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Lieutenant General Ilgar Musayev, welcomed the participants and said that in the program to be held in four days, it is planned to hold high-level trainings by scientists of a number of prestigious universities of Turkey to selected experts from state institutions and faculty members leaving higher education institutions. Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) Vilayat Valiyev said that information security is not only a technological issue, but also has serious economic consequences. According to him, information security is one of the important elements that ensure sustainable economic development. "The development of technologies requires the development of new methods of struggle. At such a moment, artificial intelligence-based technologies reveal serious issues related to the identification of threats and their future prediction. This requires the formation and determination of the specifics of the attacks, as well as the emergence of sufficiently new methods of combating them.In this direction, the role of universities and research centers is increasing enough, the need for their more serious cooperation with industry and enterprises emerges," the rector noted.  Head of TUBITAK BILGEM Center, Ali Gorchin, emphasized the importance of cooperation in new cyber defense methods supported by artificial intelligence for wireless communication, and noted its important role in the development of cyber products based on artificial intelligence in the future.  In the training program"Basics of cryptography and network security", "Cybersecurity Threats in Wireless Channels", Cyber-attacks at the physical level”, "New Cyber Defense Strategies in Wireless Infrastructures" and "Security of wireless networks, including 5G networks" will be covered. The training will provide an exchange of knowledge, experience and innovative solutions in the field of cyber defense with the support of artificial intelligence. It should be noted that the project was approved by NATO's Science for Peace and Security program.

Scientists of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) have been declared the winners of the "Main Grant Competition - 2024" dedicated to the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" of the Azerbaijan Science Foundation. The project of our scientists called "Technological guarantee of economic processing conditions on machines controlled by digital program" successfully passed the scientific examination and was among the winners. The head of the scientific research project is the head of the Mechanical Engineering Technology Department, honored engineer, doctor of technical sciences, professor Nizami Yusubov. The scientific project with a financial volume of 200,000 AZN is planned to be implemented within 2 years.

The Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Malik Garayev, and Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Technologies, Natiq Ahmadov, participated in the “Forum of Alumni of Soviet and Russian Higher Education Institutions” held in Astana, the Republic of Kazakhstan. The forum brought together representatives working in higher education and healthcare sectors, as well as state institutions across CIS countries. Leaders and members of alumni associations from various CIS states also attended the event. Malik Garayev delivered a presentation titled “Development Prospects and Key Directions of Cooperation in the Fields of Science and Education” during a roundtable discussion on “Scientific and Educational Cooperation, Conducting Joint Research, and Promoting Industry-Education Partnerships.” As part of the forum, AzTU representatives who participated in the training on “Management in Higher Education Systems” were awarded professional development certificates.

With the financial support of the Youth Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations Union (ASYOU), AzTU Student Youth Organization (SYO) as part of the "Make the Idea Real 2023" Youth Individual Projects Grant Competition "Traffic Safety - 2" project was implemented. More than 200 students participated in the two-day project. Students were given extensive information about traffic rules, traffic accidents that have occurred in recent years, and their main causes. The participants were trained by Allahverdi Sharifov, dean of the Faculty of Transport and Logistics of AzTU, and an educational video about road traffic safety was shown to the students. Participants who successfully completed the project were presented with a certificate.

As part of the Azerbaijan Agile Technical Assistance Framework (AZTAF), funded by the European Union and implemented by the World Bank, a seminar aimed at promoting gender balance in technical education and careers in Azerbaijan was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) The seminar sought to contribute to Azerbaijan’s economic development by increasing women’s participation in technical fields and reducing gender inequality in the labor market. The event was attended by university faculty members and career advisors. Key topics discussed during the seminar included the existing gender disparities in technical education and the labor market, recent legislative changes concerning women’s employment, key findings from the World Bank’s report on “Eliminating Barriers to Women’s Employment in Azerbaijan,” and the role of educational institutions in supporting women in technical fields. Additionally, an online training course titled “Occupational Safety, Health, Violence, and Harassment”—developed jointly by the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development—was presented in both Azerbaijani and English.

On October 7–9, the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Subkhan Namazov, and the Head of the Research and Development Department, Bakhtiyar Badalov, participated in the World Academic Summit jointly organized by Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world’s most prestigious ranking agencies, and the University of Manchester. The event, attended by over 500 representatives from various countries, focused on discussions of pressing topics in the fields of science and education.

The Library and Information Center (TIC) of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) took part in the 10th Baku International Book Fair, held at the Baku Expo Center and dedicated to the 530th anniversary of the birth of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker, Muhammad Fuzuli (1494–1556). At the exhibition, AzTU showcased its publications and educational materials authored by its faculty members. At the conclusion of the event, AzTU was awarded a certificate by the organizers for its active participation.

The 7th International Sports Games among students of universities from Caspian littoral countries are currently being held in Astrakhan, Russian Federation. Azerbaijan is represented at the games by athletes from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), led by the Director of AzTU’s Sports Center, Elnur Jamalkhanov. As part of the visit, the delegation paid tribute to the memory of the national leader Heydar Aliyev by visiting the park in Astrakhan named after him and honoring his monument.

The "Innovative solutions" project competition jointly organized by the Human Resources Department of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), the Trade Union Committee and the Student Trade Union Committee on the occasion of the International Teachers' Day has been concluded. AzTU professors and students participated in the project competition in the form of 10 teams. The participants of the competition presented in front of the jury, offering innovative solutions to the difficulties that arose in various situations in the educational process. The jury evaluated the project ideas submitted to the competition according to 5 criteria (innovative and creative approach, relevance to the topic, application in practice, usefulness, teamwork and presentation). According to the results of the competition, the project "A new approach to the organization of the teaching process at AzTU" jointly presented by Aynura Ismayilova and Kamala Samadova was awarded the first place, and the project "AzTU - 3S" by Mahish Maharramzade, Baloglan Najafov and Nurana Jamalzade was awarded the second place. The winners of the "Innovative solutions" project competition were presented with money award by AzTU.
