The Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has once again made a breakthrough. With the initiative of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, the company "Nokia" has opened a laboratory in AzTU. The new xPON laboratory, which started its activities at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies of AzTU, is fully equipped by "Nokia." It is worth noting that the xPON technology allows for transmission for 5G stations at lower financial costs.The opening ceremony was attended by AzTU, the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, the Information and Communication Technologies Agency, the regional and Azerbaijani leadership of "Nokia," numerous company executives, and other guests. They closely acquainted themselves with the conditions created in the laboratory.Providing information about the laboratory, the head of AzTU's Radio Engineering and Telecommunication Department, Mehman Huseynov, stated that 5G is not only related to mobile technologies but is also extensively used for managing modern smart homes, healthcare, transportation, military, and industrial devices. The purpose of opening the laboratory is to prepare local professionals to meet the demands of the labor market. Research in the relevant direction will also be conducted in the laboratory.

Anar Aliyev, the general director of the famous German SAP company specializing in the field of information systems, for Azerbaijan, held a seminar at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Nuran Süleymanova, the teacher of the department of international trade, logistics and marketing, coordinator of SAP of AzTU, also participated in the seminar. In the seminar organized for the students of the Faculty of Economics and Management, the current requirements for training as a SAP specialist, the opportunities for experience in local and global SAP markets were discussed. Also, Yuri Kuprianov, the global manager of SAP University Alliances, attended the meeting in online format and answered the students' questions. It should be noted that AzTU is a member of the Global SAP Alliance of Universities since 2024 and carries out regular events together with the company.

A reporting conference was held within the framework of the "Establishment of Rectors' Conference in Azerbaijan" (ECAR) project. The conference was attended by over 100 representatives from 28 local higher education institutions, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, the State Employment Agency, the National Observatory on Labor Market and Social Protection Issues, as well as foreign partners of the project, including Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, and the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) in Belgium.In the event AzTU was represented by Fariz Mammadov, Vice-Rector for International Relations of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) , employees of the International Relations Office Metanet Pashayeva, Nubar Farhadzadeh, and Ulviyya Rasulova, Head Specialist of the Career and Employment Center.The main purpose of the conference was to listen to the reports of the committees operating within the framework of the project and to conduct relevant discussions.

Agrarian Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and "Information Valley Baku" located at AzTU, organized by a number of incubation and acceleration centers, have started the meetings related to the "GreenAgroHack" hackathon competition. The first information session of this kind was held at AzTU. Rector of AzTU Vilayat Valiyev, director of Agrarian Innovation Center Anar Jafarov, director of "Information Valley Baku" Gamat Karimov, head of "FemTech" Acceleration Center Nargiz Amrahova spoke about the importance of the hackathon and invited students to participate in the competition. It was reported that "GreenAgroHack" is a competition of finding and preparing certain technological solutions in accordance with the technical task given within the framework of the "17th Azerbaijan International Agricultural Exhibition" which will be held on May 15-17, 2023 within the period of 29 hours 29 minutes 29 seconds. The goal of the hackathon is to develop special software, intelligent solutions in the field of agriculture with the participation of students of the country's leading higher education institutions within the framework of the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World", and to promote the role and importance of innovation in the agricultural field among young people. It should be noted that to participate in the hackathon, it is possible to apply as a team or individually, consisting of students of at least two different universities, formed of a maximum of 5 people (at least 1 woman and 1 person from the graduate students of previous years as a mentor). Individual applicants will be grouped into 5-person teams by the organizing committee after the applications are over. After the information session, the laboratory and workshop of the university were inspected.

The fourth wave of the Azerbaijan Cyber Security Center, which was jointly established by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development with Israel's Technion Institute of Technology, has been launched. In this regard, an info session was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) with the participation of students. First, AzTU vice-rector Rashad Aliyev gave detailed information about the center's new wave of training. He said that any citizen of Azerbaijan over 17 years who has English language skills and basic ICT skills can apply to take advantage of the training. Later, the employees of the Azerbaijan Cyber Security Center brought to the attention of the students the necessary information about the nature of the training and the selection procedure. In the end, the students' questions were answered.

The next meeting of AzTU Scientific Council was held. At the meeting, relevant tasks were given regarding the issue arising from the Decision of Prime Minister Ali Asadov "On the reorganization and approval of the Charter of Azerbaijan Technical University". At the same time, it was decided to increase the quality of education, form scientific research works based on international standards, as well as increase technological transfer activities and university entrepreneurship. Accordingly, the new structure of AzTU was approved. The action plan for the entry of the "Machine Science" magazine into the international scientific bases was also approved. At the meeting, in accordance with the views expressed by President Ilham Aliyev at the meeting with the members of the West Azerbaijan Community on December 24, 2022, especially in accordance with the tasks given by him in the direction of preparing the Concept of Return to West Azerbaijan, a decision was made to establish the "Technological Heritage of West Azerbaijan" Center at AzTU. The center will operate on a public basis.

"Mechanical engineering and energy: new concepts and technologies" organized by Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) (Azerbaijan), Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus-Zenfenberg (Germany) and Gazi University (Turkey) on December 4-5, 2023. The materials of the 2nd international conference were published in the journals included in the international bases according to the agreement with the Swiss "Trans Tech Publication" publishing house. After "Trans Tech Publication" publishing house reviewed the articles a total of 50 scientific articles, including 35 articles in "Advances in Science and Technology" magazine, 9 articles in "Key Engineering Materials" magazine, and 6 articles in "Materials Science Forum" magazine were included in the Scopus summarizing and indexing database were published. In addition, 23 articles of the conference were published in the "Engineering Headway" collection, which is included in "Google Scholar", "ProQuest", "Ulrichsweb", "EBSCOhost Research Databases", "WorldCat (OCLC)" and other summarizing and indexing databases. In the near future, all materials will be reflected in relevant international scientific summarizing and indexing databases. It should be noted that AzTU is included in "QS World University Ranking", "Times Higher Education" and others. plans to continue organizing such conferences in order to increase its rating on international bases.

Prime Minister Ali Asadov has signed a Decision on "The reorganization of Azerbaijan Technical University and approval of its Statute." According to the Decision, Azerbaijan Technical University is reorganized by being converted into a legal entity under public law under the authority of the Ministry of Science and Education Republic of Azerbaijan, and the "Statute of Azerbaijan Technical University" is approved. The Ministry of Science and Education will take necessary  measures for state registration of Azerbaijan Technical University in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On State Registration and State Registers of Legal Technical Persons" within three days from the date of entry into force of this Decision.

A meeting was held with the students studying food engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU)  and the representatives of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute (AFSI). The presentations were given on the topics of "Harms of sugar", "Sugar substitutes" and "Importance of fruit and vegetables on the daily diet" at the meeting  within the campaign of the "Reduce sugar, extend your lifespan!"  It was noted that the campaign is being implemented in order to promote a healthy lifestyle among the population and to encourage citizens to eat healthy, including the consumption of sugar in accordance with the norm.  It was specially emphasized that, the  excessive use of sugar in the human body may cause some problems like cardiovascular diseases, II type diabetes, obesity, tooth decay, attention deficit and allergic reactions in children, a reduce in cognitive ability in adolescents, weakening of the immune system, and an increase in the probability of some types of cancer.  At the end of the meeting, the students' questions were answered.

The 6th international conference on "Inventive Computing and Information Technologies" was held in Bangkok, Thailand, organized by Stamford International University.  Scientists and researchers from different countries of the world took part in the conference organized in an online format.  The Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) was represented at the conference by the head of the radio engineering and telecommunications department, professor Mehman Hasanov, the doctoral students of the department, Nadir Atayev, Emin Payizov, Turana Rasullu, as well as Sahib Piriyev, associate professor of the engineering mathematics and artificial intelligence department.  AzTU representatives spoke on "Adaptive monitoring of optical networks in free space using artificial neural analysis" at the conference. At the end of the conference, the participants were presented with a certificate.  It should be noted that the articles selected at the conference will be published in journals indexed in "Web of Science" and "Scopus" databases.
