The 15th International Science and Technology Conference (ISTEC) has commenced at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The international conference, organized in partnership with Sakarya University, Kocaeli University of Health and Technology, and Chankaya University, brings together scientists from the global academic community. In his opening speech, Professor Vilayat Valiyev, Rector of AzTU, expressed his pleasure in hosting the conference. He emphasized that such conferences and collaborations make significant contributions to the development of scientific and technological fields and will pave the way for more international cooperation in the future. The conference agenda covers research and innovative solutions in fields such as engineering, information technologies, energy systems, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, presentations on sustainable energy, smart cities, and digital transformation were held. The conference also provided young researchers and students with an opportunity to present their projects and establish connections with international scholars. The two-day International Science and Technology Conference has received submissions from speakers in 22 countries, with 75 papers being approved. Distinguished invited speakers at the conference included Professor Muzafer Elmas, Rector of Kocaeli University of Health and Technology, who presented on “New Developments in Quality in Higher Education”; Professor Teresa Franklin from Ohio University, who discussed “Changing Paradigms in Higher Education, K12, and Artificial Intelligence”; Professor John Hitchcock, who spoke on “The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Research”; and Professor Badrul H. Khan, who addressed “Smart Learning in the Digital World.”

“It is an honor to present my project before the vast audience at the 75th International Astronautical Congress held in Milan, Italy.” These were the words of Safarali Safarli, a member of Azerbaijan’s national scientific team representing the country at the congress, in an interview with AZERTAC. “Yesterday, I presented my project at the congress’s scientific session. The Artificial Intelligence Navigation and Observation System (A.I.N.O.S) project is an artificial intelligence based on physical formulas. This AI system is capable of determining, tracking, and displaying on-screen information about celestial bodies, stars, and satellites from the Earth’s surface. I am pleased that my presentation was well received by the audience. I feel fortunate to participate in such a major space science platform,” said Safarali Safarli, a SABAH group undergraduate student. It is worth noting that Azerbaijan’s national scientific team at the Milan Congress consists of nearly 50 students, young specialists, and scientists.

During the International Science and Technology Conference held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), a meeting took place between AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev and the Rector of Kocaeli University of Health and Technology in Turkey, Muzaffar Elmas.  In the meeting, the two higher education institutions discussed and agreed on collaborative efforts in the fields of education and research. As a result, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between AzTU and Kocaeli University, formalizing their partnership.

A traditional tournament dedicated to Victory Day has been launched at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The "Victory Tournament" jointly organized by the AzTU Sports Club and the Trade Union Committee is held every year in order to effectively organize the leisure time of university employees and protect their health.As part of the tournament, AzTU employees will try themselves as teams in 5 sports (chess, checkers, table tennis, volleyball and football). On the opening day of the tournament, a total of 10 teams representing different faculties and structural units of AzTU competed in the sport of chess. According to the results of the competition, the team of the Faculty of Information and Telecommunication Technologies won the 1st place with 24 points, the team of the Finance and Security Department won the 2nd place with 19.5 points, and the team of the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology won the 3rd place with 17 points.  The winner of the individual chess competitions was Nurlan Huseynov, an academic advisor of the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology. It should be noted that various competitions in the "Victory Tournament" will last for 2 weeks. The winners will be awarded with a trophy, medal and valuable gifts from the Trade Union Committee.

With the support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and under the “World Friends Korea (WFK) Advisors Program” implemented by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy of the Republic of Korea, Korean expert Woojik Chun has commenced his role as a guest lecturer at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). As part of his activities, Woojik Chun conducted a seminar for AzTU’s faculty members and students on the topic “Modern Challenges of the Internet and Its Evolution Process.” The seminar covered current technologies supporting the internet and their inherent limitations. Additionally, the session actively explored potential solutions and development trends shaping the future of the internet. The seminar concluded with a lively discussion on the topic, allowing participants to engage further and exchange insights.

As part of the 75th International Astronautical Congress held in Milan, Italy, Azerbaijani Technical University (AzTU) student Safarali Safarli, a member of Azerbaijan’s national scientific team, delivered a presentation based on his scientific paper. During the congress’s panel session, the SABAH groups undergraduate student presented his project titled “Artificial Intelligence Navigation and Observation System (A.I.N.O.S).” Safarali provided detailed insights into the artificial intelligence system, which is based on physical formulas. He explained that the system is capable of determining and tracking the coordinates of celestial objects, stars, and satellites from the Earth’s surface, as well as displaying detailed information about them on a screen. His presentation garnered significant interest from the audience. It is worth noting that 345 scientific papers were submitted to the Milan Congress from Azerbaijan, 90% of which were prepared by young researchers.

The Republican AIDS Control Center of the Ministry of Health held an info session at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as part of measures to combat the disease (HIV infection) caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). At the event, information was provided about HIV and AIDS, which are a serious threat to health. In the end, the students' questions were answered.

A “Erasmus Alumni” event was organized at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) by the International Relations Department. During the event, AzTU students who had studied abroad through the “Erasmus+” exchange program shared their experiences through presentations. These students had participated in exchange programs at Sapienza University of Rome in Italy, Povislanski University in Poland, Bucharest University of Economic Studies and Technical University of Cluj-Napoca in Romania, as well as Bursa Technical University and Izmir Bakirçay University in Turkey. They provided attendees with detailed insights into their educational journeys abroad. The presentations highlighted various topics, including the academic environment at these universities, opportunities for personal and academic development, skills gained through the “Erasmus” program, and cultural differences observed in the host countries. At the end of the event, participants’ questions were addressed.

The International Astronautical Congress serves as a high-level platform for young professionals to gain experience in the field of space science. These remarks were made by Telman Mammadov, a member of the national scientific team representing Azerbaijan at the 75th International Astronautical Congress in Milan, during an interview with AZERTAC. Telman, a bachelor’s student from the “SABAH” groups at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), presented a scientific paper at the Milan Congress on managing carbon in a microgravity environment using bioengineered plants. “My research paper was accepted for presentation at the 75th International Astronautical Congress. I am thrilled to represent my country on such a significant space science platform. I would like to express my gratitude to Azercosmos and other state organizations for supporting my participation,” Telman stated.

From October 15 to 18, the training on "New cyber defense methods supported by artificial intelligence for wireless communication", a joint project of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan with Istanbul Technical University, will be held in the capital. At the opening ceremony of the training program, the head of the Special Communications and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Lieutenant General Ilgar Musayev, welcomed the participants and said that in the program to be held in four days, it is planned to hold high-level trainings by scientists of a number of prestigious universities of Turkey to selected experts from state institutions and faculty members leaving higher education institutions. Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) Vilayat Valiyev said that information security is not only a technological issue, but also has serious economic consequences. According to him, information security is one of the important elements that ensure sustainable economic development. "The development of technologies requires the development of new methods of struggle. At such a moment, artificial intelligence-based technologies reveal serious issues related to the identification of threats and their future prediction. This requires the formation and determination of the specifics of the attacks, as well as the emergence of sufficiently new methods of combating them.In this direction, the role of universities and research centers is increasing enough, the need for their more serious cooperation with industry and enterprises emerges," the rector noted.  Head of TUBITAK BILGEM Center, Ali Gorchin, emphasized the importance of cooperation in new cyber defense methods supported by artificial intelligence for wireless communication, and noted its important role in the development of cyber products based on artificial intelligence in the future.  In the training program"Basics of cryptography and network security", "Cybersecurity Threats in Wireless Channels", Cyber-attacks at the physical level”, "New Cyber Defense Strategies in Wireless Infrastructures" and "Security of wireless networks, including 5G networks" will be covered. The training will provide an exchange of knowledge, experience and innovative solutions in the field of cyber defense with the support of artificial intelligence. It should be noted that the project was approved by NATO's Science for Peace and Security program.
