AzTU professor visited Sakarya University of Applied Sciences

Sübhan Namazov, Vice Rector for Science and Innovation at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and Professor at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Technology, participated in a one-week mobility program for administrative staff under the Erasmus+ exchange program at Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBU) in Turkey. During his visit, Sübhan Namazov met with Mehmet Sarıbıyık, the Rector of SUBU, and familiarized himself with the work being done at the university. Discussions were held between the two universities regarding collaboration and the potential implementation of joint scientific and research projects. A cooperation agreement between AzTU and SUBÜ was signed by Rector Mehmet Saribiyik, with the participation of SUBU’s Vice Rectors Sinan Serdar Ozkan, Ali Fuat Boz, and Oguz Turkay, as well as Gokhan Atali, Director of the Robotics Technologies and Smart Systems Application and Research Center (ROTASAM). The agreement was later signed by AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev at AzTU.

AzTU started implementing the intra-city mobility plan in 16 more cities and regions

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has begun implementing urban mobility plans in 16 more cities and districts as part of the "Development of an Urban Mobility Plan." On July 15-16, AzTU signed agreements with the executive authorities of the Balakan, Zaqatala, Oghuz, Gabala, and Gakh regions. During meetings attended by AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev, the Heads of Executive Authorities of Balakan (Islam Rzayev), Zaqatala (Mubariz Ahmadzada), Oghuz (Eyvaz Gurbanov), Gabala (Sabuhi Abdullayev), and Gakh (Musa Shakiliyev), the importance of the mobility plan was discussed. The project is expected to play a significant role in the sustainable development of these regions, as well as in the planned design and implementation of road networks. The mobility plan focuses on creating accessible, affordable, and sustainable transport systems, with special attention to the needs of vulnerable groups, including women, children, people with disabilities, and the elderly. It aims to improve road safety through the expansion of public transport. The project is also seen as a prime example of the state-university-industry partnership. The "Urban Mobility Plan Development" consultancy service will be the first project executed between AzTU and the aforementioned regional executive authorities. In addition to the representatives from the regional authorities, the meetings were attended by Aynura Ismayılova, Director of the Lifelong Learning School, Fuad Dashdemirov, Director of the Institute of Logistics and Transportation, Osman Gunduz, Coordinator of AzTU’s Digital Transformation Advisory Board and Chairman of the University’s Public Council, and Sevinj Isgandarova, Head of the Public Relations Department.

The next master class of AzTU employee was organized

A third masterclass titled "Growing Contribution of Azerbaijan to Earth's Green Future" was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) by Igor Nasirov, a staff member of the Institute for Sustainable Development. The masterclass was conducted online and focused on the topic "All Colors of Hydrogen." The main objective of the event was to raise awareness of ongoing processes in the field among scientists, faculty members, and students. The invited guest of the event, Andrey Tsarikovskiy from thyssenkrupp Uhde, delivered a presentation on global trends and experiences in hydrogen technology. Following the presentation, participants engaged in an extensive discussion on projects that will be implemented in Azerbaijan at COP29, as well as the skills and contributions that will be developed towards creating a green future.

For the first time in Azerbaijan, a working model of a nanosatellite was developed at AzTU

A presentation of the "CUBESAT" nano-satellite prototype, developed at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), was held with the participation of representatives from Azərkosmos, the Ministry of Defense Industry, the National Aerospace Agency, and the National Defense University. Professor Mehman Hasanov, head of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications at AzTU and the project leader, gave an extensive presentation on the development of the project. He stated that this project is a first for Azerbaijan and is a functional model of a nano-satellite. He emphasized that the project will play a significant role in the creation of satellites operating in low Earth orbit. The development of the nano-satellite involved the use of AzTU's patented first 3D optical switch. Following the presentation, Nadir Atayev, a doctoral student at AzTU and one of the main executors of the project, provided detailed information about the prototype and its technical specifications.

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has achieved another significant success. The "Enhancing monitoring and management capacities of Higher Education Institutions on optical networks and optical communication in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan" project, coordinated by AzTU and titled "OPTIFY", has been selected as a winner by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ program (ERASMUS-EDU-2024-CBHE-STRAND-2). As part of the project, a new master's degree program will be launched in Azerbaijan focusing on the monitoring and management of expanding optical networks. The program will aim to train specialists with modern competencies and skills in this field, and academic staff will receive training on the latest content and teaching methods at leading European higher education institutions. Additionally, a new teaching laboratory will be established at the partner universities involved in the project, and relevant educational modules for the industry will be developed. The project partners in Azerbaijan include the Ministry of Science and Education, Baku Engineering University, the National Aviation Academy, and Azerbaijan University of Technology. The consortium also includes four partner universities from European Commission program countries, three from Kazakhstan, and three from Georgia.

Training was held in Portugal as part of the ENGAGE project

As part of the "Strengthening the Sustainable Entrepreneurship Ecosystem in Azerbaijani Higher Education Institutions" (ENGAGE) project, funded by the European Commission and coordinated by Mingachevir State University, another training session was held in Portugal. The training was hosted by the University of Lisbon, a European partner of the project. Professor Nuraly Yusifbayli, the Vice Rector for Educational Affairs at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), represented the university during the visit. On the first day of the training program, Professor Zita Martins, Vice President for International Relations at the University of Lisbon, welcomed the delegation from nine Azerbaijani higher education institutions that are members of the project and discussed the importance of international collaboration in entrepreneurship education. Professor Joana Mendonça, Vice President of the Oeiras Municipality, highlighted the role of the university campus in supporting entrepreneurial initiatives and its contributions to both local and international innovation ecosystems. Next, the coordinator of the ENGAGE project presented a brief report on the project, outlining its objectives and planned activities for the participants. The delegation was introduced to the "Técnico Lisboa Doctoral School" and its approach to developing research and innovation. During the training, an open discussion on entrepreneurship education was held, allowing for an exchange of experiences. The "E.Awards" program, in which students presented their entrepreneurial projects, was also introduced. At the end of the training program, the delegation visited the Technology Laboratory and received detailed information about the Innovation Center and student laboratories.

Azərbaycan Texniki Universitetinin (AzTU) Nəqliyyat logistikası və hərəkətin təhlükəsizliyi kafedrasının dosenti Eldar Əfəndiyev vəfat edib. Eldar Əfəndiyev 1969-cu ildən AzTU-nun Avtomobillər kafedrasında əmək fəaliyyətinə başlayıb, daha sonra fəaliyyətini Nəqliyyat logistikası və hərəkətin təhlükəsizliyi  kafedrasında müxtəlif vəzifələrdə davam etdirib.    60-a yaxın elmi, elmi-metodiki məqalənin müəllifi idi. As part of the "Erasmus+ KA2" program, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner in the "Strategic Quality Management in Healthcare, Risk Management in Open and Distance Education Formats for Professional Bachelor's and Master's Preparation in the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan" (LMQS) project. Recently, training sessions were held in Athens, Greece, at the coordinating institution, the University of West Attica. AzTU was represented by Orkhan Vatankhah, Head of the International Relations Department, and Murshud Mehdiyev, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Management, during the visit. In line with the new Master's program in "Quality and Risk Management in Healthcare," the training covered topics such as healthcare management, research methods, healthcare economics, healthcare financing, quality management in healthcare, healthcare policy, and social insurance.
