The "AzTU6" team from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has secured a spot in the semifinals of the 49th ICPC - International Collegiate Programming Contest. The team will compete in the semifinals of the 49th ICPC, which will be held in Georgia from December 13-15, 2024. They will also participate in the South Caucasus Open Championship, both in team and individual categories. It is worth mentioning that a total of 174 teams from 23 higher education institutions participated in the competition. In the round of 16, AzTU's "AzTU6" and "AzTU2" teams advanced to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals, featuring 51 teams from 22 higher education institutions, each consisting of three students and one leader, saw the "AzTU6" team officially secure a spot in the semifinals. AzTU was represented by 15 teams in the competition, under the leadership of Vugar Huseynli, a staff member of the SmartTech Innovators Center and Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, Kenan Asgarli, also a staff member of the SmartTech Innovators Center, and Aytan Sadıgova, Dean of the AzTU SABAH Groups.

Known for its affordable offers in the mobile communication market and its emphasis on education, Nar continues its projects supporting the development of digital knowledge in Azerbaijan. As part of its corporate social responsibility strategy, Nar regularly conducts “Fundamentals of Mobile Communication” training sessions for students specializing in telecommunications. The training, prepared and delivered by Nar's technical team, aims to develop local professionals in the mobile communication field and support students in building successful careers after graduation. The latest training session, held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), covered topics such as the evolution of mobile technology, the structure of mobile communication networks, the Internet of Things (IoT), fifth-generation (5G) technology,  structure of mobile communication, wireless transmission networks and frequencies in mobile communication.

A delegation from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), led by the Rector Vilayat Valiyev, has undertaken a business visit to some of Uzbekistan’s leading universities. The delegation included Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations Subhan Namazov, Vice-Rector for International Relations Fariz Mammadov, and Head of the Research and Development Department Bakhtiyar Badalov. The primary aim of the visit was to strengthen AzTU’s collaboration with high-ranking Uzbek universities, particularly those recognized in international rankings, such as the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking, as well as other global and regional university rankings. The visit also sought to establish joint platforms for research and educational projects. During the visit, Rector Vilayat Valiyev met with the leadership of Tashkent State Technical University, Tashkent National University, Tashkent Turin Polytechnic University, the National Research Institute, Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, Tashkent State Transport University, Tashkent Inha University, the Institute of Chemical Technology, and New Era University. In the meetings, Rector Valiyev presented a comprehensive overview of AzTU and expressed the university’s keen interest in collaborating on bilateral research projects, mutual faculty and student exchanges, the implementation of international and regional projects, joint scientific publications, dual diplomas, and shared academic supervision. The parties agreed to draft a roadmap for future initiatives tailored to each university's unique strengths and characteristics. The Uzbek university representatives also expressed their interest in collaboration with AzTU. As part of the visit, Memoranda of Understanding were signed between AzTU and Tashkent State Technical University, Tashkent National University, and Tashkent Turin Polytechnic University. Both sides underscored their commitment to establishing and fostering bilateral and multilateral partnerships.

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), in collaboration with the Main Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, organized an educational event for AzTU students titled "The Consequences of Using Narcotic Substances and Psychotropic Drugs, as well as the Legal Requirements Regarding Their Illegal Circulation." In his speech, the head of AzTU's Communication Department, Safa Baghirov, emphasized the dangers of drug use to human life. He advised students to stay away from harmful habits and focus on learning, engaging in sports, and pursuing other productive activities. Natig Isbatov, a representative of the Main Drug Control Department, provided a detailed explanation of the consequences of using narcotic substances and psychotropic drugs. He highlighted the importance of regular awareness campaigns among young people and noted that AzTU is one of the higher education institutions actively educating students about combating drug addiction. The event concluded with the screening of a video prepared by the students on the topic of "Combating Drug Addiction."

A national scientific-technical conference on the topic “Water Resources in Azerbaijan: Challenges and New Directions” was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The conference brought together researchers, academics, and professors specializing in water resources, alongside representatives from government agencies and various companies. AzTU’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Nureli Yusifbeyli, emphasized the significance of organizing such conferences within the framework of the upcoming COP29 events in Baku. He highlighted the importance of protecting water resources and the environment. Following this, Firudin Taghiyev, Head of the Land Use Control Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, greeted the participants and extended his best wishes to the presenters. Subsequent speakers addressed key issues regarding water management in Azerbaijan, including completed projects, existing challenges, and potential solutions. The presenters called on the participants to adopt careful and efficient practices for managing Azerbaijan’s water resources. They stressed the need to increase the number of initiatives aimed at water conservation, procure advanced equipment, integrate such technologies into professional settings, purify wastewater from fresh water sources, and implement smarter technologies to minimize water losses during irrigation. The scientific-technical conference continued with plenary sessions.

The International Green STEAM Azerbaijan Festival was held with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education and the COP29 Presidency, organized by the “STEAM Azerbaijan” project. In the international competition, Aliyoldash Emiraslanli, a student from the SABAH groups of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), and Anabachi Emiraslanova, a student from the Faculty of Engineering at a German university, represented Azerbaijan with their invention, the “CO2toD” device, in the “Green Initiatives” category. According to the decision of the jury, the project by the AzTU students was awarded first place. The students were mentored by Professor Mehriban Hasanova, from the Department of Engineering Physics and Electronics at AzTU. It is noteworthy that over 900 participants, representing 244 teams, took part in the final stage of this year’s festival. Among them, 146 participants represented 15 countries, including the United Kingdom, Turkey, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the United States. A total of 17 judges from 10 different countries, including Denmark, Slovakia, Canada, and Turkey, participated in the evaluation and content preparation process.

Representatives of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center (AKM) held an info-session at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). During the session, it was announced that registration for the new fifth wave of AKM training, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport (RINN), the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IRIA), and Israel’s “Technion” Institute of Technology, was now open. Leyla Karimli, the community manager of AKM, provided detailed information on global and national cyber threats and their potential damages. She emphasized that the goal of AKM training programs is to develop the highest level of knowledge and skills for cybersecurity professionals in the country. Karimli invited AzTU students to join the fifth wave of the training programs. Nemat Rahimli, an employee of AKM, explained that the training programs are based on the curriculum of the “Technion” Institute of Technology in Israel. He stated that foreign trainers assess the IT knowledge and interview skills of participants. Those who succeed in both stages are offered six-month training in “Blue team” (defense) and “Red team” (attack) areas. Successful graduates receive an official certificate from the “Technion” Institute. It was also noted that AKM has already graduated nearly 180 students, many of whom now work in both government agencies and the private sector. Registration for the training programs closes on November 8. The session concluded with answers to questions from the students.

Azərbaycan Texniki Universitetinin (AzTU) təşkilatçılığı, “Clarivate” şirkətinin təmsilçisi Anna Trifonovanın təşəbbüsü, Katarina Krsmanovicin təlimçiliyi ilə “ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global” bazasının kitabxana əməkdaşları üçün onlayn treninqi həyata keçirilib. Təlimdə müxtəlif ali təhsil müəssisəsindən 50-yə yaxın kitabxana nümayəndəsi iştirak edərək bazadakı tezis və dissertasiyalara çıxış imkanları ilə tanış olublar. Treninqdə “ProQuest” bazasının informasiya istifadəçilərinə təqdim etdiyi geniş resurslar və dünya elminə inteqrasiya imkanları barədə ətraflı məlumat verilib.   Təlimdə iştirakçılar oxuculara keyfiyyətli xidməti artırmaq məqsədilə bazadan istifadəlilik, elmi məlumatların əldə edilməsi və tədqiqat prosesində məhsuldarlığı artırmaq üçün faydalı alətlər haqqında dəyərli biliklər qazanıblar. Qeyd edək ki, PQDT bazası dissertasiya və tezisləri özündə cəmləşdirərək istifadəçilərə bilik sərhədlərini genişləndirmək üçün mükəmməl imkanlar təqdim edir.  Treninqdən sonra 60 ölkədən 4100 universitetin 5 milyondan çox dissertasiya və tezisinin tam mətnini əhatə edən baza ölkəmizdə 20-dən çox ali təhsil müəssisəsinin kitabxanaları üçün 1 aylıq sınaq müddətinə istifadəsinə açılıb. 

Monika Stanisz, an employee of the International Relations Department of Jędrzejów University of Technology in Poland, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as part of the “Erasmus+” exchange program. During her visit, Monika Stanisz conducted a week-long training at AzTU’s International Relations Department, where she familiarized herself with the department’s activities, international collaborations, and ongoing projects. Additionally, discussions were held regarding the expansion of the existing cooperation between the two universities. Monika Stanisz and AzTU’s International Relations Department staff exchanged ideas on the implementation of joint projects, the organization of new exchange programs, and academic exchange opportunities.
