The State Service for Special Communications and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCSIS) organized another competition in the field of cybersecurity for the spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year to assess the knowledge of undergraduate and graduate students studying at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) in the field of cybersecurity. According to the results of the competition, Tural Salimov and Orkhan Eminbeyli, 3rd-year undergraduate students of the Information Security specialty of the Faculty of Information and Telecommunications Technologies of the University, as well as Rena Sadiqova and Aytaj Agayeva, 2nd-year master's students of the State Information Systems Security specialization of the Higher Education Institute under the University, were declared winners with special distinction. The award ceremony was attended by Major General Allahveran Ismayilov, Deputy Head of the SCSIS, AzTU Rector Professor Vilayat Valiyev, and other representatives. During the event, the importance of cooperation between state bodies and educational institutions was emphasized in the speeches, and it was stated that training young specialists in the field of cybersecurity is one of the strategic priorities. It was noted that the measures implemented within the framework of the Memorandum signed between the State Institute of Information Security and AzTU are of great importance in transforming students' theoretical knowledge into practical skills and strengthening the human resources potential of the cybersecurity field in the country. Within the framework of the Memorandum, the State Institute of Information Security created conditions for students studying at the bachelor's level of AzTU in information security to participate in events within the framework of the practical training program. Then, the representatives of the State Institute of Information Security got acquainted with the laboratories supported by the Service in conjunction with the University in order to strengthen its modern educational infrastructure, material and technical base, as well as the existing modern classrooms for communications and telecommunications, advanced technologies applied in innovative training methods, and experience gained in the field.

Students of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (ASUCA) have successfully completed their internship at the Library Information Center (LIC) of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev met with the interns and presented them with a letter of appreciation for their active participation in the reconstruction of the Library Information Center and the opening ceremony. The Rector was informed that during the internship, the students acquired modern knowledge in their specialties, gained practical knowledge and skills in academic databases, bibliometrics, cataloging, international bookkeeping rules, etc. The students also participated in the ongoing reconstruction work at the LIC, listened to a report on bibliographic and bibliometric databases, participated in international webinars on the “Web of Science” platform, academic databases such as "IEEE", "DOAJ", "EBSCO" and received certificates. In addition, the interns participated in the installation of library technology, were trained in the software of the new technology, and learned the working principles of the equipment.

An informational training on types of leave was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The training, organized by the Human Resources Management Department, was conducted by the head of the department, Ayten Shikhaliyeva. The goal was to inform employees about the rules for granting, calculating, and using leave, as well as their reflection in labor legislation. Ayten Shikhaliyeva said that leave is calculated for the employee's working year, that is, for the next 12 months from the date the employee started work, where the employee's length of service, workload, and other aspects are also taken into account. Then, Ayten Shikhaliyeva provided detailed information to the participants about the leave period provided for academic and administrative staff, the main and additional leave, the minimum leave period, the principles of their operation, and the procedure for calculating them. Finally, the participants' questions were answered.

An “Open Door” day was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) with the participation of Rector Vilayat Valiyev. The Rector, who met with applicants, students and parents who applied for participation in the “Open Door” day, listened to their questions. The Rector gave relevant instructions to the heads of relevant structures regarding the prompt resolution of problems in accordance with the current legislation.

As part of the events held to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Defense Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MODI), another infotour was organized for students of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) to one of the MODI institutions. First, the infotour participants visited the monument of the founder and architect of the modern Azerbaijani state, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, erected on the territory of the institution, and observed a minute of silence in memory of the Great Leader and our martyrs who gave their lives for the Motherland. The students were provided with detailed information about the history, stages of development and modern capabilities of the defense industry of Azerbaijan. It was noted that the defense industry of Azerbaijan, founded by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, is successfully developing today under the leadership of Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, and further strengthening this area in our country is one of the priorities of state policy. It was noted that in the Patriotic War, Azerbaijani weapons showed their strength and power to the enemy in practical combat conditions, and it was said that ensuring reliable armament of our Army with domestically produced military products created conditions for the successful implementation of combat operations. Then, the students were introduced to the production process of the enterprise and their questions were answered. The participants expressed their gratitude to the management of the Ministry of Education for organizing such educational tours and expressed their wish for such events to be continuous.

On July 2, a ceremony was held to present the Honorary Doctorate of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) to Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. First, the bust of the great leader Heydar Aliyev was visited in the AzTU lobby. Welcoming the participants of the event, AzTU Rector Vilayat Veliyev spoke about Ersin Tatar's services to the unity of the Turkic world. Later, Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, was presented with an Honorary Doctorate. Ersin Tatar, Honorary Doctor of AzTU and President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in turn, expressed his gratitude and emphasized that he would continue to make efforts towards the solidarity of the Turkic world.

President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar visited the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) “Engineer Development Program” (EDP) workshop. It was noted that the EDP workshop was established within the framework of the cooperation between the Turkish Aerospace Industries Corporation (TAIC) and AzTU. At the workshop, President Ersin Tatar was also given detailed information about the defense-purpose unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) jointly developed by students of AzTU and the National Aviation Academy (NAA). It was noted that the UAV in question was developed as a result of the “AzTU-Turkish Aerospace, EDP 2023.1” highly qualified engineering training program implemented within the framework of the joint cooperation between AzTU, TAIC and NAA. The UAV has the function of distinguishing between enemy and friendly soldiers by the colors of their uniforms (berets). The UAV can carry out its mission by flying at an altitude of 50 meters. The total duration of the process is 14 minutes. During the flight, the enemy coordinates are automatically calculated by the program, the general basic data is analyzed and transmitted to the Ground Control Station. The flight is carried out by controlling the direction of the UAV according to the information displayed on the Ground Station Interface (GUI). President Ersin Tatar met with the students working in the workshop and wished them success.

President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar visited the Library Information Center during his visit to Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Director of the Library Information Center Khayala Hajiyeva said that the center was established with the partnership of the Ministry of Science and Education, BP company and financial support of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Informing President Ersin Tatar about the opportunities created in the center, Khayala Hajiyeva noted that the two-story library serves 200 users at the same time. A repository has been created in the center, which meets international standards, ensuring the protection and use of scientific and cultural heritage, and a website has been developed where the library's electronic services are integrated. The center is equipped with the latest library security and self-service systems. Electronic kiosks allow readers to determine the availability of resources in the physical resource collection, and self-service technology ensures the free use of materials by users by logging into their accounts. In addition, the Library is equipped with printer and scanner equipment for users. It was also noted that the AzTU Library Information Center is the first library with a fully international infrastructure created in the country by local specialists.

The industrial internship of students studying in the industrial engineering specialty of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has ended at the Training and Development Department of Baku Shipyard. On June 30, 2025, the students successfully defended their industrial internship reports. In accordance with the results of the industrial internship, the Baku Shipyard Training and Development Department presented the students with certificates and gifts. AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev presented an honorary decree to the internship leader, Head of the Training and Development Department Najaf Mustafayev for the high-level organization of the internship. A letter of gratitude was also addressed to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baku Shipyard Elshad Nuriyev for the high-level organization of the industrial internship of students studying in the industrial engineering specialty.

Fariz Mammadov, Vice-Rector for International Relations of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), and Orkhan Vatankhah, Head of the International Relations Department, paid a working visit to the People's Republic of China. The purpose of the visit was to establish cooperation between AzTU and higher education institutions of the People's Republic of China, and to implement joint activities in the field of research and education. During the visit, AzTU representatives held meetings at Sias University in Zhengzhou, China, Beijing Institute of Technology in Beijing, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, North China University of Energy, Ningbo Branch of the University of Nottingham in Ningbo, Shanghai University of Engineering Sciences in Shanghai, Shanghai University of Science and Technology, East China University of Science and Technology, Tongji University, and Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology in Nanjing. Fariz Mammadov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, and Orkhan Vatankhah, Head of the International Relations Department, provided extensive information about AzTU during the meetings. Discussions with representatives of Chinese universities focused on issues such as the implementation of bilateral educational and research projects, mutual teacher-student exchange, writing joint scientific articles, preparation of dual diploma programs, implementation of joint scientific supervisions, mutual participation of students in summer school programs, involvement of doctoral students in scientific research and internship programs. During the visit, the delegation also visited the Research and Innovation Center of Huawei in Beijing, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperaton Organization (GEIDCO) organization, and the CHINT Global company operating in Shanghai. During the meetings with the mentioned organizations, a detailed exchange of views was held on the involvement of AzTU students in international internship programs and the implementation of joint scientific research with organizations. At the Research and Innovation Center of Huawei, the delegation was informed about the company's advanced technological solutions and invented products. A visual tour of the production areas at CHINT Global was conducted, models of industry and university cooperation were studied, as well as existing experience in implementing joint projects with universities.
