The World Finals of the 49th International Interuniversity Programming Contest (ICPC), the world's most prestigious programming competition, were held in Baku from August 31 to September 5, 2025, organized by the "ICPC Foundation", hosted by ADA University, in partnership with the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and in collaboration with the Innovation and Digital Development Agency and the "ICPC Azerbaijan Community". 139 teams from more than 70 countries participated in the ICPC World Finals.
At the opening ceremony of the ICPC World Finals held on September 1, Etibar Seyidzadeh, Director of the Institute of Information Technologies and Methodological Support in Education of AzTU, was presented with the ICPC Foundation's high awards: "Honorary Award for Public Activity" and "Joseph S. DeBlasi Honorary Cooperation Award".
The ICPC Foundation’s “Honorary Award for Public Service” is presented to an individual or group who has played a significant role in promoting the International Interuniversity Programming Contest.
The ICPC Foundation’s “Joseph S. DeBlasi Honorary Collaboration Award” is presented annually to an individual or group who has played a significant role in the success of the ICPC for five or more years.
It should be noted that the ICPC (International Interuniversity Programming Contest) has been held regularly since 1977. Every year, more than 50,000 students from more than 3,000 universities in 110 countries participate in this competition.
Student teams from Azerbaijani higher education institutions have been participating in the ICPC - International Interuniversity Programming Contest since 2000. Since 2005, ICPC Azerbaijan regional competitions have been held.
Etibar Seyidzadeh – serves as the chairman of the jury of the ICPC Azerbaijan regional competition (2005–2022), regional competition director (2023–present), team coach (2005–present), and is the founder of the ICPC Azerbaijan Community.
