A delegation led by the rector of Sivas Cumhuriyet University of Turkey, Professor Ahmed Sengonul, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The guests met with AzTU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Nurali Yusifbeyli, and representatives of the university. Mehmet Shimshir, Vice-Rector of Turkey-Azerbaijan University (TAU), also attended the meeting. Vice-Rector Nurali Yusifbeyli welcomed the guests and expressed his satisfaction with seeing them at AzTU. The vice-rector provided detailed information on the work done at the university in the field of science and research, the implemented dual diploma programs and projects, as well as the innovations brought by AzTU to the education sector of Azerbaijan. Representatives of Sivas Cumhuriyet University, in turn, made a presentation on the university's areas of activity. During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on establishing cooperation between AzTU and Sivas Cumhuriyet University. Proposals were made on the establishment of joint research centers that would be beneficial for both universities, joint cooperation at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels of education, and the preparation of joint research projects. Issues related to faculty and student exchange and organizing joint events initiated by universities were also discussed.

Employees of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) - Director of the Institute of Logistics and Transport Fuad Dashdemirov, Head of the Department of Transport Engineering and Management Technologies Gasim Manafov and Associate Professor Nijat Zohrabov participated in the scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Professor Akmal Anvarovich Mukhitdinov of the Department of Transport Engineering, held at the Tashkent State Transport University of Uzbekistan. At the event, Akmal Anvarovich Mukhitdinov was presented with a gift on behalf of the AzTU management and staff. Within the framework of the conference, AzTU employees held discussions on the development of mobility plans in cities, exchange of experience with the departments and research centers of the Tashkent State Transport University on the design of electric and hybrid vehicles, and the participation of students studying in transport specialties in joint research. They also got acquainted with the construction of electric vehicles, railway equipment and facilities, and the laboratories of the Primary Engineering School.

Eyvaz Mahammadli, Special Representative for Work with Applicants of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), and Amin Mamedov, Academic Advisor of the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology, held a series of meetings with applicants and heads of regional education sectors in Sheki city, Ismayilli, Gabala, Oghuz, Zagatala, Gakh and Balakan regions. During the meetings, applicants were informed about AzTU's specialties, practical knowledge-based education model, production practices implemented within the framework of cooperation with industrial enterprises, startup-oriented activities and students' successes in this field. They also discussed the conditions and opportunities created for students to participate in new projects. The university's international relations, dual diploma programs and academic exchange opportunities were also met with interest by applicants. Applicants were also provided with detailed information about special scholarships for students admitted to AzTU with high performance, as well as incentive mechanisms that support their personal development and academic achievements. As part of the visit, cooperation meetings were also held with the heads of regional education sectors. The main areas of cooperation between AzTU and secondary schools were discussed at the meetings, including technology-oriented initiatives, promotion of engineering specialties, joint projects that will support the development of students' digital skills, startup-oriented activities, and provision of mentor support in this area. AzTU will continue such meetings in the future in order to shape applicants interested in technology and engineering fields as professionals and specialists who meet modern requirements.

A cybersecurity competition in the “Capture The Flag” (CTF) format was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) by the Cybersecurity Department and the “CyberDEV” cyber club. Students studying in the information security specialty participated in the event. The goal was to develop practical skills among students interested in the field of cybersecurity, strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and increase the ability to work in a team. In the CTF competition, participants completed tasks in various areas such as open source intelligence, reverse engineering, digital forensics, and practical application of cryptanalysis tools. Such competitions will play an important role in identifying young people with special potential in the field of cybersecurity at AzTU and in forming teams that will adequately represent the university in internal and external CTF competitions.

The delegation of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), led by Rector Professor Vilayat Valiyev, paid an official visit to Indonesia. The delegation also included AzTU’s Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations, Professor Subhan Namazov, and the Director of the Research and Development Department, Bakhtiyar Badalov. The primary goal of the visit was to establish and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in research, education, and innovation between AzTU and Indonesia’s leading higher education institutions, as well as to sign Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in this regard. During the visit, the delegation toured Indonesia University, Jakarta State University, Atma Jaya Catholic University, and BINUS University. At each meeting, opportunities for scientific and academic collaboration were extensively discussed. Taking into account the priority focus areas of each university, specific cooperation fields were identified, and prospects for joint projects in the future were explored. At Indonesia University, Rector Vilayat Valiyev emphasized AzTU’s commitment to international partnerships, particularly in joint scientific projects, student and faculty exchanges, and the organization of joint scientific conferences and seminars. The Rector of Indonesia University, Professor Ir. Heri Hermansyah, along with the vice-rectors, positively received these initiatives and expressed interest in cooperation within the fields of engineering and information technology. The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and collaboration. At the meeting held at Jakarta State University, issues such as the implementation of joint educational programs, the improvement of teaching technologies in engineering specialties, the organization of joint research, and the development of internship programs were thoroughly discussed. The meeting was attended by the Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, Professor Vilayat Valiyev, and the Rector of Jakarta State University, Professor Komarudin M. Sİ. The parties agreed to cooperate in these areas, and the partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding. The delegation also visited two leading private universities in Indonesia, Atma Jaya Catholic University and BINUS University. At Atma Jaya Catholic University, they gained an in-depth understanding of the university’s teaching and innovation potential, engaging in extensive discussions about startup-oriented research and joint projects. At BINUS University, the delegation explored experiences in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and the commercialization of scientific research. Both parties reviewed the possibilities of applying BINUS’s advanced research platform at AzTU and agreed on collaboration in areas of mutual interest. The visit culminated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the universities. During the visit, Rector Professor Vilayat Valiyev highlighted that expanding AzTU’s network of international scientific research, education, and innovation partnerships and integrating into the global scientific community, especially through cooperation with Asian countries, is a key component of AzTU’s strategic development plan. He expressed confidence that these collaborations would create new opportunities for the university.

On May 21, the 2024/2025 season of the Azerbaijan Student League in futsal among students of higher education institutions was concluded. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Education, President of the Azerbaijan Student Football Federation Public Union Firudin Gurbanov, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade, Chairman of the Republican Committee of the Azerbaijan Free Trade Union of Education Workers Araz Pashayev, officials of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Student Football Federation Public Union, and veteran football players. It should be noted that the Azerbaijan Student League has been held since 2023 with the organization of the Ministry of Science and Education and the Azerbaijan Student Football Federation Public Union, with the support of the Republican Committee of the Azerbaijan Free Trade Union of Education Workers and the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan. The purpose of holding the league was to promote futsal among students of higher education institutions, identify promising athletes among them, increase interest in this sport, and form a futsal national team consisting of students. The 2024/2025 season of the Azerbaijan Student League started on November 29, 2024, and 12 higher education institutions competed in the league. The team of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) took second place in the final stage of the league. After the games, an award ceremony was held for the winners. The winning teams were presented with medals and cash prizes.

The Republican Committee of the Azerbaijan Free Trade Union of Education Workers (ATIAHI) held a ceremony to present the “Named Scholarship” to students who actively participate in education and the student trade union movement. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov, Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan Sahib Mammadov, Chairman of the ATIAHI Republican Committee Araz Pashayev, Chairman of the Science and Education Committee of the Milli Majlis Anar Isgandarov, heads of higher education institutions, teachers and students. First, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, and the memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and our heroes who died for the territorial integrity of our country was commemorated with a minute of silence. The speakers spoke about the youth policy implemented in our country, the development of education and the measures taken towards the social welfare of students. It was noted that the “Named Scholarship” project played a significant role in increasing students’ interest in science, education and social activism. It should be noted that within the framework of this project, which has been implemented by ATIAHI since 1995, 3179 students have been awarded scholarships to date. For the 2024–2025 academic year, 308 students were awarded "Named Scholarships". It is gratifying that among these students, there are 14 students who actively participate in the initiatives of the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC) of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and show excellent results in their classes.

The Republican AIDS Center (RACC) of the Ministry of Health held an information session at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as part of the measures to combat the disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (HIV infection). The main goal of the event, organized by the AzTU Student Youth Organization, was to raise awareness among students about the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and to emphasize the importance of preventive measures in this area. The awareness-raising event provided extensive information on the ways of HIV and AIDS transmission, methods of prevention, and the impact of the disease on society. The students were also explained the importance of being properly informed on this topic and the issues of protecting the rights of people living with HIV.

On May 13-16, in Turkestan, Kazakhstan, organized by the "Turkish Engineers Association" and invited by the Republican Committee of the Free Trade Union of Education Workers of Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Trade Union Committee (TUC) of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Professor Mehman Hasanov, Head of the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications, Professor Yadigar Imamverdiyev, Head of the Department of Cybersecurity, and Associate Professor Atif Namazov, Head of the Department of Engineering Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, participated in discussions on various fields at the "II Turkic World International Engineering Summit". AzTU employees made extensive presentations on relevant topics at the event. Discussions were held on various aspects of engineering at the event, and views were exchanged on modern problems of engineering, upcoming tasks, the Turkic World Engineering Union, and future prospects. In addition, Elvin Bakhtiyarli, who spoke about the role of public organizations and trade unions in engineering, spoke about the work carried out by the ATIAHI Republican Committee and, accordingly, the AzTU HIK at the event. Discussions were held in a number of areas of engineering during the four-day summit. At the end of the event, it was decided to hold the “III Turkic World International Engineering Summit” in Azerbaijan in 2026.

Ramazan Guliyev, a student of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), participated in the “General Assembly” event of the ESTIEM organization held in Cosenza, Italy. Important topics related to the general management structure of ESTIEM were discussed at the event, new local groups were announced to join the ESTIEM family, and changes in the leadership team were announced. Activity reports for the last 6 months, as well as a report on the “Council Meeting (CM)” event, were also presented to the participants. At the same time, the country where the CM event will be held for the next year was determined by voting. Within the framework of the event, there were ample opportunities to get acquainted with ESTIEM members from different countries, exchange experiences, and network. This ESTIEM event was an important experience for AzTU student Ramazan Guliyev in terms of being represented in the international student network, directly participating in the organizational decision-making process, and closely studying the mechanisms of ESTIEM’s activities.
