The State Service for Special Communications and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCSIS) held another competition in the field of cybersecurity within the first semester of the 2025–2026 academic year to assess the knowledge and skills of students studying at the bachelor's and master's levels at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). According to the final results, Rahimli Mahmud Samad oglu and Verdizade Omar Rufat oglu, 3rd-year students studying in the information security specialty of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications, as well as Shukurlu Aydin Elbeyi oglu, who is studying in the security of state information systems at the master's level at the Institute of Higher Education of AzTU, were declared winners with special distinction. The award ceremony was attended by the Deputy Head of the SCSIS, Major General Allahveran Ismayilov, Rector of AzTU, Professor Vilayat Valiyev, and other representatives. During the speeches, the importance of the existing cooperation between state agencies and higher education institutions was highlighted, and it was emphasized that training young specialists in cybersecurity is one of the strategic priorities for the state. It was noted that within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the XRITDX and AzTU on November 5, 2022, competitions are regularly held for AzTU students and the winning students are awarded, and conditions are created for students studying in the field of information security to participate in events within the framework of the practical training program. The events carried out are of great importance in transforming students' theoretical knowledge into practical skills and strengthening the human resource potential of the cybersecurity field in the country. Then, the representatives of XRITDX got acquainted with the modern educational infrastructure of AzTU, as well as laboratories created with the support of the Service, updated classrooms for communication and telecommunications, as well as innovative learning environments and advanced educational technologies applied.

A training on the topic “The impact of financial literacy on career success” was held at the joint initiative of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) Career and Employment Center and AccessBank. The goal was to strengthen students’ personal financial management skills, shape their financial behavior correctly, and explain the role of financial decisions in future career development. The training, organized by students of the Faculty of Industrial Economics and Management, was delivered to the attention of students by Khumar Huseynova, Head of the Education and Development Department of AccessBank, and Ilhama Rustamli, Head of the Business Partnership Department. During the training, students also had the opportunity to deeply understand the importance of financial literacy in everyday life and professional development based on real-life examples, various practical tasks, and interactive discussions. At the end, students’ questions were answered.

A scientific article co-authored by Professor Nuran Abdullayev, Director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Doctor of Medical Sciences, on the application of artificial intelligence in the field of medicine has been published in the journal “European Journal of Radiology Artificial Intelligence”. The journal “European Journal of Radiology Artificial Intelligence” is one of the leading scientific publications covering advances in artificial intelligence in clinical radiology and brings the latest innovations in the field of medicine to the attention of readers. The scientific journal, whose profile is mainly applications of artificial intelligence in clinical radiology, is a relevant database for both clinicians and engineers. The article discusses the unbiased use of artificial intelligence in medical imaging, radiology and clinical decision-making processes, as well as its adaptation to European standards. The publication of the name of AzTU as a science center in such a prestigious journal for the first time is a significant achievement for Azerbaijani science.

The closing ceremony of the “Victory Tournament” organized by the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC) on the occasion of November 8 - Victory Day and the 75th anniversary of the university was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). First, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, and the National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played. Congratulating the winners, AzTU Vice-Rector Rashad Aliyev said that the “Victory Tournament” is one of the important events that both celebrate the historical significance of Victory Day and contribute to the 75th anniversary of AzTU. He especially noted the successes of AzTU students in international and local competitions in sports. He noted that the promotion of a healthy lifestyle is always in the spotlight at AzTU. Then an award ceremony was held. It should be noted that more than 200 first-year students competed in 6 sports in the tournament. Competitions were organized in football, volleyball, table tennis, checkers, chess and basketball. Students from the Turkey-Azerbaijan University also participated in the tournament.

A seminar on "Risk and Compliance" was organized by the SABAH Center of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). At the seminar, Ali Mammadzadeh, Head of the Cyber ​​Threats Department of AKTA, brought important information to the attention of students on risk assessment, compliance culture, and cyber threat management. Questions of interest to students were answered during the interactive seminar.

The “ZAFER” team, led by Sarvan Aziz, Associate Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Doctor of Philosophy in National Security and Military Sciences, has won the “TUSAŞ Lift Up 2025 Industry-Oriented Graduation Project - Graduate Projects” competition announced by the Turkish Aviation and Space Industry Company (TUSAŞ) within the framework of the 2025-2026 academic year. The “ZAFER” team, represented by a total of 5 students from AzTU, will carry out the project work on the topic of “Optimization of polishing parameters of bevel gears”. The industrial consultant of the project, which is implemented with the support of TUSAŞ, is Bahadir Kartal. The captain of the “ZAFER” team is Rufat Dadashzadeh, a 4th-year student in Instrument Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy, and the team members are Aysel Muradova, Nasib Abdullayev, Fatima Mahmudova and Narmin Karimli. It should be noted that teams consisting of students of Azerbaijan Technical University have been participating in this competition since the 2023/2024 academic year. AzTU's cooperation with TUSAŞ has been established since 2022. The "TUSAŞ Lift Up Industry-Oriented Graduation Project - Graduate Projects" competition provides the participation of AzTU undergraduate engineering students by forming teams. The coordination of the project work is carried out by AzTU's School of Lifelong Learning.

Startup Days were held at the Incubation Center of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Within the framework of the two-day program, students presented their innovative ideas and developed their projects in close cooperation with experts and mentors. On the first day of the event, welcoming the participants, President of the Azerbaijan Internet Forum and Head of the “Startup Azerbaijan” platform Osman Gunduz spoke about the development of the startup ecosystem in the country, the involvement of young people in innovative initiatives, and the importance of the event. Then, the speakers informed the students about the evaluation criteria and the requirements of the next stages. AzTU Incubation Center Coordinator Azad Musayev made a presentation on the general concept, stages, and expectations of Startup Days, and also answered students' questions. On the first day of the event, 6 ideas were selected from 16 projects submitted by students and qualified for the next stage. Teams were formed based on the selected ideas, and conditions were created for these teams to develop their projects with the support of mentors. On the second day of the event, the teams formed the prototype of their projects and the presentation structure with the participation of experts and mentors. The teams were given extensive advice on project preparation, determining the right direction, teamwork, presentation techniques, and important points when speaking to the jury. After the teams presented their projects, the jury (Orkhan Ahmadov, Rashad Aliyev, Farid Kazimov, Gunel Mammadli, Aysel Sadiqova) evaluated the projects on innovativeness, focus on a current problem, technical justification, teamwork, and implementation potential. Based on the results, the “Lingo AI” team was awarded 1st place, the “Cyber ​​Defence with AI” team was awarded 2nd place, and the “Bridge to Abroad” team was awarded 3rd place. The winners were presented with diplomas and certificates.

The Eurasian Forum “Expanding Horizons: Building Global Bridges in Higher Education” was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, organized by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) global ranking agency and hosted by the University of Central Asia. The forum, which was attended by representatives of leading universities in Europe and Asia, was represented by Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Professor Nurali Yusifbeyli, Vice-Rector for International Relations Fariz Mammadov, and Director of the Research and Development Department Bakhtiyar Badalov. Within the framework of the forum, meetings and discussions were held with the participating universities to establish bilateral relations in order to improve the international rating of AzTU in the field of science, education, and research.

Within the framework of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program of the Asian Development Bank, of which Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner, the next regional seminar on “Climate-adapted agriculture in the CAREC region” was held at the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K. I. Skryabin in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, in connection with the regional technical assistance project “Strengthening Green Skills Development”. The seminar was attended by Wageningen University of the Netherlands and leading agrarian and technical universities of CAREC program member countries. AzTU, the only higher education institution in Azerbaijan, was represented at the event by its Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Nurali Yusifbeyli, and Head of the Department of Digital Economy and Financial Technologies, Jeyhun Hajiyev. Vice-Rector of AzTU Nurali Yusifbeyli noted the importance of engineering and digital transformation in building sustainable agriculture in line with climate change, and drew attention to the important role of technical universities in this area. Jeyhun Hajiyev, Head of the Department of Digital Economy and Financial Technologies, delivered a report on the topic of “Just Transition”. In his report, he emphasized the importance of careful study of social justice, community preparation, risk management and green economy transformation in the adaptation of agriculture to climate change by higher education institutions and their support to industry and the public in these areas. He also shared AzTU’s experience in relevant areas with the participants. A partnership agreement was also signed within the framework of the event between the higher education institutions participating in the project, the Asian Development Bank and Wageningen University. The agreement envisages academic cooperation, research projects and the creation of new educational programs for the development of climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture in the CAREC region.

An infosession on "Artificial intelligence technologies and Big Data analytics in digital health systems" was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) organized by the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. Speaking at the infosession, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev spoke about the scientific research conducted by the Institute of Biomedical Engineering over the past year in the direction of applying artificial intelligence in medicine. The Rector said that cooperation between the institute and medical institutions is planned in the near future. It was also emphasized that this cooperation will create useful opportunities for solving existing problems in this area. Chairman of the German-Azerbaijani Radiological and Neuroradiological Society, Head of the Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Neuroradiology Clinic in Troisdorf, Germany, Fellow of the University of Cologne and Director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of AzTU, Professor Nuran Abdullayev, spoke about the work done by the institute he leads over the past year. He noted that the institute has achieved a number of firsts in Azerbaijan during this period. The Institute of Biomedical Engineering is the first institute in the country where joint scientific research is carried out in the field of engineering and medicine. Scientific research conducted at the institute has been published in international scientific journals. Nuran Abdullayev also spoke about the contribution of artificial intelligence to solving many issues in diagnostics and treatment. He said that a proposal plan for the institute's field of activity for all institutions in Azerbaijan is already ready and the institute is open to all cooperation in this direction. Director of the Republican Clinical Hospital, Honored Physician, Spine Surgeon, Orthopedic Traumatologist, Sports Medicine Specialist, Doctor of Philosophy Elviz Gasimov called the establishment of strategic cooperation between AzTU and relevant state institutions on artificial intelligence-based biomedical solutions a commendable step. He said that he hopes that the AzTU Institute of Biomedical Engineering will also contribute to the process of digitalization of the healthcare system. Then, employees of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering Sevinj Aliyeva and Khalid Nazarov made a detailed presentation about the institute's scientific research.
