An educational event on organ donation was held for students, organized by the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and initiated by the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation under the Ministry of Health. The goal was to increase the level of awareness among students about organ donation and to form public awareness in this area. AzTU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Nurali Yusifbeyli, spoke about the moral and social importance of organ donation and emphasized the importance of educating students in this area. Gunay Abbasova, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation, provided detailed information on the importance of organ donation, the measures implemented in this area in Azerbaijan, and the implementation mechanisms. She noted that the field of organ donation and transplantation in Azerbaijan is regulated by legislation. Mehriban Aliyeva, physician-coordinator of the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation, presented the experience of countries around the world in this area to the attention of students in the form of slides. The event continued in a question-and-answer format.

A group of students from the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) were given an excursion to the Military History Museum. During the excursion, it was reported that the two-story Military History Museum was established in 1992. The students were given extensive information about the development path of Azerbaijani military history from ancient times to the present day, various equipment and weapons used by our army. The students were closely acquainted with the photos, documents, personal belongings, military uniforms reflecting the life and activities of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the museum, and his work in the field of army building. In addition, the students were provided with detailed information about the Victory Hall dedicated to the 44-day Patriotic War, as well as the military equipment displayed in the courtyard of the museum.

Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has risen to 835th place (1014th place in 2024) according to the results of the international ranking “UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025”. While AzTU’s total score in 2024 was 4645, it reached 5798 points in 2025. A significant increase was recorded in the “Setting & Infrastructure”, “Energy & Climate Change”, “Waste”, “Water”, “Transportation” and “Education & Research” indicators according to the evaluation criteria. The results achieved are a logical result of the institutional reforms carried out at the university in recent years, the work done to increase management based on the principles of sustainable development, environmental responsibility, as well as the strengthening of educational and scientific research activities. It should be noted that AzTU continues to implement systematic measures to expand its activities in accordance with international standards, implement the “green university” concept and further strengthen its positions in global rankings.

An event dedicated to the memory of the architect and founder of the modern independent Azerbaijani state, world-famous political figure, and National Leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev, was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The event organized at the AzTU Heydar Aliyev Center commemorated the memory of the Great Leader with a minute of silence. The National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played. Speaking at the event, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev, Member of the Milli Majlis, Doctor of Historical Sciences Vasif Gafarov spoke about the services of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev to the Azerbaijani people, his great mission of salvation, and the important reforms he implemented in all areas of the country. It was noted that in the early 90s of the last century, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who returned to power at the insistent demand of the people, saved the country from the threat of destruction. Today's independent Azerbaijan is the work of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. It was also emphasized that Heydar Aliyev's far-sighted policy ensured the perpetuity of independence in Azerbaijan, strengthened statehood, and protected national and cultural heritage. Today, his political line is successfully continued by the President of Azerbaijan, the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev.

22 years have passed since the death of Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of the modern independent Azerbaijani state, a world-famous political figure, and the National Leader of our people. On December 12, the staff of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and Turkey-Azerbaijan University (TAU) visited the grave of the Great Leader in the Alley of Honor. The memory of the outstanding ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva was also commemorated with respect.

A meeting of students and staff with Vafa Musayeva, an Azerbaijani female mountaineer and instructor-pedagogue who conquered Mount Everest, was organized at Azerbaijan Technical University (AZTU). Advisor to the Rector of AzTU Sevil Imanova said that the meeting with Vafa Musayeva is an introduction to the results of female determination and professional experience. She noted that in addition to Mount Everest, Vafa Musayeva has climbed the famous Lhotse, Yurhim peaks, Elbrus, Savalan mountains and other heights. Then, the mountaineer Vafa Musayeva made a speech. She spoke about the role of mountaineering in human life, the high spirits it creates and strong self-confidence. Vafa Musayeva also shared her experiences and talked about overcoming obstacles on the way to her goals. The event continued with the mountaineer answering questions. Finally, AzTU Vice-Rector Rashad Aliyev thanked Vafa Musayeva and expressed his belief that this event will be a motivation for the personal development of students. It should be noted that Vafa Musayeva is the first Azerbaijani woman to conquer Everest, and the third Azerbaijani climber to climb this peak overall.

A meeting of employees of Azerishig OJSC with students on the topic "Future Engineers: Modern Trends in University-Industry Cooperation" was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Nijat Huseynov, Acting Director of the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development of AzTU, emphasized the importance of university-industry cooperation and noted that such events will provide great benefits for the development and future careers of students. Farid Zaliyev, Head of the Technological Innovations and Think Tank Center of Azerishig OJSC, provided extensive information on the latest innovative technologies applied by the institution he represents, reforms carried out in the field of digitalization, and projects implemented to develop human capital in the energy sector. He also spoke about new trends in the energy sector and career opportunities offered to young specialists in this direction. At the event, students were provided with detailed information on modern systems applied in distribution electricity networks, the "Smart Grid" concept, digital management platforms, and innovative equipment. In addition, there was an exchange of views on the importance of choosing the right profession, the role of motivation in the engineering field, and the demands of the modern labor market. At the end of the meeting, which continued in an interactive discussion format with the students, questions were answered.

Startup Days were organized at the Incubation Center of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) in partnership with the “Startup Azerbaijan” platform. The two-day event aimed to develop students’ knowledge and skills in innovative ideas, support the formation of new startup teams, and strengthen the startup environment at the university. After the opening event, 43 startup ideas were presented by students, and as a result of voting, 8 most promising teams qualified for the next stage. The selected teams began the stage of developing initial prototypes and business models of their projects with the support of mentors. On the second day of the event, the selected teams worked together with mentors (Orkhan Ahmadov, Bahruz Mustafayev, Azer Bayramov, Rasim Abdullayev, and Rashad Aliyev) to develop their projects. At the end of the day, the teams presented their projects to a jury. The evaluation was based on innovativeness, technical justification, teamwork, and implementation potential. According to the results, the “Medical-X” team was awarded 1st place, the “Safe Her” team was awarded 2nd place, and the “Work Finder” team was awarded 3rd place. The winning teams were awarded diplomas and certificates.

The Department of Mechanics of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), as well as the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC), organized an excursion to “Hidroservice Engineering” LLC for 4th year students studying in the field of mechanical engineering. The main purpose of the excursion was to apply the knowledge gained from theoretical classes in practice, familiarize students with the real production environment and study technological processes. The director of the enterprise Bakhtiyar Ganbarov, chief engineer Sabuhi Jabbarli and associate professor of the Department of Mechanics Ismayil Ismayil provided the students with detailed information about the production areas of the enterprise, the working principle of the equipment, and the innovative engineering solutions applied here. Here, the students also had the opportunity to learn important stages such as the preparation of mechanical structures, processing of materials, organization of the technological line and the application of safety requirements. At the end of the excursion, an agreement was reached on increasing the number of such trips that develop the practical knowledge of students, as well as the possibility of holding open classes in some specialty classes at the enterprise.

The II Summit of the AzTU Alumni Association was held within the framework of the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty” and the 75th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). First, the dear memory of the sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our lands was commemorated with a minute of silence. The National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played. Welcoming the graduates, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev said that the event was dedicated to both the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty” and the 75th anniversary of the university. The Rector said that the spirit of patriotism and the love of the Motherland of students have always been at the forefront at AzTU. AzTU students and graduates have always fought at the forefront in both the First Karabakh and the 44-day Patriotic Wars for the independence and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. At the same time, AzTU has given prominent figures who have made significant contributions to Azerbaijani science, including the country's industry and economy, over the past 75 years. Currently, AzTU graduates are working in various positions in state institutions and private companies, as well as in foreign countries. All this shows that AzTU is a higher education institution with rich scientific traditions, which treats its students with special attention and care. AzTU graduate, Deputy Director General of the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute Madar Guliyev made a comprehensive presentation on the employment and career development of graduates during the one-year activity of the AzTU Alumni Association. AzTU graduate, Director General of the Institute of Information Technologies, Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Rasim Aliguliyev, spoke about the importance of the engineering profession in the world during his speech. He noted that today there is a need for engineering personnel in all fields. He also noted that graduates should not be satisfied with the knowledge they learned during their university years, but should regularly take advantage of the opportunities of the higher education institution to master information related to engineering in accordance with the requirements of the modern era. AzTU graduate and employee Gunel Mammadli provided detailed information on the working principle and registration process of the AzTU Alumni Platform, which will be launched in the near future. Then a video clip about AzTU was shown. AzTU graduate, MP Mikhail Zabelin, in turn, thanked the university administration for organizing the II Summit of the Alumni Association. AzTU graduate Abil Aliyev, who worked as an associate professor at the university's Department of Electronic Computing in 1988-2003, spoke about his memories of his student years. Turkish graduates of AzTU, Ozcan Karavar, head of the Kar Tem Cleaning company, and Ertugrul Altıntash, co-founder of the Galata Medical and CTR Group CIS companies, said that they came to Azerbaijan from Turkey to participate in this event. They shared their memories of their student years. The event continued with a performance by Aynur Isgenderli and Kenan Gadimov, laureates of international competitions, soloists of the Separate Model Military Orchestra of the Ministry of Defense.
