Representatives of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center held an info session at AzTU

The next info session of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center (AKM) was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). During the info session, registration was announced open for the VI wave of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center (AKM) trainings, which were jointly established by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport (RINN), the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDIA) and the Israeli “Technion” Institute of Technology. Ayten Sadiqova, head of the SABAH groups of AzTU, spoke about the importance of developing the field of cybersecurity. She said that the AzTU administration attaches great importance to this field and that all conditions have been created at the university to improve the knowledge and skills of students in this area. AKM mentor Sanan Novruzlu provided detailed information about the current cyber threats in the world and in the country, their damage, theft of state-important data, as well as cyber attacks on private sector data. He stated that the purpose of conducting AKM trainings is to form the knowledge and skills of cybersecurity personnel in the country at the highest level. AKM mentor Sakhavat Abdiyev provided AzTU students with detailed information about AKM. He said that a total of 360 people are planned to be trained for the first 6 waves of AKM, 240 people have graduated from the first 4 waves, and currently the trainings of the 5th wave are about to end. All graduates represent the center in both state institutions and the private sector. The representative of the center called on AzTU students to be active and join the last 6th wave of the trainings. Registration for the trainings will be completed on May 7. AKM mentor Osman Aliyev emphasized during the info session that the trainings conducted by the Center are based on the training program of the Israeli Technion Institute of Technology and it is planned to train 60 specialists for each training period. The center's employee noted that the team of foreign trainers checks the level of English, IT skills, psychological state of the participants who applied for the training, and also tests their interview skills. As a result, candidates who successfully passed all stages are given 6-month training in the "Blue team" (defense) and "Red team" (attack). Those who successfully complete the training are given an official certificate from the "Technion" Institute. Finally, representatives of the AKM answered questions of interest to AzTU students.

AzTU students won 2nd place in the "GreenTech II" startup and green technologies competition

The final stage of the "GreenTech II" startup and green technologies competition was held in Ganja, organized by the Azerbaijan University of Technology (ATU), the Education Development Fund (EDF), and the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA). 80 teams from 30 universities of the country competed in 4 categories (Digital Ecology, Robotics, Green Transport Technologies, and Social Innovations for Sustainable Development). 2 teams represented Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) in the "GreenTech" startup and green technologies competition. The "City Mobility" team, which included second- and third-year students of the Faculty of Transport and Logistics of AzTU, was awarded second place in the "Green Transport Technologies" category. The mentor of the winning project, titled "Prospects for the Implementation of the Micromobility Plan in Small Cities" (on the Example of the City of Bilasuvar), is Allahverdi Sharifov, Dean of the Faculty of Transport and Logistics of AzTU. After the jury's evaluation, the winning teams were awarded certificates and valuable gifts.

Seminar on ISO 21001:2018 Standard Held at AzTU

On April 17, 2025, a seminar on the ISO 21001:2018 – Management System for Educational Organizations Standard was organized at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) by the Quality Association. The event brought together active participation from staff members representing various faculties and structural units of the university. The main objective of the seminar was to provide detailed information to participants about the core principles, structure, and implementation mechanisms of the ISO 21001:2018 standard, as well as to emphasize its role in the development and enhancement of quality assurance systems in higher education institutions. During the seminar, presentations were delivered by experts from the Quality Association, showcasing real-world examples and discussing the practical significance of the standard. Participants also engaged in discussions focused on the potential for implementing ISO 21001:2018 at AzTU, and their questions were addressed by the presenters. At the end of the event, the Quality Assurance Department of AzTU conducted a feedback survey to assess the effectiveness of the seminar. The insights gathered will serve as a reference for improving the quality of future training and awareness activities. Such educational events play a vital role in strengthening the culture of quality at the university, promoting the adoption of international standards, and ensuring continuous institutional development.

The final round of the "Bebras" Informatics and Algorithmic Thinking competition was held at AzTU

The final stage of the “Bebras” Informatics and Algorithmic Thinking Competition was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) with the joint organization of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IRIA), the Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARTI), the Institute of Information Technologies and Methodological Support of AzTU and “Learn by yourself” LLC. The main goal of the competition is to increase students' interest in the field of information technologies and computer science through interactive tasks. The algorithmic thinking and computer skills of 418 students participating in the final round of the competition were tested and automatically evaluated. The competition was held through the portal https://bebras.az/ and participants were given 45 minutes to answer questions. The final - super-final stage of the competition will be held in June 2025.

Members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Science and Education met with students

A meeting was held with the participation of students and young people in joint cooperation between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and the Public Council under the Ministry of Science and Education. Within the framework of the meeting, first, an exchange of views was held between the vice-rectors of the university and the members of the Public Council on higher education management, social welfare of students and quality of education. The participants took part in an info tour covering a number of faculties and administrative areas of the university. After the National Anthem of Azerbaijan and a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland, a panel meeting with the participation of more than 300 students began. At the opening of the event, AzTU Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations Narmin Rzayeva and Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Science and Education Hikmet Alizadeh spoke and provided information on the importance of public control in higher education, the role of open dialogue with students and the activities carried out in this direction. Then, interactive panel discussions were organized with students. They shared their views on the educational process and voiced current difficulties. During the discussions, ideas were exchanged on topics such as expanding internship opportunities, increasing student participation in decision-making, and promoting activism in university life. Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) held a commemorative event titled “Who Remembers Me” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the renowned National Poet of Azerbaijan, Nabi Khazri. The event was organized by the Department of Humanities in collaboration with the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC). The celebration brought together an esteemed group of attendees, including members of the poet’s family and relatives—Arzu Babayev, Parikhanim Aliyeva, Gulumsar Abbasova, Sariyya Baghirova, and Natavan Aliyeva. Distinguished guests also included Sanan Talibov from the Ministry of Culture; People's Artist and Head of the Stage Speech Department at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (ASUCA), Professor Mammadsafa Gasimov; Doctor of Art Studies, Professor Abbasgulu Najafzade from the Azerbaijan National Conservatory; Head of Department and Associate Professor Firudin Gurbansoy; Almas Baghirova, granddaughter of poet Ahmad Javad; and Leyla Akhundzade, daughter of Dilbar Akhundzade, wife of poet Mikayil Mushfig. Students from Azerbaijan Technical University and Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Fine Arts performed popular songs composed to the poet’s lyrics, including “Güllərim,” “Külək,” “Heç küsmeğin yeridirmi, yar?”, “Nar ağacı, nar çiçəyi,” and “Azerbaijan.” A musical-literary composition titled “Deniz, Goy, Aşiqəm Sənə” was presented by students from Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Fine Arts to honor the poet’s centenary. In recognition of his contributions to the composition, Professor and People's Artist Mammadsafa Gasimov received a letter of appreciation. Head of the Department of Humanities at AzTU, Habib Mirzayev, spoke about the poet’s literary significance, emphasizing the recurring motifs of the Caspian Sea and the plane tree in Khazri’s poetry—symbols of his deep connection to nature and national identity. Speaking on behalf of the poet’s family, his son Arzu Babayev expressed gratitude to AzTU for organizing the event and honoring his father’s memory. He also recited Nabi Khazri’s poem “My Heart.” The event concluded with the screening of a video documentary reflecting the life and creative journey of Nabi Khazri.

Anabaci Amiraslanova and Orkhan Salmanov, first-year students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), have achieved 3rd place in the international Constructor Spring Challenge 2025. The competition, focused on mathematics and programming, was organized by the prestigious Constructor University in Germany in collaboration with the Constructor Talent School.
