The employees of the Quality Assurance Department of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) – Narmin Khasayeva and Hamida Hasanova participated in the “II ADA Symposium on Quality Assurance in Higher Education” dedicated to quality assurance in higher education, organized by ADA University and in partnership with the Quality Assurance Agency in Education (QAEA). The main goal of the symposium was to bring together representatives of higher education institutions operating in the field of quality assurance and create conditions for the exchange of ideas and experiences. Within the framework of the two-day symposium, topical issues, global trends and best practices in the field of quality assurance and accreditation were discussed with the participation of local and international experts, and seminars on the topic were also organized. The discussions focused on topics such as national accreditation, internal quality assurance systems, evaluation of educational programs, quality of teaching and learning, human resources development, sustainability and project management. At the end of the event, certificates were presented to the participants.

Kamal Hasanli, a second-year student of the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology of the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), was awarded the second place in the “Robomission” category at the VIII Republican Robot Olympiad. It should be noted that the Olympiad, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, the World Robot Olympiad Association and the Azerbaijan Academy of Robotics Engineering (AREA), was held among teenagers and young people aged 8-19. Participants competed in 4 categories (“Robomission”, “Robosports”, “Future innovators”, “Future engineers”).

Within the framework of the cooperation between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and “Focus Optika”, free eye examinations were carried out for the university’s employees and students on September 24, 25, and 26. A total of more than 160 employees and students participated in the examinations conducted by “Focus Optika” doctors. During the examinations, important recommendations were given to protect eye health, and additional questions were answered. In addition, it was announced that AzTU employees and students who underwent the examinations will receive special discounts when purchasing glasses and other related products. It should be noted that AzTU always pays attention to the health of its employees and students. It is planned to continue such projects at the university in the future.

Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs and Innovations of Tashkent State Transport University Said Shaumarov, who is on a visit to our country, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Welcoming the guest, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev expressed his satisfaction with the expansion of cooperation with Tashkent State Transport University in recent years. He particularly drew attention to the importance of increasing joint research between universities and the launch of a joint research center. Vice-Rector of Tashkent State Transport University Said Shaumarov expressed his satisfaction with the joint research conducted by his higher education institution with AzTU in the areas of transport technologies, urban mobility and logistics, and expressed his interest in further expanding these researches in the future.            During the meeting, views were also exchanged on student and teacher exchange between AzTU and Tashkent State Transport University, improving the position of universities in international rankings, implementing dual diploma programs, and other topics.

September 27 - On the occasion of Memorial Day, the staff of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and Turkey-Azerbaijan University (TAU) visited Victory Park. The dear memory of the sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan was honored, and flowers were laid in front of the Victory Monument in the park.

Seljan Karimli, a student of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), and Anabaji Amiraslanova and Omar Mammadzadeh, students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy, participated in the “First Azerbaijan International Investment Forum” held in Baku. The goal of the forum was to develop global cooperation, deepen regional economic integration, introduce favorable opportunities available in the country, as well as present the economic reforms implemented by the Azerbaijani government on an international scale. Startups of AzTU students were also demonstrated in the “Agro Technology” section of the forum. In particular, this pavilion demonstrated automation of irrigation networks, sensor technologies, a single platform for selling plants produced using biotechnological methods, and software for intelligent management of agricultural activities. In addition, the startups presented a project aimed at obtaining environmentally friendly and economically profitable fertilizer through filtration from fish waste collected in water bodies and aquariums, a local GPS tracking system in livestock farming, the production of propanediol molecules in an ecological environment through biological fermentation, as well as a mobile application that allows for the identification of plant diseases, and other innovative ideas.

As part of a series of events held to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Defense Industry (MSN) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a meeting was held on September 26 with the leadership of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), as well as the faculty and student staff of the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology, on the occasion of the start of the new academic year. The meeting, organized in the assembly hall of the university, was attended by Deputy Minister of Defense Industry Hidayat Azimov, Rector of AzTU Vilayat Valiyev, leaders of MSN, faculty and student staff of AzTU. First, the dear memory of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the heroic sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence, and the national anthem was played. Rector of AzTU V. Valiyev, making a speech, congratulated the staff of MSN on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Defense Industry and noted that cooperation between the Ministry and the university would be further expanded in the new academic year. Emphasizing the important role of modern defense technologies in achieving the glorious Victory in the Patriotic War, the rector noted that training highly qualified engineers in this direction is one of the strategic goals of our state. He noted that in this regard, a great responsibility falls on the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology of AzTU. V. Valiyev emphasized that the establishment of SABAH groups at AzTU at the initiative of the Ministry of Defense Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan is an important step in this direction. Then a film dedicated to the activities of the Ministry of Defense Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan was shown. Deputy Minister of Defense Industry H. Azimov, speaking, congratulated the faculty and students of AzTU on the beginning of the new academic year and wished them success. Stating that reforms are being carried out in the direction of modernization of Azerbaijan's defense industry complexes, liberalization of this field and strengthening of personnel potential, the deputy minister noted that training highly qualified specialists is one of the main goals of the Ministry of Defense Industry. Speaking about the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the Ministry of Science and Education and the Ministry of Defense in the field of personnel training for the defense industry, H. Azimov emphasized that the Ministry has created comprehensive conditions for the improvement of educational programs in this field, for students to undergo internships at the institutions of the Ministry of Defense, and for the expansion of scientific and technical cooperation. The Rector emphasized that the 44-day Patriotic War opened a new page in the military history of Azerbaijan, and in the war launched on September 27, 2020 under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, the slogan "Karabakh is Azerbaijan!" gave strength to the Azerbaijani army, and as a result, the 30-year occupation was ended. Despite the fact that 5 years have passed since that day, the modern technologies used in the Patriotic War and the invincibility of our brave army have become the subject of research by military experts around the world. Later, the veteran of the Patriotic War Ramil Shirinov said that the heroism, courage and professionalism of our servicemen, as well as the unity of our people, played a special role in the restoration of our territorial integrity and sovereignty. In his speech, the veteran of the Patriotic War Rashad Aslanov emphasized that patriotism does not consist only of military uniforms, but also in everyone performing their work conscientiously. Then, the veterans of the Patriotic War presented an honorary decree to AzTU student Rashvin Shirelizade for always keeping in mind the issues of patriotism, the families of martyrs and veterans. After the speeches, the play “Half-Remaining Dreams” based on the play “Dreamy Boys” by Yefim Abramov and Leyla Beyim was presented by the AzTU “Paradox” Theater Club. AzTU students dedicated the play to the souls of the martyrs who died in the 44-day Patriotic War. At the end of the performance, People's Artist Valeh Karimov spoke and highly praised the acting skills of AzTU students.

The two-day “THE Eurasian Universities Summit” held with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education, the State Agency for Science and Higher Education and the organization of the international rating agency “Times Higher Education” (THE) has successfully concluded. On the second day of the event, the rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) Vilayat Valiyev spoke at the panel titled “Charting the Future of Eurasian Collaboration” and shared his ideas and suggestions on the future prospects of inter-university cooperation in the Eurasian space. In his speech, the rector emphasized the importance of organizing joint research projects between science and higher education institutions, strengthening international cooperation, and supporting innovation-oriented initiatives. It should be noted that the discussions at the summit were mainly devoted to improving the quality of higher education in the Eurasian region and creating new opportunities for more active integration of universities into the global science and innovation network.

An info session was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) for the Innovative Solutions Marathon organized within the framework of the SiD project of OBA LLC. Samir Gulamzade, manager of the SiD project of OBA LLC, AzTU graduate, made a presentation on the SID (Startup, Innovation and Support) project developed by the OBA market chain to support the development of innovation and startups. He said that the project, being the first complex innovation program in the field of retail, aims to implement domestic and foreign innovative ideas. He noted that the project ensures the development of creative initiatives under the slogan "Your idea is supported" and the program envisages the development of innovative solutions that will optimize the operations of the OBA market chain. The OBA LLC employee then spoke about the Innovative Solutions Marathon, one of the main directions of the project. Samir Gulamzade noted that both the academic and administrative staff of AzTU, as well as students, can participate in the marathon individually or as a team and think of creative and innovative solutions. The marathon includes mentor support, prototype development and final presentations. The final evaluation of projects in the Innovative Solutions Marathon will be based on various criteria (problem formulation, project innovation, economic efficiency, technological feasibility and applicability, team resilience, sustainability and social impact, quality and justification of the presentation). The total prize fund for the Innovative Solutions Marathon is 10,000 AZN. The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session.
