As part of the Azerbaijan Agile Technical Assistance Framework (AZTAF), funded by the European Union and implemented by the World Bank, a seminar aimed at promoting gender balance in technical education and careers in Azerbaijan was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU)
The seminar sought to contribute to Azerbaijan’s economic development by increasing women’s participation in technical fields and reducing gender inequality in the labor market. The event was attended by university faculty members and career advisors.
Key topics discussed during the seminar included the existing gender disparities in technical education and the labor market, recent legislative changes concerning women’s employment, key findings from the World Bank’s report on “Eliminating Barriers to Women’s Employment in Azerbaijan,” and the role of educational institutions in supporting women in technical fields.
Additionally, an online training course titled “Occupational Safety, Health, Violence, and Harassment”—developed jointly by the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development—was presented in both Azerbaijani and English.
