During the admission conducted by the State Examination Center, 2585 people gained the right to study at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) at the bachelor's level in technical and technological, as well as economic and management specialties for the 2024-2025 academic year. Of them, 2072 people gained the right to study through a competitive process, and 513 people gained the student title as a result of non-competitive admission.  Due to the non-competitive admission of international and republican subject olympiads, international competitions and competitions and the list of their winners to higher education institutions, Atayev Fuad Ramil oglu, the winner of the Republican Subject Olympiad in Mathematics, began studying at AzTU without taking entrance exams. In addition, 512 undergraduates benefited from the advantages of the alternative admission form in various specialties. The final stage of the international competition "Finding Innovative and Creative Solutions (FICS)" was held in the city of Islamabad of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, jointly organized by the National Science and Technology University (METU) and the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). FICS is the largest startup competition held annually in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan since 2013. Care is taken to ensure that all projects presented in the competition comply with the Sustainable Development Goals. Professor Vilayat Valiyev, rector of AzTU, speaking at the event, spoke about the role of the competition in creating innovative solutions related to global challenges. The rector pointed out that the participation of the teams of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan universities in the competition is a clear example of the cooperation of the three brotherly countries. It should be noted that the winner of the international competition was the team of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University. The AzTU team won the "most innovative socially oriented idea" nomination.

Araz Pashayev, the chairman of the Republican Committee of the Free Trade Union of Azerbaijan Education Workers, held a meeting with the chairmen of student trade union committees operating in higher education institutions. The meeting was organized in preparation for the conference on "Healthy people and sustainable future", which will be held in "Tahsil" Recreation Center located in Nabran settlement of Khachmaz district in September of this year. Azərbaycan Texniki Universitetinin (AzTU) Elektrotexnika kafedrasının baş müəllimi Əmiraslan Manafov uzunsürən xəstəlikdən sonra vəfat edib. Əmiraslan Manafov 1995-2007-ci illərdə AzTU-nun Elektrik enerji təchizatı və izolyasiya kafedrasında tədris ustası vəzifəsində çalışıb. 2015-ci ildən fəaliyyətini Elektrotexnika kafedrasında baş müəllim vəzifəsində davam etdirib.   AzTU-nun rəhbərliyi və kollektivi Əmiraslan Manafovun vəfatından kədərlənir, ailəsinə və yaxınlarına başsağlığı verir. A cooperation agreement was signed between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and TİS (Technological Isolator Systems) company, which has considerable experience in providing seismic stability in the world. The contract was signed by AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev and TIS Deputy General Director Sadun Tanisher.  The parties will cooperate in the direction of educating specialists, providing training and seminars, and implementing joint projects to ensure the seismic stability of large buildings and facilities.  According to the agreement, TIS company specialists will provide training and seminars at AzTU to people specializing in this field in Azerbaijan, as well as provide support in the direction of designing university facilities.

The "Open Door" day at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) in connection with the Turkey-Azerbaijan University (TAU) ended on August 19. During the "Open Door" days, TAU vice-rector Mehmet Shimshir and representatives of partner universities answered the questions of the applicants. Applicants and their parents had the opportunity to obtain information about TAU's specialties and educational process. It should be noted that Middle East Technical University, Istanbul Technical University and Haccettepe University from Turkey, and Azerbaijan Technical University from Azerbaijan were involved in the teaching process at TAU. In the new academic year, computer engineering, industrial engineering, and food engineering specialties will be taught at the university. All majors will be taught in English.

From the new academic year, AzTU students will present their student tickets in digital form via the "mygov" platform. The use of digital student cards is being launched under the joint initiative of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development, the Ministry of Science and Education, and the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Thus, AzTU students will submit their student card information in digital form through the "mygov" application. From the next academic year, the use of a digital student card is intended for many occasions, such as entering the university and taking exams at the university. For this, the student can access his account in the "mygov" application and get acquainted with the student card, which reflects the student's data, in the "cards" section, where digital documents are presented. They can share the information with other parties by clicking the "Share QR" button on the card or by providing the unique number shown in that section. At the same time, it is also possible to share the student card in PDF document format. The other party will be able to check this information through the "mygov Checker" mobile application or web platform. The student can then view the history of the information he has shared in the "my shared information" section of the "mygov" mobile application. It should be noted that the "mygov" digital government platform is presented by the Agency for Innovation and Digital Development. The platform creates a single communication channel between the state and citizens and incorporates functionalities for a new generation digital government approach.

Fariz Amirov, a professor at the Department of Special Technologies and Equipment of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), participated in a mobility program under the Erasmus+ exchange scheme to conduct scientific research at Brandenburg University of Technology in Germany. During his stay in Germany, he carried out scientific research at the relevant research laboratories of the corresponding departments at Brandenburg University of Technology. Additionally, he held discussions with the university’s staff regarding the potential implementation of future joint scientific research projects.

A summer school was organized at Ganja State University as part of the “Development of Research Potential through the Network of Institutional Repositories (Digital Archives) in Azerbaijan” (DIRNA) project, implemented under the Erasmus+KA2 program, in which Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner. The five-day training session included participation from Khayala Hajiyeva, Director of the AzTU Library and Information Center (LIC); Inam Hasanov, Head of the Information and Communication Technologies Department; Iltifat Ibrahimov, Senior Consultant for Library Process Automation and Digitization; and Yegana Jafarova, Senior Expert in Metadata. Throughout the summer school, AzTU staff participated in a training program presented by partners from Izmir Technical University (Turkey), Jyväskylä University (Finland), and the University of L'Aquila (Italy). The topics covered included Open Access and Open Science principles, legal regulations, Creative Commons licenses, applications of the European Open Science Cloud, and open publishing ethics. The last two days of the training focused on practical assignments. During these sessions, AzTU's Digital Repository, the legal regulatory documents for Open Access and Open Science, and the Repository Resource Submission Form for Authors were demonstrated to the trainers and participants. Additionally, metadata was entered into the repository based on Dublin Core format description rules. It is noteworthy that staff members from AzTU’s LIC have been appointed as National Contact Points (National Open Access Desk) for “OpenAIRE,” an organization focused on Open Science and Open Access under the European Commission. The board members of OpenAIRE officially announced this appointment to the trainers during the training sessions.
