Teachers and students of the Department of Chemical Technology, Recycling and Ecology of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) carried out field research around Boyuk Shor Lake within the framework of a water-related project. The visit was aimed at increasing practical knowledge in the areas of water resource protection, water quality monitoring, and sustainable water management in connection with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation.

During the research, the students collected water samples in the project area implemented by Azersu OJSC and carried out by the Aqualing company. The samples were collected to assess water quality, determine pollution levels, and study the ecological condition of water resources.

The fieldwork provided students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in important areas such as water resource protection, wastewater management, water treatment technologies, and environmental monitoring. These activities are directly related to the key principles of SDG 6, including ensuring safe and accessible water resources, efficient water use, and the protection of water ecosystems.

During the visit, representatives of the company involved in the project showed close interest in the students. They introduced the students to the ongoing works in the area and provided detailed information about the measures being implemented around Boyuk Shor Lake in the fields of water management, wastewater treatment, and environmental protection.
