Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) has begun implementing urban mobility plans in 16 more cities and districts as part of the "Development of an Urban Mobility Plan."

On July 15-16, AzTU signed agreements with the executive authorities of the Balakan, Zaqatala, Oghuz, Gabala, and Gakh regions.

During meetings attended by AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev, the Heads of Executive Authorities of Balakan (Islam Rzayev), Zaqatala (Mubariz Ahmadzada), Oghuz (Eyvaz Gurbanov), Gabala (Sabuhi Abdullayev), and Gakh (Musa Shakiliyev), the importance of the mobility plan was discussed. The project is expected to play a significant role in the sustainable development of these regions, as well as in the planned design and implementation of road networks. The mobility plan focuses on creating accessible, affordable, and sustainable transport systems, with special attention to the needs of vulnerable groups, including women, children, people with disabilities, and the elderly. It aims to improve road safety through the expansion of public transport.

The project is also seen as a prime example of the state-university-industry partnership. The "Urban Mobility Plan Development" consultancy service will be the first project executed between AzTU and the aforementioned regional executive authorities.

In addition to the representatives from the regional authorities, the meetings were attended by Aynura Ismayılova, Director of the Lifelong Learning School, Fuad Dashdemirov, Director of the Institute of Logistics and Transportation, Osman Gunduz, Coordinator of AzTU’s Digital Transformation Advisory Board and Chairman of the University’s Public Council, and Sevinj Isgandarova, Head of the Public Relations Department.
