An info session on "Artificial intelligence technologies and Big Data analytics in digital health systems" was held at AzTU

An infosession on "Artificial intelligence technologies and Big Data analytics in digital health systems" was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) organized by the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. Speaking at the infosession, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev spoke about the scientific research conducted by the Institute of Biomedical Engineering over the past year in the direction of applying artificial intelligence in medicine. The Rector said that cooperation between the institute and medical institutions is planned in the near future. It was also emphasized that this cooperation will create useful opportunities for solving existing problems in this area.

Chairman of the German-Azerbaijani Radiological and Neuroradiological Society, Head of the Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Neuroradiology Clinic in Troisdorf, Germany, Fellow of the University of Cologne and Director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of AzTU, Professor Nuran Abdullayev, spoke about the work done by the institute he leads over the past year. He noted that the institute has achieved a number of firsts in Azerbaijan during this period. The Institute of Biomedical Engineering is the first institute in the country where joint scientific research is carried out in the field of engineering and medicine. Scientific research conducted at the institute has been published in international scientific journals. Nuran Abdullayev also spoke about the contribution of artificial intelligence to solving many issues in diagnostics and treatment. He said that a proposal plan for the institute's field of activity for all institutions in Azerbaijan is already ready and the institute is open to all cooperation in this direction.

Director of the Republican Clinical Hospital, Honored Physician, Spine Surgeon, Orthopedic Traumatologist, Sports Medicine Specialist, Doctor of Philosophy Elviz Gasimov called the establishment of strategic cooperation between AzTU and relevant state institutions on artificial intelligence-based biomedical solutions a commendable step. He said that he hopes that the AzTU Institute of Biomedical Engineering will also contribute to the process of digitalization of the healthcare system.

Then, employees of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering Sevinj Aliyeva and Khalid Nazarov made a detailed presentation about the institute's scientific research.
