A seminar on “Managing Environmental Risks for a Sustainable and Stable Future” was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) on the occasion of World Civil Defense Day. AzTU Vice-Rector Fariz Mustafayev emphasized that ensuring environmental safety is an important component of the national security strategy. He spoke about the importance of ensuring sustainable development, emergency preparedness and risk management.
Then, Vidadi Mustafayev, Head of the Department of Occupational Safety and Technical Safety, and Afar Ibrahimov, Leading Engineer for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of the Department, delivered speeches. During the speeches, detailed information was provided on global environmental problems, anthropogenic impacts, and mechanisms for assessing and managing environmental risks. It was noted that the correct assessment of environmental risks, the implementation of early warning systems and effective management mechanisms play an important role in the formation of a safe, sustainable and stable society.
The speeches also emphasized that environmental protection, strengthening public safety, promoting the principles of accountability, transparency and responsible decision-making serve to increase institutional stability and are one of the important factors in reducing environmental risks.
At the end of the event, a video clip on the topic was shown and the participants' questions were answered. The importance of joint action towards reducing environmental risks, emergency resilience and sustainable development was once again highlighted within the framework of the seminar.
