The founding meeting of the AzTU alumni association was held

The founding meeting of the Alumni Association was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) organized by the Career and Employment Center.

The inaugural meeting was attended by MPs Zahid Oruj and Anar Mammadov, as well as veteran alumni consultant-professor Rahim Shukurov, as well as faculty members who are alumni of the university and about 300 AzTU graduates working in various enterprises, organizations and institutions.

First, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyred graduates of AzTU who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev greeted all AzTU graduates, honorary guests of the event, faculty, and students participating in the meeting and noted that the founding meeting of the AzTU Alumni Association was one of the most prestigious and memorable days in the history of the university. The Rector said that the Alumni Association was established to create a deep bridge between AzTU graduates and the university, to transform these relations into more effective activities for the world of work, science, and education, to make serious contributions to the process of training highly qualified personnel for the country's industry together and with more effective steps, as well as to increase the prestige of AzTU at the international level.

One of the honorary graduates of AzTU, currently a deputy of the national assembly, Chairman of the Board of the Center for Social Research, Zahid Oruj, first recalled his student years, compared the opportunities of AzTU in the past and present, and stated that current students are more fortunate. He wished that AzTU graduates who have contributed to the country's industry would be active in the regions, as well as in Karabakh and East Zangezur, and that new types of engineering schools would be established. The deputy emphasized that he believes in the future success of AzTU graduates in this direction.

Another honorary graduate of AzTU, Anar Mammadov, currently a member of the national assembly, wished success to the university's Alumni Association and thanked the AzTU leadership for the trust and invitation. He said that he would do his best to help the AzTU Alumni Association in its activities.

At the meeting, one of the first graduates of AzTU, a Presidential scholarship holder, consultant-professor Rahim Shukurov, who graduated from the university 72 years ago and worked for many years in the academic staff of the university, reviewed the historical development of the university in his speech. Rahim Shukurov spoke about the path the university has taken from the past to the present, about the specialists, scientists, statesmen and public figures trained here in different years, and about the role of AzTU in the development of our republic. He said that from the Soviet era to the present, AzTU graduates have been leading figures in the country's industry. The importance of the education provided by AzTU in developing various sectors of industry and meeting the needs of the country's engineering potential was especially emphasized.

AzTU Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations Narmin Rzayeva made a presentation on the action plan of the Alumni Association.

She stated that the main goal is to strengthen ties between the university and alumni, develop career and mentoring programs, organize alumni involvement in continuing education and courses, and create a flexible platform to ensure alumni support for the university. Then, the vice-rector provided detailed information to the event participants about the association's values, goals, surveys conducted with alumni, gaps, suggestions, and successful alumni associations of global universities.

AzTU Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Subhan Namazov shared his views on the different content of AzTU, including technical universities, and the greater opportunities for the development of our country. Subhan Namazov shared his views on the activities of the initiative group for the establishment of the AzTU Alumni Association and his belief that the work of the Association will be successful for AzTU with the meeting participants. The Vice-Rector said that the AzTU Alumni Association will consist of the Board of Directors, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Coordinating Committee and members. Subhan Namazov expressed his belief that by connecting graduates with the university and the labor market, a modern platform will be formed in accordance with the requirements of the current era.

At the founding meeting, AzTU Alumni unanimously supported the election of MP and honorary graduate of the university, Anar Mammadov, as Chairman of the AzTU Alumni Association.
