In order to implement the tasks set at the 13th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan and to expand relations in the field of science and higher education, the First Rectors' Forum was held in Andijan on May 28-29 on the theme "Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan: Priority Directions in the Development of Cooperation in Higher Education".

The event was organized within the framework of the visit of the delegation led by Deputy Minister of Science and Education Idris Isayev to Uzbekistan. The forum was attended by heads of higher education institutions of both countries.

Speaking at the opening of the forum, First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of Uzbekistan Shahrukh Daliyev and Deputy Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Idris Isayev emphasized the increasing development of cooperation in the field of science and higher education between the two countries, and stated that the forum would contribute to the expansion of inter-university partnerships and the promotion of joint projects.

During the sessions, topics such as the establishment of dual diploma programs, student and faculty exchange, joint scientific research, and progress in international rankings were discussed.

The forum was addressed by the rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Vilayat Valiyev, with a wide-ranging presentation.

Within the framework of the forum, cooperation documents were signed between AzTU and leading higher education institutions of Uzbekistan, and agreements were reached that laid the foundation for new projects.
