The next meeting of the Skills Development Working Group within the regional technical assistance project "Strengthening the Development of Green Skills"— part of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB)—was held in Baku, with the participation of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as a project partner.

The event was jointly organized by the Asian Development Bank, the ministries of science and education of the CAREC region countries, and partners of higher education institutions.

The main objective of the project is to establish an institutional framework for regional cooperation in the development of green skills in CAREC countries. The project also aims to raise awareness and build capacity among educational institutions, as well as public and private sector stakeholders, in areas, for instance, climate-smart agriculture, just transition in industry, green skills, and climate change adaptation.

The meeting brought together representatives from the ministries of science and education, as well as higher education institutions of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Mongolia, and Pakistan. Throughout the event, a Memorandum of Understanding on "Strengthening Regional Cooperation in Skills Development among CAREC Countries" was signed, and the next goals to be implemented under the project were presented too.

AzTU was represented at the event by Vice-Rector for International Relations Fariz Mammadov and Head of the International Project Management Unit, Matanat Pashayeva.
