Strategic Importance of Engineering Education for the Defense Industry Discussed at AzTU
A meeting between students and Falah Guliyev, Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering and General Director of the “Cihaz” Production Association, was held at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), organized by the university’s Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology.
The meeting, titled “The Strategic Importance of Engineering Education in the Defense Industry,” opened with a speech by Subhan Namazov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of AzTU. He noted that cooperation between the university and the Ministry of Defense Industry plays an important role in training engineering personnel. He emphasized the need to align the curriculum with industry requirements and to develop students’ practical skills.
Falah Guliyev then spoke about the role of the defense industry in global economic and political processes, growing international interest in defense industry products manufactured in Azerbaijan, and issues related to the organization of production processes and logistics.
He stated that highly qualified engineers play a key role in developing domestic products, improving existing technologies, and expanding production capacity. He observed that the ability of engineers to translate their knowledge and skills into concrete technical solutions and useful products is of particular importance for the development of the domestic industry.
Guliyev encouraged students to develop their own ideas, study the real needs of industry, and devise engineering solutions that address those needs. He noted that mastering the process of turning an idea into a project, and a project into a finished product, is an essential component of future specialists’ professional training.
In his address, Guliyev also underlined the role of the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology, established at AzTU by decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, in training engineering personnel for the defense industry.
During the meeting, students’ questions were answered, and an exchange of views took place on the defense industry, engineering practice, and future career opportunities.
Yadullah Babayev, Dean of the Faculty, thanked Falah Guliyev for his support of the faculty and for sharing his experience with students.
At the conclusion of the event, a commemorative plaque was presented to Falah Guliyev on behalf of the AzTU Rector in recognition of his contributions to the development of university–industry cooperation.
