An event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance was held at AzTU
An event dedicated to September 27 – Remembrance Day was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).
First, the "Mother's Cry" (*Ana Harayı*) monument located in the university courtyard was visited.
The event began with a minute of silence to honor the cherished memory of the sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, followed by the playing of the National Anthem.
Habib Mirzayev, Head of the Department of Humanities at AzTU, stated that in accordance with the Order of the President and Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev dated December 2, 2020, September 27—the day the Patriotic War began—is observed as Remembrance Day.
Analyzing the course of the 44-day Patriotic War in chronological order, Habib Mirzayev spoke about the path that led Azerbaijan to its historic Victory. He noted that the foundation of this Glorious Victory rests on the will of the President and Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the strength of the army, and the unity between the people and the government.
During the speeches, it was also emphasized that the desire of AzTU students to voluntarily participate in combat operations during the 44-day war served as a testament to their high spirit of patriotism. It was reported that 36 students and alumni of AzTU attained the peak of martyrdom during the 44-day Patriotic War.
The event also highlighted the historical significance of the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, the large-scale reconstruction efforts underway in the liberated territories, and the return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands.
Habib Mirzayev emphasized the importance of not forgetting the tragedies inflicted upon the people, keeping the cherished memory of the martyrs alive, and passing on historical events to future generations.
