An event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Azerbaijan Technical University was held

An event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) was held. First, flowers were laid in front of the bust of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the lobby of the university.

The event commemorated the dear memory of the sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our lands with a minute of silence. The National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played.

In his opening speech, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev welcomed the guests and reviewed the 75-year history of the university. He noted that the foundation of technical education in Azerbaijan was first laid by the Baku City Duma on November 10, 1887. On November 14, 1920, by the decree of the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Revolutionary Committee Nariman Narimanov, the Baku Polytechnic Institute was established on the basis of the Baku Polytechnic, which had departments of Oil Industry, Electromechanics and Architecture and Construction. Since 1923, the Baku Polytechnic Institute has been called the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute. The current AzTU was re-established in November 1950 in Baku under the name of Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute (AzPI) with faculties of Mechanics, Construction, Railways and Hydromelioration.

The rector said that for 75 years, AzTU has not only been training engineers, this higher education institution has also been forming patriotic personalities. AzTU is always proud of the successes of its students and graduates. The close participation of AzTU students and graduates in achieving the glorious Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War was an indicator of their high patriotic spirit.

Vilayat Valiyev said that the goal of AzTU, which moves forward with the slogan "Create, develop, apply", is to establish a research and entrepreneurial university with an innovative-enterprising academic, graduate and student staff that teaches the development of industry and the solution of issues facing the technological future, and to raise the level of trained engineering personnel to international standards.

Expressing his congratulations on the 75th anniversary of AzTU, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov spoke about the role of universities in the formation of personality. Looking at world experience in this direction, Firudin Gurbanov approached professionalism from a different context. He noted that professionalism is also the ability to make the right decision in a crisis situation. Universities also form personalities with this ability. In this sense, the role of universities is of great importance in terms of the formation of people. The Deputy Minister also noted the successful activities of AzTU graduates in various fields of the country. He emphasized that AzTU, which is currently one of the leading higher education institutions in the country, is one of the universities where innovations are applied at the level of modern standards.

Honorary graduate of AzTU, statesman, diplomat, historian-scientist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former ambassador Hasan Hasanov congratulated the anniversary of the higher education institution he studied at and spoke about his memories from his university years. Stating that the engineering profession is one of the leading professions in the world, Hasan Hasanov advised students to deeply master the secrets of their specialty. He noted that engineering primarily forms the ability to think in a person. Hasan Hasanov emphasized that AzTU is at the center of his career successes and that he is always grateful to the teaching staff of this university.

Honorary graduate of AzTU, Deputy Head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Security, Major General Allahveren Ismayilov also extended his congratulations on the 75th anniversary of AzTU. Allahveren Ismayilov shared his memories of his student years and spoke about the significant role of the university in its formation.

Honorary graduate of AzTU, Vice-President of ANAS, Director General of the Institute of Information Technologies, Academician Rasim Alguliyev spoke about the successes achieved by the university over the past 75 years. The academician said that engineering is a creative profession. The application of knowledge taught in the world and its use in solving real problems are now among the main issues. It is the combination of innovation, creativity and practical skills that shape the world today. Rasim Aliguliyev also drew attention to the successes of the engineering personnel trained by AzTU in his speech. The academician also shared his most interesting memories from his years of study at the university with the participants of the event.

Later, Advisor to the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, Jala Ahmadova, who spoke, congratulated AzTU on its 75th anniversary. She noted that the ministry and the university jointly implement various projects, and that these projects make positive contributions to the personal development of students.

At the event, Professor Ehtiyat Ibragimova of Fergana State University of Uzbekistan read the text of the congratulatory letter addressed by Rector Bahodirjon Shermuhammadov on the anniversary of AzTU.

Vice-Rector of Yıldız Technical University of Turkey, Huseyin Yılmaz, also congratulated AzTU on its anniversary and wished success in the activities of the university.

Then, according to the order of the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, awards were presented to AzTU teachers who were awarded the “Advanced Education Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan” badge and an honorary diploma.

The anniversary event continued with a performance by the Karabakh University “Cadenza” orchestra.
