On October 1, an innovation session titled “Artificial Intelligence and Secure Digital Systems: Data Management and Cyber Resilience” was held at the Baku Expo Center as part of ADEX 2026, the 6th Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition.

The session was moderated by Associate Professor Rahid Alekberli, Director of the Institute of Cybersecurity and Defense Technologies at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The session brought together Murad Balayev, Head of the Computer Incidents Response Center of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Security; Tural Naghiyev, Project Manager at the Information Technology and Data Management Center of the Ministry of Economy; Cavid Abbasli, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of AzTU; Hamid Asgarov, Head of the Artificial Intelligence Division of the GIS Center at Azercosmos; Alper Soysal, Senior Director for Partner Network Management in the EUROMED region; and Gabil Gasimov, Director of MegaSec LLC.

The discussions focused on current issues related to artificial intelligence governance, data management, cybersecurity, and the resilience of secure digital systems.

Key topics discussed during the session included national-level AI-based monitoring systems and the role of the National CERT; balancing real-time decision-making with data protection; the application of medical AI standards to critical infrastructure; satellite imagery super-resolution capabilities; Digital Twin data management and intellectual property protection; as well as the development of cybersecurity expertise and the creation of AI models in the Azerbaijani language.

The discussions also highlighted the growing importance of localizing AI governance, linking cyber resilience with business continuity, and ensuring data sovereignty across digital supply chains.

In addition, the importance of applying technological transformation and emerging technology trends through cooperation with universities, as well as integrating successful practices into the innovation ecosystem, was emphasized.

The session provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on national AI governance, cyber defense, and data sovereignty.”
