A panel discussion titled “Modern Challenges: Radio-Electronic Warfare and Communications Systems Security” was held on October 2 at the Baku Expo Center as part of ADEX 2026, the 6th Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition.

The panel was moderated by Habibulla Beydullayev, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Defence Systems and Technological Integration of the Faculty of Special Equipment and Technology at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).

The panel featured Mukhtar Azizullayev, Researcher at the National Aerospace Agency; Elkhan Priyev, Representative of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Security; Gunay Feyziyeva, Head of the Technical Solutions Division at Azercosmos; and Volkan Karvar, Director of Communications and Radio-Electronic Warfare Programs at ASELSAN.

The discussions focused on emerging threats in radio-electronic warfare, secure terrestrial communications, the integration of terrestrial and satellite communication systems, artificial intelligence, software-defined radio (SDR) technologies, and prospects for closer cooperation between academia and industry.

The speakers emphasized the importance of developing next-generation radio-electronic warfare systems based on flexible and adaptive technologies. They also highlighted the critical role of software in ensuring system security and the need to enhance the resilience of communications systems against cyber, electromagnetic, and physical threats.

Particular attention was given to the integration of terrestrial and satellite communications within a unified communications architecture. The participants exchanged views on real-time monitoring of communication channels, automated failover mechanisms, intelligent routing, and the integration of different networks into a unified management platform.

The panel concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which the participants addressed questions from the audience.
