Visa & Migration
All international students enrolling at AzTU must obtain the appropriate student visa before entering Azerbaijan. The International Admissions Office provides guidance and support throughout the entire visa and migration process.
Student Visa
Foreign nationals accepted to study at AzTU must apply for a student visa at the Azerbaijani embassy or consulate in their home country. AzTU will issue an official invitation letter upon confirmation of admission, which is required for the visa application.
Visa-Free Countries
Citizens of certain countries may enter Azerbaijan without a visa for short stays. However, a student visa or residence permit is still required for those enrolling in a degree programme. Please check the current list of visa-free agreements on the official migration authority website.
ASAN Visa (e-Visa)
Citizens of many countries can apply for an Azerbaijani e-Visa through the ASAN Visa portal prior to arrival. The e-Visa is available for tourism and short visits; degree-seeking students must obtain a formal student visa from an Azerbaijani diplomatic mission.
Visa Extension
Students whose programmes extend beyond the initial visa validity must apply for a visa extension through the State Migration Service. The International Office assists students in preparing the required documentation for extension applications.
AzTU's International Admissions Office provides personalised guidance on visa requirements, invitation letters, and migration procedures. We recommend contacting our office well in advance of your planned arrival date.
Migration Registration
All foreign nationals residing in Azerbaijan for more than 15 days are required to register with the State Migration Service. AzTU assists international students in completing this registration within the required timeframe.
Registration Methods
- Online registration via the State Migration Service e-portal
- In-person registration at the nearest State Migration Service branch
- Registration through AzTU's International Admissions Office (assisted service)
Students must update their registration if they change their place of residence during their stay in Azerbaijan.
Temporary Residence Permit
International students enrolled in a programme lasting more than one year may apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP), which simplifies annual re-registration requirements and provides greater legal certainty during the period of study.
Documents Required for TRP
The Temporary Residence Permit is typically issued for one year and must be renewed annually. AzTU's International Office will notify you in advance of your renewal deadline.
