Academic and Cultural Program
Students of engineering studies will be matched with national students to work in team settings based on their ideas and projects, and they will be provided space to work on their ideas with the academic mentor`s support and guidance to bring those ideas to products at the Cezari Lab (please see below for more detailed information) or one of our virtual labs. This offer is open to students in the field of mechanical engineering, material science/metallurgy, process automation, electrical engineering, industrial information technologies and related subjects. Thus, it is highly encouraged to bring your own project idea to the summer school and describe it in the motivation letter. The Azerbaijani students you will be matched with will study in the same field to make sure both sides will benefit as much as possible professionally and interculturally. During short-time internships you will also work in small bicultural teams to deepen the experience. To prepare and plan the project one or two online-meetings with the mentor will be hold before the summer schools starts.
Student teams will be mainly German-Azerbaijani, although some students from AzTU’s European partner universities may participate. Working language will be English.
Workshops will be delivered by professionals of well-known companies such as Siemens, BP, and International Bank of Azerbaijan, as well as lecturers from the AzTU Business School, will serve to deepen soft skills in students, see trends of the labour market today, see opportunities that would lead them to international labour markets in future. The following topics will be covered in the Summer school:
- entrepreneurship skills for engineers,
- decision-making skills and tools,
- digital marketing for engineers,
- digitalization in industrial organizations,
- work in crisis situations and work in an intercultural setting.
Industrial Experience
Participants will have an short internship at the Sumgait Technological Park (one of the biggest industrial parks) and at Baku Steel Company, see the production process there and get practical knowledge on their opportunities and challenges and to obtain a short practical experience working at industrial settings. Moreover, a tour of a hybrid power plant and the largest solar power plant of South Caucasus will also provide a glimpse into the industrial future beyond CO2-free energy production and efforts how to decarbonize industrial facilities in the near future.
Field trips and company visits:
Sumgait Technological Park
Baku Steel Company
Gobustan Hybrid Renewable Energy Plant
230 MW Garadagh Solar Power Plant
Cultural Program
The summer school is rich with cultural programs which will provide guided tours to Baku`s old town, historical places and the cultural landscape of Gobustan with its rock paintings (both places are UNESCO World Heritage Sites), sites of industrial history will also be visited. Natural phenomena such as mud volcanoes and the Shahdili Scenic nature in the Caspian Sea are also included in the program. Participants of the summer school will be able to taste Azerbaijani cuisine, delights of its kitchen, and get acknowledged with its tea service culture and national music. Last but not least, the summer school offers the opportunity to learn more about each other’s culture by working, talking and chilling with your team mates.

Cezari Lab: From Ideas to Products
Participants of the summer school will gain a unique opportunity to work on their own ideas and experience the whole process of transforming their own ideas into valuable products. It will help them to acquire practical knowledge, master and deploy multidisciplinary knowledge and skills necessary for engineers today. Students will spend some time in a 3D laboratory (or one of our virtual labs, depending on the study project) with the guidance of mentors to design, develop and deploy their own project..
“Cezeri Lab” 3D printing laboratory: “Cezeri Lab” 3D printing laboratory is one of the modern laboratories suitable for improving knowledge and skills. The Following equipment is particularly notable: CNC Pyroprinter equipment, Mini laser CNC equipment, pen plotter CNC equipment, artificial intelligence-based “frigate” robot for environmental cleanliness of water, and device for the convenience of visually and speech impaired people, smart tank system, server room IOT system.
Awards: Among others, a head-controlled wheelchair for people with mobility disabilities was
made in our laboratory and was awarded 3rd place among 56 countries at the “World Robot
Olympiad” held in Dortmund, Germany.
The laboratory is equipped with:
1) CNC laser cutting equipment: This is a device that cuts or scratches the shapes installed on
the computer with a laser beam.
2) CNC Routers: They are used for engraving, shaping, relief operations with many composite
materials, including wood, MDF, plexiglass and light metals.
3) 3D printers: These are a manufacturing technology that can produce 3D objects using quality
materials called filaments.
4) Lathe: Turning is a type of technological operation applied in the preparation of metals and
artificial materials by cutting.
5) Desktop drilling machine: One of the machines often used in small diameter drilling
operations is the desktop drilling machine. In this type of machine, the area where the drilling
spindle is located and the work table can be turned in any position by turning on the axis of the
column.
