A delegation led by Vilayat Valiyev, Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), visited the Ganja Production Complex of Azeraluminium LLC.<\/span><\/p>\n

The delegation included Subhan Namazov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation; Murat Ataman, Head of the Technology Transfer Office; Associate Professor Ali Ibrahimov; and Mustafa G\u00fcden, AzTU guest research professor and professor at Izmir Institute of Technology in T\u00fcrkiye.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the visit, the delegation reviewed the results of four years of intensive joint research conducted by a research team comprising scientists from AzTU and Azeraluminium LLC. They also participated in further tests at a semi-industrial facility equipped with a reactor with a capacity of five tonnes.<\/span><\/p>\n

The research team announced that the results of the first three tests, conducted at the semi-industrial facility over the previous month, had been successfully confirmed. Ali Ibrahimov, an AzTU associate professor and member of the research team, then delivered a presentation outlining the successful results. He noted that the findings provide a basis for applying the proposed new method in industry, although further research and refinement are still required.<\/span><\/p>\n

AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev highlighted the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 1 April 2026, \u201cOn Certain Measures to Ensure the Development of the Mining (Metal Ores) and Metallurgical Industries in the Republic of Azerbaijan,\u201d and thanked the research team. He emphasized that, after four years of research, the scientists are close to achieving industrial application, describing this as a significant scientific and technological achievement with the potential to deliver substantial economic benefits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Representatives of Azeraluminium LLC stressed the need to establish a new roadmap to maximize the significance of the scientific and technological findings, industrial trials, and planned future work. They also noted that the technology could enable the production of by-products such as potash fertilizer, gypsum, and sulfuric acid.<\/span><\/p>\n

The participants highlighted the feasibility of producing aluminium from alunite ore extracted from the Z\u0259ylik alunite mine in Dashkasan, using a modern, integrated processing technology that meets current requirements without the need for prior ore beneficiation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on continuing the research and cooperation and further strengthening university\u2013industry collaboration in the metallurgical sector.<\/span><\/p>\n
