The next meeting of the management team within the framework of the UniClad project was held in Poland
As part of the European Union’s “Erasmus+ KA2” program, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) participated in the UniClaD project, titled “Enhancing the Capacity of Universities to Foster Innovation and Sustainability through Cluster Development and Participation.” The latest meeting of the project’s management team was held at the Poznań University of Life Sciences (PULS) in Poland. AzTU was represented by the project coordinator, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations, Subhan Namazov, and the Head of the Research and Development Department, Bakhtiyar Badalov. During the meeting, reports on the progress of the project were presented by responsible representatives, followed by discussions on challenges encountered and upcoming tasks. Decisions were made regarding training courses to be held at partner universities across Europe. AzTU TGT chairman was awarded the “TGT Chairman of the Year” award
The Student Youth Organizations Forum was held by the Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations Union (ATGTI) on the occasion of February 2 – Azerbaijan Youth Day. During the forum, Ruslan Ganbarov, Chairman of the Student Youth Organization (TGO) of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), was awarded the title of “Student Youth Organization Chairman of the Year” for his active participation in organizing and carrying out socially significant volunteer activities in the country as part of the 2023 “Heydar Aliyev Year.” In addition, the AzTU TGO’s AzTUMUN club was recognized as the “Student Club of the Year,” and Nigar Aliyeva, the Secretary-General of AzTU TGO, was awarded the title of “Student Youth Organization Representative of the Year.”
AzTU begins cooperation with Türkiye’s Kırıkkale University
An online meeting was held with the participation of Professor Vilayet Valiyev, Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), and Professor Ersan Aslan, Rector of Kırıkkale University in Turkey. Representatives from both universities also attended the meeting. During the meeting, both rectors provided detailed information about the universities they lead. The potential areas of cooperation between the two universities were discussed, including joint research opportunities in various industrial sectors, collaborative publication of academic articles, exploring suitable fields for starting a dual degree program, facilitating faculty and student exchanges, and other related matters. Following the discussions, an agreement was reached to sign a cooperation contract between the two universities in the near future.
An event dedicated to Azerbaijan Youth Day was held at AzTU on February 2
On February 2, a special event dedicated to Azerbaijan Youth Day was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), organized by the University’s Trade Union Committee (TUC) and the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC). The event began with a moment of silence in honor of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. The National Anthem of Azerbaijan was then played. Chairman of the AzTU TUC, Elvin Bakhtiyarli, extended his congratulations on the occasion of Youth Day. He highlighted the youth policies implemented in Azerbaijan and the attention and support given to young people. Bakhtiyarli emphasized that various events and interactive competitions are held throughout the year at AzTU to enhance the knowledge, skills, and innovative ideas of students and young faculty members. Six students of AzTU will study abroad within the framework of “Erasmus+”
Six students from Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) will study abroad during the spring semester of the 2023/2024 academic year as part of the “Erasmus+ KA171” exchange program. The students include Nuhin Khalilov, a second-year student from the Faculty of Information and Telecommunications Technologies, who will study at Ankara University; Nurtakin Guliyeva and Leyla Shafiyeva, third-year students from the Faculty of Information and Telecommunications Technologies and SABAH groups, who will study at Cluj-Napoca Technical University in Romania; Nurlan Narimanov and Nabat Yusifli, third-year students from the Faculty of Economics and Management, who will study at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies in Romania; and Mirali Alili, a second-year student from the same faculty, who will study at Powislanski University in Poland. AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev met with the students, wishing them success in their studies and future endeavors.
The first report conference was held within the ENGAGE project
The first progress conference of the “Strengthening the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem in Azerbaijani Higher Education Institutions” (ENGAGE) project, in which Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner, was held. The conference brought together representatives from partner universities in Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Estonia, Poland, and over 20 Azerbaijani higher education institutions. An information session on “TEKNOFEST-2024” was held at AzTU
A session regarding “TEKNOFEST-2024” was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). During the session, AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev discussed the significance of the TEKNOFEST – Aerospace and Technology Festival, which has been held annually since 2018. He emphasized that the festival is an important platform for young researchers and students to showcase their skills. The festival, organized by the “Turkey Technology Team” – T3 Foundation, led by Selcuk Bayraktar, the technological leader of “Baykar” and Turkey’s Ministry of Industry and Technology, was hosted by Azerbaijan in 2022. Rector Valiyev stated that this not only demonstrated the strong brotherhood and friendship between Azerbaijan and Turkey but also showed the expanding scope of TEKNOFEST. The student of AzTU Sports Club became the champion of Azerbaijan in boxing
Gular Huseynova, a student from the Sports Club of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), has become the Azerbaijani champion in boxing. She won the national title in the 44 kg weight category at the country championship organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Boxing Federation. Gular dominated all her matches, defeating her opponents with full superiority and was awarded the title of national champion. AzTU’s rector, Vilayat Valiyev, met with Gular Huseynova and her coach, Iskander Rizayev, an employee of AzTU’s Sports Club, to congratulate them on the victory.

The next management meeting of the “Erasmus+” program project “Improving Internal Quality Assurance in Teaching, Training, and Assessment Processes at Higher Education Institutions in Azerbaijan and Russia” (IQAinAR) was held in Baku. The meeting took place at Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, with representatives from the project’s partner universities, including Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). Representatives from the leading universities of the “Erasmus+” program project titled “Improving Internal Quality Assurance in Teaching, Training, and Assessment Processes at Higher Education Institutions in Azerbaijan and Russia” (IQAinAR), including Spain’s San Antonio Catholic University and the Netherlands’ Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as part of their trip to Azerbaijan. AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev welcomed the guests and provided detailed information about the work being carried out at the university. He emphasized the significance of “Erasmus+” projects in the internationalization of higher education institutions and expressed confidence that the project would contribute to strengthening quality assurance in Azerbaijani higher education institutions. Wittenborg University President, Meqi Fang, shared insights about her university and discussed the role of international, research-focused projects in strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions. During the meeting, discussions were held about expanding cooperation between AzTU and foreign universities.
