Team Mentored by AzTU Teacher Wins National Championship at the International Robot Olympiad
The Azerbaijan National Championship of the “Fibonacci” International Robot Olympiad was held, bringing together over 1,000 students from 36 educational institutions across the country. Young engineers competed for victory in 21 different categories, showcasing their skills in robotics and innovation. In addition to Azerbaijan, participants from Turkey and Kazakhstan also took part in this year’s competition. A team mentored by Turkana Gahramanli, a faculty member in the Department of Engineering Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), achieved outstanding success, securing 1st place in four categories and 2nd place in one category. Notably, the teams mentored by Turkana Gahramanli included Yusif Aliyev, a first-year Computer Science student at AzTU, and Khumara Gahramanli, a doctoral student specializing in Systematic Analysis, Management, and Information Processing. The winning teams have earned the opportunity to represent Azerbaijan at the Fibonacci International Robot Olympiad, which will take place in Antalya, Turkey, in April.
Representatives of Indian University Visit AzTU
A delegation from O.P. Jindal Global University, India, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) to explore potential collaboration opportunities. New Cooperation Opportunities Discussed Between AzTU and AzMI
A meeting was held to strengthen cooperation between the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute (AzMI) and Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). During the meeting, participants were briefed on AzMI’s areas of activity, calibration and verification capabilities, and ongoing laboratory improvements. Proposals were made to facilitate internships for AzTU students at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels at AzMI, as well as to encourage them to publish their scientific articles in AzTU’s scientific journal. Additionally, discussions focused on potential collaborations, including the creation of a joint scientific journal, the co-organization of scientific conferences, and the development of joint training programs. Views were also exchanged on training initiatives and seminars conducted as part of the “AzMI Academy” project. After the meeting, attendees toured AzMI’s laboratories, where they inspected facilities for measuring the kinematic viscosity of liquids, mass, volume, medicine, resistance, time and frequency, distribution parameters, and radio frequency power measurements.
Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between AzTU and Three Universities in Kazakhstan
On March 4, a roundtable discussion titled “Expanding Cooperation in Higher Education Between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan” was held at ADA University. The event was attended by Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, as well as rectors from leading universities in both countries. A delegation led by Professor Daniel Valer Breaz, Rector of “December 1, 1918” University of Alba Iulia, Romania, visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) as part of their trip to Azerbaijan. The delegation met with Professor Nurali Yusifbeyli, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at AzTU, along with other university representatives. AzTU Held an Event Dedicated to World Civil Defense Day
AzTU organized an event dedicated to World Civil Defense Day under the theme “Civil Defense: A Guarantee of Population Safety.” Speaking at the event, Vice-Rector for Finance and Economic Affairs Rashad Aliyev emphasized that the purpose of this day is to raise awareness of population protection and safety and recognize the efforts and dedication of civil defense workers. Following this, Vidadi Mustafayev, Head of the Department of Labor Protection and Technical Safety, provided detailed insights into the history of World Civil Defense Day and the measures implemented in Azerbaijan in civil defense. It should be noted that this day, established by the International Civil Defense Organization, is celebrated annually as a major humanitarian event. Azerbaijan became a member of this influential international organization in 1993.

AzTU held event dedicated to memory of martyr student Elshad Aliyev
Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) held a memorial event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of martyred student Elshad Aliyev. The event was attended by Elshad Aliyev’s family members, classmates, families of the martyrs, war veterans, deputies of the Milli Majlis, representatives of the Nizami District Executive Power, AzTU faculty and students. First, the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence, then the National Anthem was played.
