As part of the final international conference of the “Enhancing Universities’ Capacities in Clusters Development and Participation Through Innovation and Sustainability Principles” project (UniClaD), conducted under the European Union’s ERASMUS+ KA2 program, a meeting was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The meeting convened AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev, Rector of Poltava State Agrarian University of Ukraine, Oleksandr Galych, and Rector of Comrat State University of Moldova, Sergey Zaharia. During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between AzTU and the aforementioned universities, establishing a framework for collaboration in the fields of education and research.

At Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), the final international conference on the project “Increasing the capacity of universities to initiate and participate in the development of clusters with the principles of innovation and sustainability” (UniClaD), which was implemented within the framework of the European Union’s “ERASMUS+ KA2” program, began its work. The conference is held with the participation of more than 20 higher education and industrial institutions representing Italy, Spain, Poland, Lithuania, Austria, Moldova, Ukraine and Azerbaijan, which includes the project consortium. The final international seminar and conference on the project “Increasing the capacity of universities to initiate and participate in the development of clusters with the principles of innovation and sustainability” (UniClaD), implemented within the framework of the “Erasmus+ KA2” program of the European Union, in which Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) is a partner, has started. The mentioned events are held with the participation of more than 20 higher education and industrial institutions representing Italy, Spain, Poland, Lithuania, Austria, Moldova, Ukraine and Azerbaijan, which comprise the project consortium. Rezo Aliyev, chief scientific engineer of the Department of Additive Manufacturing of Germany’s Freiberg Mountain Academy Technical University (TUBAF) visited Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) for 2 weeks on the basis of a scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Rezo Aliyev got acquainted with the quality of teaching at AzTU, as well as teaching and research laboratories. He taught a series of lectures and practical training classes in the German language groups of the German engineering and mechanical engineering and robotics faculties. Rezo Aliyev also held a scientific-methodical seminar on “Main aspects of additive manufacturing technology” for the professor-teaching staff and students of AzTU’s departments operating in the fields of mechanical engineering and metallurgy. During the visit, the prospects of future educational and scientific-research relations between AzTU and TUBAF were also discussed.

In Tashkent, Uzbekistan the event “Sustainable lifestyles festival 2024: learning to live better and lighter on campus and beyond” organized by DKU with the support of UN Environment Program (UNEP) was held. At the event, Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) was represented by Ph.D Natavan Namazova,the head of the Institute of Sustainable Development. The goal of the festival is to raise awareness of innovative strategies for implementing sustainable lifestyles in universities in Central Asia and the Caucasus through global and interregional exchange of best practices. Within the framework of the festival, legacies leading to a greener and more responsible lifestyle from the past to the present were widely discussed.

The next information session about scholarship programs of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) was held for students of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). In the information session, DAAD’s German language teacher working at AzTU, Claudio Kasperl, gave detailed information to the students about studying in Germany, DAAD’s activity and scholarship programs, application conditions, set of required documents and selection criteria. Summer schools organized by DAAD for undergraduate students and application rules are explained in detail. At the end of the event, the participants’ questions were answered. In addition, Claudio Kasperl organized an information session about DAAD scholarship programs for researchers and doctoral studies. In the session, detailed information was given about requirements and application rules, and additional consultation hours were set for those interested.

The “summer school” called “Development of Engineering Skills in Multicultural Conditions” organized by Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and within the “Go East” program of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) has ended. In addition to the training program, the participants were presented with a program rich in the promotion of our history and national traditions within the framework of the “Summer School”. Within the program of the “Summer School”, participants were trained on “Multicultural Values ​​in Enterprises”, “Entrepreneurship and Innovation Challenges for Engineers”, “Decision-Making Skills for Engineers”, “Sales Skills for Engineers”, “Work in Crisis Situations”. Later, the participants of the “summer school” performed various tasks assigned to them as a team and visited “Baku Shipyard”, 230 MW “Garadagh” Solar Power Station and Sumgayit Technologies Park. On September 27 – Memorial Day, the staff of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and Turkiye-Azerbaijan University (TAU) visited Zafar Park, which is under construction in Baku. Bunches of flowers were placed in front of the memorial stone at the entrance of the park, and the dear memory of the martyrs was commemorated with respect.  

Representatives of QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) international rating agency delivered training at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). In the training, organized by the Research and Development Department of AzTU, detailed information was presented about the activities of the QS agency, the rating methodology and the activities of AzTU in QS ratings. Subhan Namazov, vice-rector for science and innovation, emphasized that AzTU has determined advancement in international rankings as the main goal and the importance of the measures implemented in order to increase global competitiveness. It was also noted that this meeting served to improve AzTU’s position in the QS rating. In addition to getting acquainted with the QS rating methodology, the training participants exchanged ideas on relevant strategies for increasing the recognition and success of the university in the international arena.

The next master-class “Growing Contribution of Azerbaijan to Earth’s Green Future” by Igor Nasirov, an employee of the Institute of Sustainable Development of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), was organized online. “Green projects and products: markets and trade” ( The fifth part, called Green Projects and Products: Markets and Trade) is devoted to the process of environmental protection of entrepreneurial projects for the production of products for environmental purposes, their marketing and sale. The main objective was to bring to the attention of scientific researchers, faculty and students to explore various aspects of COP29 and its relevance to the global climate agenda. At the meeting, extensive discussions were held about global trends and practices, projects to be implemented in Azerbaijan at COP29, and Azerbaijan’s contribution to the green world.
