A conference on “Water resources in Azerbaijan: problems and new challenges” was held at AzTU

A national scientific-technical conference on the topic “Water Resources in Azerbaijan: Challenges and New Directions” was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The conference brought together researchers, academics, and professors specializing in water resources, alongside representatives from government agencies and various companies.

AzTU’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Nureli Yusifbeyli, emphasized the significance of organizing such conferences within the framework of the upcoming COP29 events in Baku. He highlighted the importance of protecting water resources and the environment. Following this, Firudin Taghiyev, Head of the Land Use Control Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, greeted the participants and extended his best wishes to the presenters.

Subsequent speakers addressed key issues regarding water management in Azerbaijan, including completed projects, existing challenges, and potential solutions.

The presenters called on the participants to adopt careful and efficient practices for managing Azerbaijan’s water resources. They stressed the need to increase the number of initiatives aimed at water conservation, procure advanced equipment, integrate such technologies into professional settings, purify wastewater from fresh water sources, and implement smarter technologies to minimize water losses during irrigation.

The scientific-technical conference continued with plenary sessions.
