On March 4, a roundtable discussion titled “Expanding Cooperation in Higher Education Between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan” was held at ADA University.
The event was attended by Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, as well as rectors from leading universities in both countries.
Hafiz Pashayev, Rector of ADA University, who hosted the event, delivered the opening speech and welcomed the participants. He highlighted the professionalism of Kazakh academic staff working at the university he leads and emphasized the commitment to further strengthening cooperation in science and education between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
In his speech, Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, reiterated Kazakhstan’s commitment to expanding higher education partnerships with Azerbaijan. He stressed the importance of enhancing academic and scientific collaboration and noted that both countries are currently working on education strategies, cooperation plans with partner universities, and innovative approaches. He added that joint initiatives are being expanded to create new opportunities in academia and research.
Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, also emphasized the significance of strengthening educational ties between the two countries. He stated that while both nations have their national priorities, they have agreed to adopt a similar approach in education to align their strategies. He underscored that the primary goal is to enhance higher education and ensure the sustainable development of universities.
Speaking at the roundtable, Alim Bayel, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, highlighted the ongoing education reforms in both countries and reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening collaboration in this field.
As part of the event, a panel discussion titled “Increasing Academic Cooperation Between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan” was held, featuring an exchange of ideas on key topics, including:
- “Dual Degree Programs Between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan: Effective Implementation and Impact Strategies”
- “Scientific Cooperation Between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan: Promoting Innovation and Global Partnerships”
- “Enhancing Academic Mobility and Cultural Cooperation”
Following the discussions, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and three Kazakh universities:
- Atyrau Oil and Gas University named after S. Utebayev
- East Kazakhstan Technical University named after D. Serikbayev
- Karaganda Industrial University
