A traditional tournament dedicated to Victory Day has been launched at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The “Victory Tournament” jointly organized by the AzTU Sports Club and the Trade Union Committee is held every year in order to effectively organize the leisure time of university employees and protect their health.As part of the tournament, AzTU employees will try themselves as teams in 5 sports (chess, checkers, table tennis, volleyball and football). On the opening day of the tournament, a total of 10 teams representing different faculties and structural units of AzTU competed in the sport of chess. According to the results of the competition, the team of the Faculty of Information and Telecommunication Technologies won the 1st place with 24 points, the team of the Finance and Security Department won the 2nd place with 19.5 points, and the team of the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology won the 3rd place with 17 points. The winner of the individual chess competitions was Nurlan Huseynov, an academic advisor of the Faculty of Special Techniques and Technology. It should be noted that various competitions in the “Victory Tournament” will last for 2 weeks. The winners will be awarded with a trophy, medal and valuable gifts from the Trade Union Committee.
