The event began with a one-minute silence in memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan.
Speeches were delivered by the Rector of AzTU, Vilayat Valiyev, members of the Milli Majlis Zahid Oruj and Ceyhun Mammadov, as well as Adviser to the Minister of Defense Industry Arif Babayev.
During the conference, it was emphasized that, like all strategically important sectors of the country, the establishment and strengthening of Azerbaijan’s defense capability was one of the main priorities during the leadership of Heydar Aliyev. Under his leadership, the initial foundation for the development of military-technical potential was created, and international military cooperation was initiated.
It was noted that the foundations of Azerbaijan’s modern defense system were laid during the period of leadership of the national leader. Today, this political course is being successfully continued by President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. The groundwork established by Heydar Aliyev in the field of defense industry is now being implemented in a more systematic and technologically advanced manner. Azerbaijan currently manufactures various types of modern military-industrial products. It was also highlighted that Azerbaijan’s historic victory in the 44-day Patriotic War through the effective use of advanced military technologies has become a subject of international expert analysis.
As one of the leading universities in the region preparing specialists in the field of defense industry, Azerbaijan Technical University carries significant responsibility in this area. Scientific research related to defense technologies and security is actively conducted at the university.
Following the speeches, the documentary film “The Sound of Iron,” dedicated to the activities of the Ministry of Defense Industry, was screened.
Later, Director of the Institute of Defense Technologies and Cybersecurity at AzTU, Rahid Alakbarli, delivered a presentation titled “Defense Industry in Heydar Aliyev’s Political Legacy: From National Security to Technological Sovereignty,” while Professor Rasim Bashirov of the Department of Special Technologies and Equipment presented a report on “Training Specialists for the Defense Industry in Heydar Aliyev’s Statehood Strategy.”
