An information session on the “Metro Hackathon” project was held at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).
Azad Musayev, Coordinator of the AzTU Incubation Center, introduced students to the project, which will be jointly organized by Baku Metro CJSC and SUP.VC. The session covered the hackathon’s objectives, participation requirements, technological challenges, and prize fund.
Vusal Alizade, Deputy Head of the Technology and Data Analytics Department at Baku Metro CJSC, delivered a presentation on the project’s technological focus and key objectives. He explained that the AI-based initiative aims to improve passenger flow management, reduce congestion, and optimize metro operations by transforming young people’s innovative ideas into practical technological solutions.
Using real data provided by Baku Metro, participants will develop AI-based solutions in seven areas: predictive analytics, smart gate management, escalator load balancing, passenger distribution on platforms, dynamic train interval adjustment, boarding and alighting optimization, and a mini digital twin model of the metro network.
Eldar Alizade, an employee of Baku Metro’s Talent Management Department, explained the registration and selection stages. It was announced that, for the first time in Baku Metro’s history, the three-day intensive competition would take place at Icherisheher station, in the heart of the city, with the final round held at the Metro’s Technology Building.
The project will provide participants with opportunities to work with real-world data, receive mentorship from leading experts in Azerbaijan, and present their innovative projects.
The session concluded with a question-and-answer segment.
