He said that 4 years ago, under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, our brave army wrote a glorious history in 44 days and put an end to the 30-year occupation, and our territorial integrity was restored. The scientist said that during the Patriotic War, our people united closely around the Supreme Commander and demonstrated their strength and struggle to the whole world, and congratulated everyone on the occasion of the Victory Day, written in golden letters in our centuries-old history.
At the event, the memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic War, who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, was commemorated with a minute's silence.
Then Academician R. Aliguliyev spoke about the importance of the conference dedicated to the problems of green and digital transformations. The scientist said that the formation of a healthy environment and a green society is one of the main priorities of the state policy, and targeted measures are being implemented in our country in the direction of the development of green and digital transformations, as well as solving environmental problems. He said that the COP29 event, which will be held in the near future, imposes new obligations and important tasks on the government, scientists and specialists regarding the improvement of the ecological situation in our country, the expansion of the use of alternative energy sources, the implementation of new infrastructure projects and the formation of a green society.
Academician R. Aliguliyev noted that researches related to green digital technologies are the center of attention of the Institute of Information Technologies, and he also spoke about the negative and positive effects of digital technologies on green transformations: "Our main goal is to reduce the negative effects of ICT and digital technologies on the environment, as well as the application of artificial intelligence is to investigate the problems and contribute to their solution in the direction of the formation of a green society and a green economy".
The vice-president of ANAS also touched on the issue of developing green mathematical models in solving environmental problems and pointed out that conferences and symposia dedicated to green mathematics have already been held in different countries of the world. He said that multidisciplinary research should be conducted using the methods of green mathematics, and activities in this direction should be expanded.
At the end of his speech, the scientist expressed his confidence that the republican scientific-practical conference dedicated to green and digital transformations will be remembered with important scientific results in terms of declaring 2024 as the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in Azerbaijan.
Then the rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, professor Vilayat Valiyev, made a speech. Professor V. Valiyev considered the holding of the conference on the eve of the Victory Day and COP29, one of the most prestigious international events in the world, as well as the dedication to the scientific problems arising from the challenges of this prestigious event as a significant event. He stated that today's conference is aimed at solving the problems related to the achievement of sustainable development goals, which are the most important issues facing the countries of the world.
The scientist noted that the "State Program for Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2008-2015", approved by the head of state, is of great importance in eliminating economic, social and environmental problems in our country. He drew attention to the fact that since 2015, new goals have been defined for laying the foundations of equal development in the world, and important tasks related to the environment and climate changes have been defined for the states based on the goals of sustainable development. He said that many strategies and state programs have been adopted in our country in the direction of the nationalization of sustainable development goals, increasing human capital in the context of the realities brought about by digital and green transformations, etc. he said that important measures have been implemented, as well as that new technologies, including green energy, are already widely used in all areas. The scientist also drew attention to the need to develop new digital technologies in order to form a green mindset, protect the environment, support disposal processes, and ensure energy efficiency in our country, and noted the importance of the conference in terms of broad discussion of such problems.
Director General of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Misir Mardanov emphasized that the COP29 event, which is planned to be held these days and will be attended by more than 60,000 representatives from different countries of the world, is of great political and economic importance in terms of further raising the reputation of Azerbaijan in the international world. The scientist said that with the holding of such a prestigious event in our country, every citizen, including our scientists, faces important tasks in terms of promoting and promoting our country.
On the eve of the COP29 event, Professor M. Mardanov noted the importance of today's conference, which is one direction of the works related to green and digital transformations in our country, in terms of discussing current scientific problems, and assessed the conference as an important contribution to the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World".
Speaking after that, the director general of the National Aerospace Agency, professor Natig Javadov emphasized the importance of the conference held on the eve of the Victory Day and COP29 events, and noted that the reports to be presented at the section meetings are dedicated to very important topics.
The scientist spoke about the tasks and actions carried out by the National Aerospace Agency within the framework of the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" and the COP29 event. Also, the Agency gave full information about the projects carried out within the framework of restoration works in our territories freed from occupation, researches conducted in the direction of solving environmental problems and the results obtained.
Professor N. Javadov said that the organization of such events is of particular importance in terms of solving problems related to green and digital transformations in our country, and wished success to the work of the conference.
Director General of the Institute of Radiation Problems, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Islam Mustafayev, during his speech, talked about green economy, green chemistry, etc. in the world today. The main problem related to the emission of carbon dioxide gas into the atmosphere, the steps taken in the direction of reducing these gases that create a heating effect, and the role of Azerbaijan in this process. Professor I. Mustafayev pointed out that the main measures implemented in this direction are aimed at achieving carbon neutrality. The scientist emphasized that the UN Climate Change Conferences (COP) held in different countries for many years are aimed at solving these problems.
Professor I. Mustafayev touched on the need to implement new methods of obtaining chemical processes carried out at high temperatures in the chemical industry, gave information about the work done in the institute he leads in this direction, including the achievements in the field of hydrogen energy. The professor also talked about the research carried out in the field of creating a national radiation safety monitoring system together with the Institute of Information Technologies, as well as the monitoring carried out in our territories freed from occupation with the help of UAVs equipped with special sensors and their scientific and practical results.
At the event, Professor Bahram Aliyev, director of the Institute of Ecology of the National Aerospace Agency, spoke about the main environmental problems that concern the world and our republic, their causes and solutions. Saying that climate change and its consequences are among the most worrying problems for mankind today, the scientist pointed out that the basis of the problem is the increase in the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which leads to great dangers for all mankind. Professor B. Aliyev also talked about the state policy implemented in Azerbaijan in the direction of mitigating the effects of global climate changes. He said that by 2030, the emission of greenhouse gases in our country is set to be reduced by 35 percent, and in 2050, this figure should be reduced to 40 percent.
Then the conference continued its work with the sections entitled "Digital technologies in the formation of a green society" and "Scientific and practical problems of the transition to a green economy".
