At Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), an initiative on the collection and reuse of rainwater has been implemented by the Department of Chemical Technology, Recycling and Ecology. The initiative was carried out within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG 13 – Climate Action, aiming to combat climate change, promote efficient use of resources, and support sustainable water management.
Within the activity, awareness was raised about the collection and efficient use of rainwater and the importance of utilizing it as an alternative water resource. The collection and reuse of rainwater contribute to more efficient management of water resources, reduction of water consumption, and adaptation to the impacts of climate change.
The initiative also helped increase awareness among students and academic staff about climate change mitigation, reduction of carbon emissions, sustainable resource management, and environmental responsibility. The reuse of rainwater plays an important role in protecting water resources in urban environments, promoting efficient water use, and supporting climate-resilient infrastructure.
Such initiatives contribute significantly to improving students’ knowledge and skills in the fields of climate change, sustainable development, protection of water resources, and environmental management, while also supporting the implementation of SDG 13 – Climate Action.
